I just realised that basically all the negative stereotypes racist Americans think regarding African-Americans are the same stereotypes Europeans think about ALL Americans

Stupid/uneducated? After fat, this is America stereotyping 101.

Wear funny clothing? Baseball caps are dumb whether you wear them forward or backward.

Speak a dumbed down variation on English? You took the u's out of everything to make it easier to spell.

Eat watermelon/fried chicken? Replace watermelon with 'burger' and same again.

Love shooting each other? This is just what 'American' means.

Steal shit? That Iraqi oil sure ain't yours.

It's fucking uncanny.

African Proverb: "A child that is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth".

Whites often as me why I support China as an Asian American. That's pretty simple:

  • Why would I support Amerikkka, a racist, hateful, evil, genocidal empire that has constantly dehumanized me, my family, and my people?
  • Why would I support Amerikkka, a racist, hateful, evil, genocidal empire that has constantly spread propaganda against me, and made me a 4th class citizen behind everyone else?
  • Why would I support Amerikkka, a racist, hateful, evil, genocidal empire that has constantly invaded my homelands of my ancestors to steal, kill, rape and destroy my people?
  • Why would I support Amerikkka, a racist, hateful, evil, genocidal empire that has constantly tried to soft genocide me by brainwashing my sisters to worship them?
  • Why would I support Amerikkka, a racist, hateful, evil, genocidal empire that IS NOW TRYING TO START WW3 Against the only rising Asian country, simply because whites fear that their white supremacy worldwide will be eroded? np.reddit.com/r/aznidentity/comments/nqi3kq/anglo_antichina_propaganda_is_the_primary_force/

It is now blatantly obvious that whites will NEVER give us equality or freedom in our own country. Asians will never be equal to whites unless we FIGHT BACK. Power is TAKEN, not asked for.

SUPPORT CHINA AND GAIN EQUALITY, Asian brothers and sisters

Dear white CIA shills and white supremacists: The more you spread your anti-China racism, the more Asian Americans will support China

CMV:CMV: It's hypocritical for African Americans to call out people or action as "white" or use white racial slurs, or make fun of white people stereotypes

I see this all the time and I don't understand. Someone said it was a very "white" thing to do of Donald Trump, by not responding to Eminem's diss. (it slaps, btw) but anyway, what? I understand what racism is, I understand that Black Lives Matter. I'm also not trying to trigger anything or be an asshole. But what?

Is there a double standard to people pointing out white stereotypes?

It's like it's perfectly fine to generalize white people, but ludacris to do that to anyone of color.

In so few words-our nation is very tits up right now- I think it be best to not fight racism with anything of the like.

Criminal stereotype of African Americans is sadly accurate

That in US black males are more likely to commit a crime that white males.

According to Bureau of Justice Statistics between 1980 and 2008 blacks were responsible for 52% of homicides while whites for 45%.

According to US Census Bureau blacks make up 13% of population while whites make up 77%.

What that means is offending rate for blacks is ~7-8 times higher than for whites.

It makes statistical sense that they're more likely to be arrested/killed by police than whites. There's nothing racist about police shootings nor the stereotype itself.

Why did the stereotype of African Americans liking watermelon a lot start?

Hey was told I could get some more clarification here. I heard its a stereotype that arose due to the crops that African Americans grew after emancipation but wanted to know why. It seems so weird and nonsensical to make a stereotype about a crop that African Americans cultivated because it’s a fruit and its delicious. Why would it be singled out to a certain race? I’m curious of all fruits, why was watermelon the stereotype that was linked to the African American race and no other fruits?

I'm working on a project tracking negative stereotypes of African Americans in film starting with Birth of a Nation. I was wondering if anyone could suggest movies from different eras that use some of the negative stereotypes portrayed in birth of a Nation, I.E. rapists, thugs, ignorant and the one or two "good" African Americans who help the white protagonist. I'm more familiar with films post 2000 so anything in the 1950-99 range is what I'm looking for. Please and thank you in advance

In modern American culture, there is a persistent stereotype of African-American males raping/β€œdefiling” white women that has been around for centuries. Where did this stereotype originate, and did this same stereotype rise up with regards to other minority groups?

I dislike stereotypes in general, but one that disgusts me most is our cultural obsession with black man on white woman sex; while other stereotypes are usually widely regarded as racist and nowadays unacceptable, this one has been almost widely accepted, being fetishized by many porn companies and such. Little do many people know about how this black rapist stereotype was a major β€œcause” for lynching in the South, and it makes me sick to my stomach to see videos that 60 years ago would have gotten the male actor murdered and burned alive. But that’s me. Now to the actual question.

How did this stereotype arise? Were other minority groups perceived this way when they were novel? Would English authors fear Italian/French/Jewish men taking their women? Or did Americans ever show fear over European immigrants, nervous about Irish taking their wives? Is sexual envy common when dealing with racial tensions, or is this American stereotype unique?

I know this is a very broad question, but if you can answer even a small portion of it I would greatly appreciate it.

People of Reddit, do you think that African Americans perpetuate our own stereotypes?

I am a late-20's black woman and I live in fear that I am going to forever be labeled as the "angry black woman" when I try really hard not to. This comes at a price. The price is usually my personal level of comfort. For instance, I was at a concert and it was PACKED so I knew going in that there was no such thing as "personal space" which I was cool with. Now, what irritated the hell out of me was that there was one guy who was on something so he kept jumping into me. Like, his balls up and down my back. Everyone else was just kind of rocking back and forth but this dude thought that he was in a mosh pit of some sort. I kept trying to move out of his way but that was futile just because of the area that we were in. I said nothing and did even less because I didn't want to be "that" girl. I live in fear of reacting too suddenly or inappropriately and causing other people to classify me as the Angry Black Woman.

My question to Reddit is, do you think that black people perpetuate our own stereotypes or do other people take what we do and try to, for lack of a better term, demonize it?
