A list of puns related to "SMTV Live"
What do you guys think?? Me personally I thought the writing and characters in 4 was magnificent! Truly loved everything and I mean everything about it. Apocalypse sadly didnt really live up to being the sequel I wanted but was still a very good game. Just an "eh" story in my opinion when compared to its predecessor
Unpopular opinion i think but Nocturnes story very much bored me as a kid and even now I just find the world to be very sick and cool but I never got attached to any characters or the story. The gameplay was where it shined. But I love my jrpg stories!
So I'm staying pretty blind with V I have so much faith in Atlus to deliver an amazing game. But I personally think I'll end up liking it less than 4 because of the impact 4 had on my life when I first played thru it. Already nostalgic I'm open minded tho so if V truly does do better in every or almost every department then I'll be so damn happy
Thoughts??? :3
Iβve found a handful on YouTube but wondered if anyone had more π
I have some similar stuff to share to someone wants to exchange.
I would really like to see old broadcasts from my childhood and Saturday morning TV was a huge part of that.
I guess it's never happen due to licensing reasons but reruns of old after school and Saturday morning kids shows from the 90s would be amazing especially during this lockdown.

It's got to rhyme!
We all know that Shin Megami Tensei V has several problems with its story. It has a thin plot, information dumps, poor pacing and underdeveloped characters. In spite of that, I immensely enjoyed the story, and it took me on an amazing moral journey full of twists and turns. However, to find that enjoyment, you have to dig deep and pay attention to a lot of details. As a few others here have said before, it's a great story, poorly told.
Lack of Character Development, Intentional?
To start off, let's first address the elephant in the room: the paper-thin characters.
One of the key qualities of a good story is well-developed characters. These are characters with clear motivations stemming from a compelling history, leading them to actions that challenge those goals, often leading to transformation. The question is, why is this so important?
Character development allows you, the reader or player, to become emotionally invested in those characters. Stories want you to care about their characters, so that you stick with them as they overcome conflicts. You start rooting for them, and you want them to succeed. Or, in the case of villains, you want them to fail.
Now, what if the story is trying to do the exact opposite? What if the story wants to distance you from the rest of humanity, so that you care less about human characters the further you read?
Words of the Producer
What is the story of SMT V really about? I believe that there is a misunderstanding here. SMT V is not an adventure to save humans from a war between angels and demons, yet many people seem to treat it as such. If you do so, the plot is very thin and the story barely exists. One member here said that there is no point to picking any of the sides, because "there is no temptation." However, that is the point. For better or worse, instead of offering reasons to pick each side, SMT V focuses on the opposite: reasons to not pick each of the sides.
This vision for the story is clear from an old interview for SMT V given years ago. In it, the producer, Kazuyuki Yamai said the following:
>In ordinary RPGs, the hero who helps troubled people and destroys evil is considered the good guy. But in SMT, you will be asked things like βDo you really want to rescue them?β or βDo you think you want to save this world?β There ought to be not few people in the world who want to answer 'No', and I think this RPG is like a life simulator that can be enjoyed by such people.

I think there are issues with the story, but they mostly boil down to presentation and pacing and not properly driving the game's overarching theme home. However, the underlying story and themes of SMTV are quite great and perhaps some of the most profound in gaming.
The theme of SMTV is this: all of the world's various cultures throughout humanity's history have created Gods and religions (the Bethel branches) to govern civilization and to pass down wisdom from generation to generation. These Gods and religions are oppressive of people in numerous ways, but are necessary for the functioning of human society and fulfillment. "If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him." - Voltaire (a deist)
Nahobino is given a choice: destroy the Gods to free humans or realize the Gods' utility and keep them. This is a profound moral question that humanity struggles with every day. Gods are oppressive, but to some degree necessary for a functioning society and human fulfillment.
The problem lies not in the moral question SMTV presents, which is quite profound and timely, but in the presentation:
- The story is poorly paced. Several hours will pass without advancing the story, and then you'll get an hour of story dump.
- Certain characters are underwritten and largely forgotten about after the opening. SMTV doesn't care about its human characters enough.
- In the English localization, there is some stiff and generic dialogue
- The game doesn't use its length to effectively convey the overarching moral question. Throughout the 50+ hour run time you are given very few examples of why a Godless society may or may not work, or how religion may be necessary for human fulfillment even if it is oppressive. The argument for each side is never really made. Because of this, when Nahobino is given the big choice at the end, it feels somewhat frivolous and empty. The game should present both sides of the argument over its 50+ hours, and then the player, with both arguments made, makes the big choice at the end if humanity should keep living with "demons" (religions/Gods) or not.
- The game doesn't take advantage of its slice of life potential, by largely ignoring the human world after the first hour. Proper use of slice of life would both provide a break from its heavy themes and Netherworld gameplay to create a better gameplay loop, but also provide opportunities to present relatable examples of the ov

