Good sharpening kit/jig?

I have a whetstone that i've been using, and while I can mostly get a half-decent edge on it, i'm not very good at it, and it takes too much time.

Been thinking about getting one of those little jig kits that holds the blad then you swpie the stone across them to sharpen them.

Does anyone have a good valued kit that they prefer? I don't have anything fancy, just $30 kitchen knives and pocket knives that i'd like to easily be able to sharpen up.

Anyone have experience sharpening a rabbet plane iron? If so, can I use the veritas jig to do it? (x-post from r/woodworking

Hey all, I'm having trouble finding any resources on how to sharpen a skewed rabbet plane blade. Because it's skewed, if I was going to use the jig, would I measure the 40mm (for 25 degrees) from the higher or lower point on the end of the iron?

So I ran into a problem... The set up of sharpening jig was great, but my scrapers are too short allready... sucks that I had to cut off the old sharpening platform. I guess now need to learn from my mistakes and check everything before making big changes to my opuration. Any ideas what to do now?😅

From the advice of those in this group here’s the results of lapping and sharpening my 36mm! Accidentally made a secondary bevel using a sharpening jig set at 30 degrees, it’s very close to the original bevel I think it might been set at 28 degrees so I’m going to leave as is v.redd.it/kcv73xn77k871

I have chisels and an oil stone sharpening system recommended by Rex Kruger, but I have an issue because I don't have a bevel gauge or a sharpening jig. How can I get the right angle to sharpen without either of those?

In my country there are no jigs, and I haven't found a bevel gauge yet. How do I find the right angle to sharpen without either? I have a combo square and a carpenters triangle, not sure if either would help since I'm super green to wood working
