A list of puns related to "Sponsored repayment"
The Lambda school offers free coding classes to students in exchange for a percentage of their income if they get a job that uses coding that pays over 50,000 dollars a year. https://www.lambdaschool.com/about/
I believe that most colleges should work like this and that it is the best solution to the student debt crisis and the rising cost of college.
i will change my view if it can be show that income based repayment has flaws that will harm students if itβs widely adopted OR if it can be show that government funded free college has very few downsides.
The first paycheck with the pay raise is starting to hit for people and there are a bunch of posts (complaining, asking if it is right, etc.). I am going to attempt to address the lion's share of situations though it will definitely not cover everyone's situation.
A lot of new employee's are surprised when they learn that their paycheck is a little lower than expected. This is because OPM uses 2087 hours as the work year and most years have 26 pay periods.
78,000 hypothetical salary should be exactly 3,000 per paycheck
78,000 / 2087 * 80 = 2989.94
If you are interested in the background, OPM has you covered but the nutshell version is this - because of leap year and the fact that 26 * 14 = 364 not 365 or 366, there are occasionally 27 pay periods in a year and this allows everything to average out.
The amount of your retirement deduction will primarily depend on when you were hired.
Now it's beyond the scope of this post but there are situations where you could be hired later but are entitled to the lower percentage though the most common thing that people hope would qualify them doesn't (prior military service).
This amount will be based on your gross paycheck amount and no deferal/deductions will change this amount. Using our previous example:
You should absolutely check that the amount being deducted matches your expectations and if it doesn't, inquire further. As an FYI - this amount is contributed post-tax so when you finally start your pension you will receive a form each year telling you what portion of your pension is exempt from tax (it's based on actuary tables of when they expect you will die and how much you contributed total towards your pension).
There are a lot of things that can happen around the transition of the year that may make the first 2 or 3 slightly off from one another.
Examples are:

Retirement Balance: $19,867 in work-sponsored 401(k), $4500 in a personal Roth IRA.
At 27, I was relatively late to start in the retirement savings game, but I was advised by my job to take advantage of the employer match and have been inching up my contributions ever since. I opened a Roth IRA after my 2020 year-end bonus at work.
Equity: lmao I live in NYC, good joke
Savings: $4300 as general purpose plus a few specific bigger-ticket items, $12,675 in Emergency Fund
Checking: $4775
CC Balances: $160 on one, $400 on another
I don't carry a balance, so this will be paid off before payments are due. I was similarly late to the credit card game, which gave me the opportunity to adopt healthy attitudes toward credit usage, plus the friend who walked me through the signup process made me practically swear a blood oath to never carry a balance. I do use my cards for absolutely everything though, gotta get dem pointz.
Student Loan Debt: $15,051.01 remaining from my 2015 BA (down from about 27k).
Other: About $525 still remains in an inherited retirement account.
Income Progression: I've been at my position for about 2.5 years now, my starting salary was $70k.
In early 2019, I decided to pivot my then-aimless future toward something else. I had had no particular direction in transitioning to adulthood, no sense of what I wanted to do with my life, no career goals other than making enough money to be happy and independent; in college I studied what I found interesting enough to pursue but didn't really want to take it further in grad school just for lack of anything else to do. After spending my post-college years working retail, part-time administrative positions, and ultimately as a bookkeeper, I wound up learning about coding bootcamps and chased down a couple leads until I found a tuition-free non-profit program that accepted me, trained me, and provided me with resources to prepare me for a transition from a life financially struggling to one with my feet under me, In August 2019 I started my first full-time, salaried position, with benefits. Since then, the only raises I've received have been my company's standard annual COL raise, so my precise salary is, bizarrely, $74,263.

Translated source article (Dutch):
Former race car driver Robert Doornbos (36) has to repay more than 10.6 million euro of sponsor money to the Limburg entrepreneur Harry Muermans. The court in Den Bosch has determined this in a lengthy procedure between the driver and his former sponsor.
Muermans financed the race carreer of Doornbos, who drove Formula 1 in 2005 and 2006 for Minardi and Red Bull and then was active in the Champ Car in the United States. The entrepreneur wanted the money back from the Rotterdam citizen because it would have been a loan.
The court in Roermond rejected the sponsor earlier, but on appeal the higher court found that it was indeed sums lent.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
I applied to one of the variable student loans that cover the tuition fee and also allowance throughout my 4 years of study in a local university. Fortunately, I got the offer and the payments are as follow :
Tuition fee (4 years) | 6,020.00 |
---|---|
Allowance (4 years) | 33,600.00 |
Total student loan | 39,700 ( approximately ) |
The policy of the student loan repayment is as follows :
CGPA | The repayment rate for student loan | Actual amount to repay |
---|---|---|
3.50-4.00 | 15% | 15% x 39,700 = 5955 |
3.00-3.49 | 20% | 20% x 39700 = 7940 |
2.5-2.99 | 25% | 25% x 39700 = 9925 |
My target is to maintain my CGPA above 3.00 and target for the amount of RM7940 of student loan repayment (MAXIMUM). Throughout my 4 years of upcoming study , I will receive about RM700 monthly allowance. Currently, it is only mostly online classes so expenses such as food, accommodation, housing are all sponsored by parents because I live in their house currently. I would like to ask for suggestions on how I can invest or save my allowance so that I could repay back my student loan when I graduate in 2025. I plan to allocate between 200-300 for my monthly savings and maybe 200 for monthly expenses. That leaves me with between 200-300 per month to invest. What should I do with this money?
Idk if Iβm in the right sub to ask this, if im not I apologize.
A co-worker wanted to take a loan out from his 401k and was denied because he hadnβt contributed to it in months. It led down a path were we all discovered the company was taking the money out of our checks, but not depositing it into 401k accounts. Once brought up it was corrected. Shortly their after it started happening again. What recourse do I have to resolve this? Quitting is not really an option.

