A list of puns related to "Sorcerer (film)"
I swear I have seen this film mentioned on underrated film lists before but for the life of me can't remember the details.
I think it's by a fairly decent director and with a good cast too just can't get anyone's name. I seem to remember the poster being very 80s with that illustrationy/ Alex Ross look
Iβm just trying-watching the Philosophers Stone, & I thought about somethingβ¦ For US viewers, do they refer to it as the philosophers Stone in the film or is it dubbed as the sorcerers?
Doctor Strange, who has just gotten the title of Sorcerer Supreme, must face the force of darkness Nightmare himself. With the help of the sorcerers Wong and Mordo, Doctor Strange must take a journey into the dreamscape itself to destroy Nightmare.
Final Battle: Strange, Wong, Mordo vs Nightmare. Nightmare dies.
Other Stuff: The Ancient One is in retirement at a monastery during the movie and there is a scene where the sorcerers get his advice, not to mention flashbacks.
Post Credits #1: Mordo kills The Ancient One, as he wants to become the most powerful sorcerer.
Post Credits #2: Strange, in meditation, senses a deadly foe coming to earth, as the time stone starts shaking.
Just finished a rewatch of sorcerers stone, since now all the movies are available on HBO max! Favorite use of magic is dumbledore at the end βAnd now I believe it is time for a changeβ waves his hands and all of the banners get blown back and changed to gryffindor!
In America, the Harry Potter and the Philosopherβs Stone book, is called Harry Potter and the Sorcererβs Stone. What is the reason? Itβs something thatβs always puzzled me. Is your film called that too? Did they film two versions of the same scene, only changing out philosopher for sorcerer? Do you guys say philosopher? Or sorcerer?
EDIT: grammar.
Every single time I read or watch the Harry Potter series I imagine if some things were different, like "what if... blah blah". Anyway, I was watching the first film and there was this scene of Draco Malfoy introducing Crabbe, Goyle and himself. If Rony didn't laugh at Draco's name and if Malfoy didn't say those things to the freshman Weasley, Harry would surely shake hands with Malfoy. They'd probably don't hate each other that much, due to the fact that they started hating each other from that scene.
Anyway, what do you lads and lasses think about it?
Iβm specifically talking about the movies. I know that they filmed the scenes where they mentioned the stone twice, but are there any other differences between the UK and US versions? Iβm watching the movie on peacock after having torrented Philosopherβs Stone a while back, and I feel like there are some differences. Scenes cut, other scenes added. Maybe Iβm just remembering book scenes and applying them to the movies. Any thoughts?
That is all.
My heart is melted all over the damn floor.
Honestly, it makes a lot of sense that Wong is now Sorcerer Supreme.
Even without the technicality that Strange was dead for five years, it makes sense Wong got the position. While Strange is presented as the more powerful of the two, Wong is portrayed as the more experienced of the two, more knowledgeable on the world of sorcery.
And as we've seen, Wong is depicted as a responsible, level-headed character. He even has a scene in the first film at the Hong Kong Sanctum showing that others listen to him and his command.
I also thinks it works for Strange's arc. Strange becoming a better person doesn't immediately mean he gets the highest ranking just yet. Him having to showcase he has the skills of a leader and showcase that he's learnt to shed his ego will make him taking the position more fitting.
It gives the character more room to grow over the course of his trilogy. If the first movie was him becoming a Master of the New York Sanctum, a sequel can focus on him becoming Sorcerer Supreme.
Though hopefully Wong doesn't have to get axed for Strange to get the role...
A Kinda Sorta What If... (Marvel style)
I'm just re-watching Jujutsu Kaisen in preparation for the upcoming prequel film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and it got me wondering on the scenarios if Junpei attend Jujutsu High with Yuuji and the gang?
Scenarios such as how he would pass Principal Yaga's evaluation (but then again it was in the midst of the upcoming Jujutsu Tech Sister School Cooperation Fight)
How he would react that Yuuji actually died and he was the first person to actually cry for him about it.
And as for the actual fight against the Kyoto tech, Junpei would most likely go into protective mode, even if he is up against more experienced fighters.
And how would he click with the Jujutsu Tokyo Tech gang? Yes, I'm calling them that.
What do you guys think?
But my dm said it would be fowl magic
This got a groan from my table yesterday, and since I'm the only dad I thought I'd share their misery with you. You're welcome
Back in ye mists of time, it was the early days of 5th edition, and I agree to join a game run by a friend, as long as they can explain ascending armour class to me. This story takes place on the 3rd (I think?) session I have with the group.
I rolled up a mediocre rogue (the dice weren't kind), and joined the party of poorly-protected-fighter, some kind of cleric multiclass, and Sorcerer, who is the de facto antagonist of our story. There was a 5th character, but they weren't there for this session.
as the 5th player wasn't there, we decide to basically opt for some kind of side quest, so that the four of us can do something while the 5th character was absent. We ask generic church of good guys what's up, and they ask for help putting down local group of generic hell cultists, who are conducting some ritual on the nearby generic foreboding moors. They explain that this will be some kind of dispersed affair, and we should be reasonably stealthy. We agree, as the whole party actually has pretty good stealth and movement abilities.
We conduct a Night Attack (TM), and kill some of those cultists in robes (y'know, the ones with those wavy wavy knives you see in films all the time), and eventually fight some kind of spellcaster, who is commanding some imps. We defeat these but they slap the shit out of us (I think we were level 4?). By this time, we've advanced far into the enemy "flank", and are scouting far ahead of friendly units. We decide to gather some more information before heading back to the friendly HQ.
It's time to describe the sorcerer. She had INT 14, WIS 14, CHA 18, but the player decided to play her as if she had poor impulse control, and the type of ceiling-swinging ADHD that you see only in movies and tv.
We have another fight or two, but then the sorcerer decides that she's seen "too much", and PTSD kicks in. She decides that she's going to bludgeon one of the enemy corpses while screaming at the top of her lungs. I warn her both in and out of character that that will 100% kill us all, by bringing down a small army on top of us. I am ignored.
A minute or two later, we are fighting for our lives, and quickly getting surrounded. We can see fucking bearded devils and shit, and I know that we must disengage or be chopped into kibble. My decision is made easier when the fighter is killed, so many attacks are directed at her that the DM describes how the devils rip off her head and pull out her intestines, carrying them away like decorations i
