A list of puns related to "Software as a Product"
Thanks.
I'm curious how the PMs with MBA fare compared to PMs promoted within and where they end-up 10-15 years post-MBA (i.e typical ceiling). Also, what is the daily routine of a Product Manager looks like and in which areas the skills learnt in an MBA would be extremely helpful for a PM role?
Finally, Is it even possible for an introvert to be successful as a PM? Would anyone please share their observations/experience?
Thanks!
I own a software as a service platform which is basically a website builder with advanced CRM and a full blown ERP attached. We also have services which are sold separately which includes website and software customization, marketing etc.
The base plan is free which includes the website builder, limited CRM functionality, an automatic app generator etc. This plan is free forever, but has a fairly intrusive "Powered by" sticky banner at the bottom of every website page.
As a sales rep, does having a free base plan hurt you during cold calls? Do you feel like it lowers your earning potential or raises it?
Note that:
1.) Customers will be linked to sales reps using our affiliate software, and any future purchases or upgrades will be attributed to the sales rep.
2.) Sales rep will receive 30% recurring on recurring plans for the first year.

I'm a longtime redditor but want to re-introduce myself. This isn't a promotional post at all; my main goal is to ensure that people have a direct line of contact.
Two weeks ago now I started a new position at Tobii Dynavox as Global Product Manager for Augmentative/Alternative Communication (AAC) Symbol Software, which roughly equates to everything pediatric, although I have a lot of experience and involvement with the eye tracking hardware and other products as well. Prior to this I've been an SLP in the schools and in private practice as well as an AAC developer with Avaz and others; I also do a podcast on AAC called Talking With Tech (and founded a thing called SpeechScience that used to get posted here quite a bit, which I merged into another organization when considering this job). Without going into too much detail, suffice to say that the community around speech generating devices is very personal to me. I passionately believe that communication is a human right and that "complicated bodies can hold clever minds." Obviously only a small percentage of those eligible for special education services will be AAC users, but I still wanted to put myself out here as a resource.
Anyway, some folks might recognize me from loitering around here in the past.
I want to extend an invitation to please consider me as a point of contact in the future for any needs you might have. I will try to pay attention to the various forums, and certainly I can be responsive about AAC questions generally here on reddit (whether or not they're relevant to T/D products), but I'm sure I'll miss things so feel free to message or email me at lucas.steuber@tobiidynavox.com. If I don't know the answer I should at least be able to find it for you, and I want to make sure I'm aware of any obstacles, successes, as well as feedback as to how we can make solutions better in the future. I have a very distinct set of priorities entering into this position and engaging with, supporting, and overall being accessible to the community is probably the most important. Your thoughts and concerns WILL be heard, and I'd love to listen to ideas individually or build some long-term relationships for ongoing feedback.
So! Consider me at your service, and any questions are welcome in regard to Tobii Dynavox stuff, AAC, or whatever else generally.

My company, Alarm.com, does the back end work for a lot of security companies. We integrate a lot of different smart home/home security devices and lay the framework for a lot of the monitoring software, but we don't actually sell directly to homeowners. Instead, we sell to security companies like ADT! So when I saw that the devices/system in the ad were ours, I was super psyched! I've always dreamed of having something I worked on appear in a popular TV show or movie, but a Superbowl ad is just as good!! Today, I'm proud to check that off my list of life goals :D
*Edit: removed the link to the ad because this isn't a commercial, just me being happy :)
Specifically skills related to computer science or software engineering. Genuinely interested in where we stand in the hierarchy
Is there any platform available other than AWS marketplace, that does the same?
I was just daydreaming about writing a short but useful program for an Arduino/Raspberry Pi, and I realized I had no idea how Iβd prevent something like that.
it says it will be on a sticker but nope, all i can find is serial number!
So I've only recently resubcribed to WoW again and have been catching up on the lore and everything that has happened storywise. With 9.2 being announced and everything, I think we've reached a point where we kinda have to look at WoW as a product on a technical level to really understand what's going on and what - at least in my opinion - will happen after 9.2...
So let's put things into historical context first with a big emphasis on patch cycles. There was a good visualization on /r/wow earlier this week for patch cycles in their respective expansions. Even calculating covid into the equation, Shadowlands has got the slowest patch cycle out ALL the expansions so far. Granted, WoW isn't at it's peak subscriber numbers anymore, but it's still making enough money as a piece of software that Blizzard is selling. In the latest developer preview we've been teased that the Jailer is going to be the final raidboss and we will fight him, but I don't really think we're actually going to defeat him.
The last time we've (more or less) been told that an expansion is only going to have two raid patches was WoD, a historical low for WoW which made many people pull out. Instead of trying to extend the lifetime of Warlords they pulled ressources from the patch team to focus on Legion instead. Considering the Jailors plan to "reshape reality", it actually kinda makes sense. We're not going to beat the jailer, we're back to a reshaped Azeroth. Everyone knows that WoW is a convoluted mess right now with different timelines and stories. This is Blizzards attempt at repackaging WoW like a cataclysm 2.0.
This would at the very least also explain why the jailer is so vague about his goals, ambitions and motivations. If he plainly said "hey I kinda wanna give a narrative reason to bring the game up to its peers on a technical level" we all knew what would happen.