Bowserβs Fury
Great open world take on the 3D World mechanics. I love the exploration focused 3D Mario games and Bowserβs Fury is one of the best, despite only being a handful of hours long. I could easily see myself revisiting this game countless times over the years, much like I have with 64. Itβs easy to jump into and progression feels great.
Monster Hunter Rise
As a long time fan of the series I was pretty disappointed with what I played of MHW. It felt too different from the best games in the series up until that point. Rise takes the best parts of classic MH and the best parts of World and mixes in some new ideas. The end result is very compelling new MH experience. Canβt wait for the expansion next year!
Famicom Detective Club
Despite having some dated and obtuse issues with progression these games are still very special. First thing is obvious. The art is beautiful. Combining that with great writing, characters and sound design and these games have a way of pulling you in. You want to find out what happens next. So, while having to occasionally click on every dialogue option in every location because you canβt figure out what to do next is frustrating, it doesnβt harm the experience enough to overcome that desire to keep playing. Oh, and these games are gorgeous!
Sky: Children of the Light
Iβm not typically a fan of F2P games, but thatgamecompany has the pedigree that had me interested in this game from the moment it was first announced as an iOS exclusive years ago. Itβs a lot like their previous hit, Journey. Only this time instead of more passive multiplayer you have some light MMO elements. Some people have issues with the way the social elements are monetized, but I still think if you ignore a lot of that and play this game like you would Journey then you will have an amazing experience. Itβs so much fun flying around and exploring.
Metroid Dread
I loved Samus Returns in 2017. At the time I thought it lived up to the standard set by Super Metroid and Zero Mission. Dread is an evolution of the Samus Returns core gameplay. A focus on more dynamic action in the combat is balanced perfectly with the methodical exploration of a Metroidvania. The bar for this genre has been set ridiculously high by indie masterpieces like Hollow Knight. It wasnβt a guarantee that Nintendo and Mercury Steam would be able to live up to those expectat

It's such a joy to explore. The perfect ratio of collectibles, enemies, and side quests. Yet its surreal beauty is enough to make you stop and take in the view occasionally.
The spaces are diverse too. There's wide open plains, like around Tokyo Tower, compact cites with verticality, like Kamiyacho, and even linear sections, like the optional mountain path up Onarimon. All of which are interconnected. SMTV weaves between these different level designs with ease.
The cherry on top is the dynamic music. I love the chime that rings out to announce the full moon. The perfect mood setter.
Previous SMT games certainly had exploration, but it was a different flavor. It was mostly dungeon crawling. Sure there might've been a world map, but that served primarily as a way to connect towns and dungeons. With SMTV, exploration has opened up, and as a result Da'at feels lived-in. Never before has the series felt so intimate.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!

Pilot on me!!
Hello. I beat Tales of Arise over a week ago and have had time to sit on it. Iβve been teasing it for too long and now it is here. I will avoid basically any and all spoilers in this initial post but I will mark stuff I think is slightly spoilery.
I made a huge spoiler post just now talking about the Tales of Arise opening song. It is a huge spoilers, though, for the coolest part of the game imo, so only look if you dare. https://www.reddit.com/r/tales/comments/pkf4yn/we_need_to_talk_about_the_tales_of_arise_opening/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
For starters, general thoughts off the top of my head:
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
Do your worst!
