A list of puns related to "Retroperitoneal space"
41F, 212lb, 5'9, have been trying to get chronic pulling, adhesion like pain with eating in my back diagnosed for almost 10 months.
I was reading this case of a woman who had a retroperiteneal hernia after spine surgery. "Here we present a case of a recurrent small bowel obstruction secondary to adhesions between small bowel and exposed retroperitoneal structures including the left psoas muscle, resulting from a herniation of small bowel through a peritoneal defect apparently created at the time of an anterior retroperitoneal lumbar spinal exposure. This patient was managed in a community hospital. This work has been reported in line with the SCARE criteria."
I have not had spinal surgery but I consistently feel like there is a hole between my diaphragm and left psoas muscle that bowel is going through. Additionally it always feels like my bowel is stuck to my back. But it pops in and out so I do not think it would always be apparent on imaging unless the imaging was taken right after I ate.
What are the chances that there are adhesions in my back? It is incredibly painful to eat, My diaphragm feels like it is being dragged down when I eat and my internal organs feel suctioned to my back.
Hello guys, Iβve posted here before. I had a recurrence of TC that came back as a 13cm x 12cm x 9cm mass in my abdominal retroperitoneal space. I just finished 3 x BEP on Monday and got the results from my ct scan this morning.
Unfortunately the chemotherapy wasnβt 100% successful, because thereβs still a 9cm x 7cm mass left. Initially it was deemed inoperable because of its size and it was partially encasing my abdominal aorta and IVC. The plan now is surgery and more chemotherapy after that.
My oncologist feels Iβm a candidate for surgery because itβs not as big as before. My question is, has anyone been down this road before? And if so any advice or just what you experienced and how your outcome was would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm a 21 y.o. Female Height: 5'6 Weight: 140lbs I've worked full time at a retail store for at least 3 years(pushing vehicles loaded with products to stock shelfs, helping unload the truck, backstocking, constantly walking up ladders, etc.). I'm currently on short-term disability leave because I can't stand for a long time, and walking is even more painful. I would love to get back to my normal life.
I've had a lumbar discectomy and laminotomy herniated on L4-L5 and L5-S1 at 14 y.o.
My back pain never fully resolved but has been tolerant until recently.
There is no known cause as to why my discs began to herniate. I haven't suffered any significant injury to my spine.
My main concerns are L3-L4, L4-L5, and L5-S1. Am I a good candidate for surgery, or am I simply screwed?
FINDINGS:
Conus is positioned at T12-L1. The epidural spaces clear. Marrow
signal within the lumbar vertebrae and sacrum is clear. Visualized
portion the retroperitoneal structures are clear.
T12-L1: Normal disc height and signal. No herniation. Normal facets.
No spinal canal or neural foraminal stenosis.
L1-L2: Normal disc height and signal. No herniation. Normal facets.
No spinal canal or neural foraminal stenosis.
L2-L3: Normal disc height and signal. No herniation. Normal facets.
No spinal canal or neural foraminal stenosis.
L3-L4: Loss of disc height and signal with central chronic disc
herniation which results in moderate spinal canal stenosis and
flattening of the anterior margin of the thecal sac remains stable
when compared to previous MRI scan.
L4-L5: Degenerative change at L4-L5 with loss of disc height and
signal and broad-based central/left paracentral disc herniation which
causes moderate spinal canal stenosis and left-sided lateral recess
stenosis as seen on previous examination. Right-sided hemilaminectomy
defect is seen previously. Foramen are patent.
L5-S1: DDD change at L5-S1 with loss of disc height and signal with
generalized left paracentral disc bulge and left-sided
hemilaminectomy. Spinal canal and foramen are patent. No change from
previous exam.
IMPRESSION:
spinal canal stenosis. No change when compared to previous MRI scan.
spinal canal stenosis at L4-L5 and left-sided lateral recess stenosis
due to chronic broad-based central/left paracentral disc herniation.
