This will be a 2h00 mission. It will start at 19:00 UTC. There will be a briefing in TS at 18:30 for leadership roles. There will be a slotting-up period at 18:45.
Required for TS briefing: all bolded roles, which means CO, 2ic, RTO, head surgeon, both bearers, Logistics leader, both pilots, Squad leaders and Fire Team Leaders.
Alpha squad in its entirely will also be required for a separate briefing during slotting-up.

This mission happens in an alternate universe. Criticisms about historical accuracy should be shouted down an empty can of microwave noodles.

Illumination effects enabled. Ace interact when looking at your map to turn on your flashlight. Flashlights are only available for some leadership slots. If you want a flashlight, want to know your loadout, or would like your loadout slightly tweaked in some way, you may message Duck on the discord to get specific items if you wish, within reason and the ‘realistic’ loadouts being used here.
**BACKGROUND**
The year is 1965. The 1st cavalry division, one of the first in Viet Nam, is establishing its base in the Quang Tri valley, which has been quiet for several years. This is not going to last. According to intelligence obtained by informants deeper in the jungle, the VC are eyeing the valley, and in 12-18 months will be planning to move into it. We anticipate that they will do this by approaching from the eastern sector, which they control already, seeking out a fordable area in the river, and traversing at night with heavy equipment with which to begin establishing their presence.
We anticipate that this move will begin in 12 months, roughly, as the VC have been severely weakened by American opening moves in the campaign. However, they have probably already begun sending in scouts to look at potential fording areas and identify weak points in our defences. Our task now is therefore to intensify our patrols, by car and by foot, and gain experience in conducting such patrols, and dealing with isolated scouts. W

Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.

Keep in mind, my son is 4 years old, so everything is an original to him.
I had to work late into the evening yesterday, and he was just going to bed when I got home. I had left home for the office nearly 14 hours prior, had a long day, lots of meetings, traffic, etc.
When I walked through the door, I was exhausted, run down, and starving. My wife hugged me and asked how my day was, and I replied, "Done. It was a good day, but has got me exhausted. I just want to grab a bite and go to bed. I'm hungry."
From my son's bedroom, I hear him shout, "Hi Hungry! Nice to meet you!"
Not only did it make me laugh, but I completely forgot about how hungry and tired I was. I went to his bedroom, and we laughed together about it. It was exactly what I needed.
