I was scheduled for a vaccine on June 30th which coincidentally was the day they started rolling out the Moderna vaccine. Because I will be visiting Canada in a couple of months, I requested for Moderna. First was a woman at the door who told me right off the bat that there wasn't any Moderna shot left but led me in anyway and passed me on to two police officers who were acting ushers in the waiting area. I asked one of them about Moderna and he said, "Wala na po eh. Mag-pray ka na lang baka sakaling meron," then shows me my seat. After waiting for nearly an hour, I noticed everyone around me were holding Sinovac forms. At this point, I realize they put me in there essentially leaving me with no other choice but to just deal with it and take the Sino jab. I left my seat and asked the lady at the front again if she could lead me to the person in charge of the vaccines. From the get go the woman in charge was extremely rude, possibly aware of the fact that people who are pining for a Moderna jab were at her mercy. She explained to me how only OFWs and flight attendants get the Moderna jab. After that she asks if I was a part of [councilor name]'s master list of Moderna recipients. (Nepotism?) She told me I was ineligible, and asked me to leave my name and number just in case. As I was writing, the woman chimes in with one of her colleagues on how exhausting it was whenever they had a VIP guest come in because they had to do literally everything for him including filling out a form with his own personal details. I just couldn't wrap my head around how the city mayor, whose literally on TV almost everyday, brags about how close to herd immunity his city is when there's so much bureaucracy happening in the sidelines. Is this normal in other LGUs too? Having a councilor with a master list on who gets what? Also, VIP guests?