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

After years of development, months of promising fixes, and weeks without any inkling of a roadmap, it is official that Halo Infinite is not the revival of the franchise that we'd all hope it'd be. But alas, the corporate white knights must arrive on this thread and say, "Oh, yet they have done so much! You are just blinded by nostalgia!" So, for sake's of comparison and forecasting this inevitable and endless debate, let us just present the facts:
In 2007, Halo 3 launched with more innovative features than any FPS shooter ever, after going through multiple development upheavals and changes. Yet, they never let their deadline die. They never failed to deliver with a Day 1 launch of Forge Mode, complete armor customization, progression based on merit/performance, community maps/playlists, a functional theater mode, cooperative campaign, a complete 3-act narrative, dynamic destruction with debris elements, added marines who could drive vehicles/board tanks, and a roadmap of future content already in the pipeline that would give Halo 3 a total 24 playable maps in just under 2 years.
Halo Infinite on the other hand? Now 15 years later, in 2022, has failed to deliver with a working Forge mode, failed to offer even the most basic of cross-core armor customization or base color selection, failed to have any cooperative game modes, stripped repayable levels, has a theater mode in shambles, has limited itself to only a cycle of 6-7 playable maps at most (given BTB's broken server connection and poor playlist cycles for arena modes), removed dynamic destruction with a white screen as a replacement, failed to deliver a complete 3-act narrative (let alone, include any remnant of legacy characters such as the Arbiter, Halsey, or even actually interact with Cortana -- aside from "dust/echoes" or hastily made audio logs), downgraded marine mechanics (unable to drive vehicles, can no longer board 5 to a Scorpion, no ODSTs, etc.), and failed to deliver a roadmap.
But what has 343 done well with Halo Infinite? They ensured it launched (even in "beta"), with a fully functional store that charges up to $20 for the most basic of armor paints, useless aesthetic attachments, and weapon emblems/charms. They ensured competitive/corporate-sponsored clans (birthed post-2010) are treated as gods, while failing to listen to the dedicated, 20-year long Halo veteran. They also recently revealed that they will be nerfing actual good/fun weapons (such as the Mangler), rather than b

Section One: Assets and Debt
Retirement Balance (and how you got there): ~$34,000 ($21,500 in 401k and $12,500 in Roth IRA).
I did not started contributing to retirement until 2020 because I was prioritizing aggressively paying off student loan debt and building my emergency fund, plus didn't have access to a work sponsored 401k. This year, I started contributing to a work matched (5%) 401k and about halfway through the year decided to up my contributions so I could max out to make up for lost time.
Equity: n/a
Savings account balance: ~$56,000 across 3 savings accounts ($33,000 emergency fund, $19,000 reserved to pay off student loans, $4,000 vacation fund)
Checking account balance: $1864
Credit card debt: None, I pay off in full each month
Student loan debt: $18,778 (I graduated with ~55k in debt for an english degree from a fancy liberal arts college in 2016. I refinanced my private loans in 2019 to bring them down from a whopping 12% interest rate and then paid them off in early 2020. I only have federal loans left and have managed to save up the total during the pandemic. I'm keeping the money in a HYSA until payments resume next year.)
Section Two: Income
Income Progression:
High School: got a part-time job at 16 working as a waitress in a retirement home for $7.25/hr
College: worked as a cater waiter for $20/hr about 1-3 nights a week, had a handful of summer publishing/media internships that paid $15/hr at the highest, occasionally did freelance writing for $150-$300 a piece
Currently, I am a full-time copywriter for a brand with side income as an author.
2016-2017: 55k - First full-time job working as a blogger/social media manager at a media company.
2018: 49k - Freelance income from a combination of author signing advance, freelance blogging, and copywriting work. Got laid off with severance from first job, took a few months to draft my first novel and broke into freelance copywriting via some friends who worked as graphic designers for various brands and recommended me.
2019: 88k - Started freelancing at a hot mess startup run by rich business school bros who did not understand how money works, but really liked my other coworkers. Got paid $350/day, then eventually went full time at rate of 84k/yr**.** Also made ~15k from 2nd installment of book advance and some other random freelance work.
2020: 104k - Unsurprisingly, got laid off from hot mess start up in early 2020 due to poor money