... keep reading on reddit β‘I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
I am cross-posting from another sub. I just turned 32. This is not how I imagined my 30s going.
I developed acute intestinal and ripping back pain very suddenly nearly a year ago which is still undiagnosed. It feels very much like it requires surgery to fix but nothing shows up on imaging.
In the first few months it felt like a strong burning, ripping, and pulling sensation in my upper back, like my stomach was pulling on my back.
Now it feels like the fascia in my back has detached from the muscles and I literally feel like a piece of cloth is covering my back and intestines and the cloth is getting stuck places, and my intestines are yanking on the cloth in my back. It feels like cloth is tearing in my back from my stomach. And my intestines feel inside out. I know thatβs a bizarre description but that is the best way I can describe it.
The pain came on very suddenly overnight and then I lost 20lbs from inability to eat and vomiting. Also had tachycardia and high blood pressure which started overnight when the tearing sensation started.
Then they put me in a psych ward because I was experiencing so much sadness and anxiety around the pain. They put me on cymbalta and mirtazipine and I gained a bunch of weight. The pain is slightly less pronounced but still very much there and constantly pulling.
I feel like the meds are just masking the problem. Iβve tried PT, special diet, everything. It doesnβt feel like it will go away without someone putting my organs back where they belong.
I am quite positive itβs not endometriosis based on what Iβve read. Also the pain came up suddenly, almost overnight, and it is not tied to my periods, which are light now.
Iβve had extensive imaging, a colonoscopy and endoscopy, and an abdominal ultrasound, and nothing was found. Nothing wrong with my gallbladder and no hiatal hernia. They did find bile in my stomach several hours after eating.
My doctor has suggested an exploratory laparoscopy but Iβm terrified of getting surgery and them not finding anything and potentially increasing my pain. Also the surgeon I spoke with specifically said they cannot access the retroperitoneal space, which is the space behind the intestines and stuff so I donβt even know what purpose the lap would serve.
I guess Iβm just looking for advice on how to deal with this? Iβm in therapy twice a week now, Iβm clinically depressed due to the pain, pain meds donβt work, and Iβm constantly on the verge of suicide. Doctors do not see it

Asking for my brother - 31M, about 5β10β (weight unknown but is lean), currently taking vitamin D and unknown antibiotic following colonoscopy, occasional smoker.
Had a colonoscopy done due to significant and persistent bleeding when having bowel movement. Found large mass in rectum (4x3.4cm).
Final diagnosis post biopsy is rectum, mass -superficial fragments of well-differentiated adenocarcinoma.
Results from CT scan:
LUNG BASES- 6.2mm modular density at the right lung base laterally, possibly vascular in nature but true pulmonary nodule cannot be excluded. Direct comparison to any previous CT is recommended to assess stability.
GALLBLADDER/BILIARY TREE- Variant ductal anatomy partly extends into the right hepatic lobe or this represents partial volume averaging with the cystic duct and common duct.
MESENTERY/RETROPERITONEUM- Left perirectal and presacral lymphadenopathy is present, including at least 10 lymph nodes, possibly more, and a few in the left para-aortic and aortocaval spaces that are borderline-sized. Follow-up PET/CT should be considered for further evaluation of these findings.
BOWEL: Large rectal mase, difficult to separate from intermediate density stool but measuring about 4.0 x3.4 cm in the axial plane, Anorectal junction involvement cannot be entirely excluded (coronal images). Detail/soft tissue contrast is diminished.
IMPRESSION:
Sizable rectal mass with pelvic lymphadenopathy and a few borderline sized retroperitoneal lymph nodes which remain nonspecific. Follow-up PET/CT might be considered.
A 6.2 mm nodular density at the right lung base laterally, possibly vascular in nature but true pulmonary nodule cannot be excluded. Direct comparison to any previous CT is recommended to assess stability.
Everything else is βunremarkableβ which Iβm assuming means normal, correct?
Thank you!

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
