A list of puns related to "Surfboard wax"
I don't know much about surfing, I have only been once and I was surprised how slippery the board surface was (maybe the owner of the board didn't put on enough wax). It always left me wondering why surf boards don't put on some type of grip pads where your feet go or that the top surface would be made of some type of material like a yoga mat?
Or does putting on enough wax not cause it to be slippery and I just had a bad experience?
Any explanations around this? Thanks!
Recently I bought a used surfboard. The process to clean it is to leave it in the sun for a while, so the wax melts. Then, using a comb, scrape all the wax.
I removed all the wax, which was pretty dirty and stained from use, which is normal. However, some small amounts of wax still remain, as well as some stains, which I can't remove with my comb.
I've seen people mention using a rag and acetone to clean the rest, and it does work, I'm just worried it will damage my board. Any other option? I wanted to leave it really clean before applying a new coat.
Any1 ever heard of using surfboard wax on your bells as a replacement for chalk? Someone mentioned it in my workout group but didn't do into much detail...will try soon!
Update: tried it this morning....didn't hate it.
My surfboard has collected its fair share of small dents over the years and my wax-comb does not fit in them so I have trouble de-waxing in those places. Do you have any tips for me?
Hi y'all. I had a Greco softboard for a long while, great for teaching friends and kids etc. It's no longer alive but I replaced it recently with a SoftLite board and it's superb at least to hold in the hand. I haven't surfed it yet because the soft top finish is SO slippery, probably a coat of mould release agent on there. A friend of mine has one and waxes his but I would really like to avoid wax so I was thinking about buying one of these traction pads, then washing the board down with hot soapy water to get the surface as clean and chemical free as poss, then stick on a nice pad. Does anyone know it will stick ok?> Anyone ever used these pads on foamies?
This is the kind of thing I am thinking of trying - https://www.ebay.com/itm/9Pcs-Surfboard-Stand-Up-Paddleboard-SUP-Surf-Deck-Pad-Traction-Pad-Tail-Pads/302354383904?_trkparms=aid%3D1110012%26algo%3DSPLICE.SOIPOST%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200603054315%26meid%3D7b5a02c0a00f41f4b09fc569f8a44b1e%26pid%3D101196%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D302394106246%26itm%3D302354383904%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DPromotedSellersOtherItemsV2%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p2047675.c101196.m2219
Thanks for any comments
How effective is wax for creating a non slip surface on a surfboard ?
Why don't they make surfboard covered with a sand paper like texture instead? It would be super grippy then.
I couldn't find a clear answer on google. Is it really necessary to remove all the wax because it will melt during the flight and leave a mess in the travel bag?
Edit: Ok sounds like most of ya'll don't remove the wax before flying. I've been wasting wax/time this entire time. My only concern would be flying somewhere tropical esp on a small prop plane to like Indo or the S Pacific but it sounds like even that doesn't seem to matter either. Thanks for the replies everyone!
Just wondering because Iβm learning boardslides and just need the painted concrete a little slicker, would surf wax do the job?
