#This week's theme is Nightmare!

This week we’re going to take a look at the theme of ‘nightmare’. This can be a literal nightmare, with your characters’ deepest fears creeping up in their dreams, or something more metaphorical, like a moment or event that is so scary and/or so unbelievable, it feels like something right out of their nightmares. Maybe it’s a mix of both. What are your characters most afraid of? Think about the things that eat them up inside and change the way they interact with the world around them; the worst thing they could imagine happening. What happens when this comes to life? What does that look like? Bring this world to life on the page, transport your readers there. What is this character’s next step? Do they stand tall and face it, like a warrior, or do they cower and run?

These are just a few things to get you started. Remember, the theme should be present within the story in some way, but its interpretation is completely up to you.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Power metal is dying and/or already dead, so I combined all metal sub-genres into one list. In all seriousness, 2021 was perhaps the worst year for power metal in recent memory and I say that knowing that last year was poor enough to make me do a joint list.

Side-note: I talk about power metal a quite a bit, it's all European style power metal, American style power metal is poop.

This time we have a nice little mix of Power, Folk, Black and Melodeath. If an album made it to the list, I would whole-heartedly recommend it, as I left out a bunch of albums that were "aight". The best of the rest are mentioned in Honorable Mentions.

I had mobile service out today to install my homelink. Usb c with no data was news to him. He opened up the console and found the standard usb c hub behind the ports. Per him, it is the same usb hub he's seen in other MYLR that he has worked on in the past that have data functionality. The wiring harness is attached in typical fashion. Per him, either software crippled the data or the cable that goes from the usb A in the glovebox is power only.

Called Support

Nice but couldn't really help. Acknowledged that having this functionality removed seems like a bad idea and using the usb a port in glovebox is awkward, but there is a portion of the sales agreement that essentially says (and I'm paraphrasing) "we may change things and you are simply out of luck." Thought the situation was bad, they would be mad themselves, but too bad so sad the end. Advised me to call my salesman. Emailed salesman. He emails back sorry not my problem, email support. Emailed support -- no response. Called service at local Tesla dealer. Very nice. Acknowledged functionality was removed aroud November 1 and there is no retrofit available. Stated that it is not the same hub as before. Hmm. Usb C data function remains for MX and MS. Sent me the holiday update again to see if it would push Sonic to me. Received update, reinstalled. No Sonic.

Ejected sentry usb thumb drive (Tesla issued). Placed sentry drive into hub. Placed a usb drive with music in hub. Placed a game controller with usb controller. Results: Sentry mode works fine. Usb appears in the entertainment section and sorts music by genre, artist, etc. Plays on mini player. Playback skips, but it may be the thumb drive. Will try with this to see if it works better.

However, the game controller with standard usb plug works! This is despite not displaying any text in the game description that it is supported. Wasn't able to test two player mode but one player works. Tried most of the games and there is functionality. Mind you leaving the glovebox open with a hub and the cords dangling is inelegant.

So there you have it. It seems underhanded and rather silly to remove the center console usb data capability but we essentially have no recourse. Nor is sonic apparently available despite documentation that indicate

Before settling into the genre of transcendental folk, singer/songwriter Shannon Lay cut her teeth in the Los Angeles DIY punk scene, eventually making a splash as guitarist of the post-punk band FEELS which released two albums with her in 2016 and 2019. She also became a member of Freedom Band, the backing ensemble of prolific garage art rocker Ty Segall. But alongside these more abrasive, uptempo rock projects, Lay was nurturing soft and gentle songs of her own. Her first solo release, a 2015 home recording called Holy Heartache, predates her breakout in the punk scene. She released two more albums of her own material, All This Life Goin Down in 2016 and Living Water in 2017, before signing to Sub Pop and releasing her most confident statement thus far, a folk rock record called August, in 2019. Around this time she left the band FEELS, just as the world entered COVID lockdowns. Surrounded by change and faced with countless uncertainties, Shannon Lay took to intense introspection and remote collaboration to craft her loveliest, warmest, and most welcoming record, Geist, released October 8, 2021*.*

To those brand new to the feature and those returning from last week, welcome! Do you have a self-established universe you’ve been writing or planning to write in? Do you have an idea for a world that’s been itching to get out? This is the perfect place to explore that. Each week, I will post a single theme to inspire you. You have 850 words to tell the story. #Announcing a Brand New Feature for Completed Serials on Serial Sunday!

I can’t express how delighted and honored I am to watch each of you grow and meet the challenges every week. Let’s face it, it’s quite a feat to create a world from scratch and write a serial! And finishing a serial is an amazing accomplishment. Over the last year, we’ve had quite a few writers cross that finish line. It’s something that the writers should be incredibly proud of—those still working on them and those who have already completed them. I started thinking about those finished serials and all the ones to come; I realized that a congratulatory post just wasn’t enough. I want to give you the chance to show off your hard work! And so I present to you...SerialWorm!

###What is a SerialWorm?

Writers who finish their serials (with at least 12 installments) will be allowed to read their edited serials in their entirety aloud in the discord’s Voice Chat. This is to celebrate your accomplishments, see how it reads once it’s altogether, as well as provide some additional motivation to cross the finish line. After the final chapter is read, there will be a Q & A with the author. Questions can be submitted/asked at this time.

###Serial Worm Rules:

A minimum of 12 installments will be required to read. Serials will need to be broken up into multiple sessions, as with any Discord Bookworm.

Only one bookworm event will be held at a time (including non-serial Bookworms). You may still submit your finished serial to get on the list.
