A list of puns related to "Rules of snooker"
I was playing with a friend at a snooker club that day. We had two balls left on the table and i was leading him a few points ahead and just needed the pink to win. I potted the pink and carried on to play my shot on the black but the cue ball went in-off after i played my shot on the black. Does my opponent claim the foul and earn 7 points to carry on with the game or is it already game over ?
Hi fellow snooker enthousiasts,
I'm got introduced into this amazing game one year ago. Changing the pool cue for a snooker cue has possibly been one of my better life choices! Currently I play once a week for 4 hours and our experience is raising every week. Currently we play a frame in 30-40 minutes and make not to many fauls. Nearly every frame we can lay a deliberate snooker to gain the (scorewise) advantage and win the frame. Often this is a decisive element regarding the winner of the frame. My question now: how do you guys play the snookers in the 'pub' ? We have introduced a rule dictating that a snooker can be attempted twice. ( putting the balls back is always difficult -and- when in a realy difficult snooker, we don't want to have the frame ended because of XX failed attempts, especially when the snooker was put by accident). After the second attempt the other player resumes and has a free ball if this second attempt led to a snooker. this way a good snooker leaves you with 8 points (2 x 4 , minimal) which is at our level still significant in the score. What are your thoughts on our 'rule'? Is this something which is done more often? Do other people have better variants on this? Thanks!
I was playing a game whereby all reds had been potted, and the yellow. I potted the green but the cue ball went in off. In this situation, 4 points are awarded to my opponent, but is the green ball respotted or does my opponent play from the brown ball?
Here is the video I'm not sure about. I'm not sure what the commentators are talking about, as surely the referee can only call a foul, 7 points away, and Davis has the option to put Parrott back in to play from where the balls lie? Thanks for any help!
Edit: YouTube video with timestamp now included.
So, in snooker, I can always remember the order of the rest of the balls on the table, as well as the score:
β’ Red ball: 1
β’ Blue ball: 5
β’ Pink ball: 6
β’ Black ball: 7
However, every time I rack up a game to play, I find myself looking up the scores and point values of the baulkline balls (brown, yellow and green). I can never remember either.
Anyone got any tips?
Snooker Shoot-Out is quite popular at the moment. The frames are short, the playstyle is faster than usual and the crowd can let all their frustration out because they werenΒ΄t allowed to be noisy in the previous snooker events (now they can).
Maybe Snooker is now more appealing to a broader spectrum of sport-fans. Barry Hearn and other "important" snooker-chairman already stated that they want to include a shot clock to professional snooker to make it more sutable for TV.
In my opinion this is the most fu**ed up shit you can do to Snooker. Why fix something that is NOT broken?
And if want to watch a hectic game with an annoying shot clock(PEEP,PEEEP,PEEEEP) and drunk noisy viewers iΒ΄ll watch Pool and NOT Snooker.....
Watching that smash breakoffs and some rage video and it does look so satisfying, players get a bonus if they pot while doing it.
Iβm in the US and know this sub primarily deals with pool and pool tables. However, my dream is to eventually have my own 3-cushion and snooker tables. Anyone on this sub have a setup theyβd like to share involving one of those tables?
Like the live snooker is on and they stop coverage to go to dad's army a comedy from the 1960s/70s
What is the deal here they always do this, they come on at times at 7pm introduce the match at 7:15 and off air by 8pm now if it a brand new show was on after or another live event then fine yea go to that but a rerun of an old sitcom everyone's probably seen a million times? Please give me a break
Can anyone explain why they do this?
First trophy.
Hi all,
I've had the game a few weeks now but, due to family/work commitments, I've only managed to play a few frames.
Here are my first impressions of the game for people who are maybe sitting on the fence before buying it (as I was) **.
** Disclaimer - as with all opinions on the game, mine is subjective. There are glitches/bugs that don't bother me that might be deal-breakers for someone else.
Firstly, my biggest desire for a game like this is that the ball physics are faithfully recreated and they seem to have cracked it in Snooker 19. I really like the way the balls move and they seem quite authentic.
The commentary isn't great. I love the idea of commentary but the commentators on this game seem to repeat themselves a lot and also say things that don't make much sense like "a great safety shot" after a long pot. I found myself screaming "where's the white going!!" at the TV too. Let's get some favourite commentators on the job. I'm sure snippets of commentary could be cut from previous televised matches and patched together for the game (obviously - once relevant licensing etc has been sorted).
Please also change the transition graphics between shots. The old one was fine (for me) but this new one gives me a headache. It's like a really quick epilepsy test.
Those two things are probably my biggest gripes with the game so far but the positives far outweigh the negatives for me. I'm really enjoying playing the game. I disagree with a lot of people who say the aiming aids make it too easy. I think there is a decent learning curve and the aiming aids are perfectly balanced. I really like how the target path for the object ball widens to make it harder to judge. I've not played 'online' yet though so *do* understand the point that aiming aids should be matched when playing people online otherwise it's very unfair.
A couple of requests for the devs (if you happen to be reading this!):
Can we have the ability to swerve shots? I didn't see how this could be done? Maybe I missed it but it doesn't seem to be there?
Can we have the ability to zoom in to the balls and have a proper look around them to be able to see if a ball 'goes' or not?
Could we have a button to cycle quickly to the next targettable ball on the table? Currently the aiming aid defaults to a certain ball (not sure how it picks) but it would be good to just press L1/R1 (or whatever) to quickly cycle to the next one and so on.
Any chance of having an o
I've just gone for a few frames on my lunch break at work and have been introduced to this game.
Its played between 2-6 players and only 6 reds on the table. When a player pots a red they draw from a bag both a colour and a number (1 - 6) corresponding to a pocket, this is then their combo.
they can then play any colour they want however only their secret combo will win them the game.
No colours are returned to the table however once a player is out the best they can hope for is a draw with all players.
Regardless of who pots the combo will result in that player winning so somtimes playing with the intention to leave it over the pocket can be better.
It played a little bit like poker on a snooker table.
Has anyone heard of this of heard it be called anything else?
Was it Shakespeare that first asked - βwhat is snooker?β?
In all seriousness people look at me like Iβm mad when I say I like snooker. I like test cricket too, Way more than I like shorter forms of the game, so maybe I just have a liking to long and patient sports.
Fair play if youβre my age then certainly my parentsβ generation grew up when snooker was about 50% of the tv scheduling so itβs just kinda always on in my house if itβs on the tele. But I stuck to it!
Itβs almost impossible to play, itβs not like football where youβre a fan and probably can kick a ball in a straight line as well - lifelong fans will never make a big break!
Maybe itβs a personality thing.
Thoughts?
As an American, there is not much coverage of snooker here. This article first got me interested in the sport, back in 2015. Glad that it did. I'm sure many of you have read it, but if you haven't, you're in for a treat.
