[Marvel Comics] She-Hulk and the 2010s: How getting put in a coma was just the start of an awful decade for Marvel's jade giantess

> Introduction: β€œToday, I'm judge, jury, and executioner.”

(photo for the mobile crowd)

In the late 1970s, Marvel's Not-So-Jolly Green Giant, the Incredible Hulk, was starring in a hit TV series. Known today for its incredibly melancholic piano intro and being the debut of Lou Ferringo as the depiction of Hulk, the series would run for eighty episodes between 1978 and 1982. As the series went on, Marvel began to fear that the show would go the obvious route of introducing a female Hulk counterpart. Wanting to have the rights locked in just in case of that eventuality (and because Hulk showrunner Kenneth Johnson had done that very thing in prior show The Six Million Dollar Man, Stan Lee would be tasked with making this character- his final original character until 1992's Ravage 2099.

Jennifer Walters is an timid attorney whose cousin, Bruce Banner, happens to have a gamma radiation condition which makes him dangerous to make angry. When the two meet, Jen is caught in the perpetual crossfire between the Hulk and the military, leading to Bruce being the only viable blood doner to save her life. Reluctently doing so, Jennifer gains lessened versions of Bruce's powers, but is able to control them to a greater degree. Growing to love the newfound lease on life that her powers gave her, Jennifer adopts the mantle of She Hulk,

Jen quickly became a beloved character during the 1980s, helped by a great guest tenure on the Fantastic Four during the John Byrne era which led to him tacking a solo series focused on Jen. Jen's biggest trait at the time was her more lighthearted and jokey personality, which often involved skits in the comics of Jen being aware she was a fictional character- years before Deadpool ran that joke into the ground so deep the Mole Men filed a complaint. Jen would even butt heads with the comic's version of Byrne and his creative team for the wacky situations they'd throw her into. This even extended to the covers, where Jen threatened the audience to support the book or admitting she was just posing provocatively to attract the eye of the reader.

Jennifer would spend the 80s, 90s and 2000s amassing a ded

My Pitch for Marvel Comics' Avengers Ongoing

As I'm sure most people on here agree that Aaron's Avengers is trash. I dropped the title after Heroes Reborn for the first time in 12 years of comic collecting. I like the creativity of his ideas and think that the 'Avengers Forever' title with the Multiversal Avengers could be great if executed well.

The problem is... I know it won't be. So in that light here's my pitch for Marvel's Avengers, imagining that I am taking over in basically the next issue lol. I only wrote this rough so don't judge me. Hope you can also tell I want the classic Avengers back.

The Avengers

If you consider the Earth to be made up of nations then surely the multiverse is just Earth on a macro level, where it is made up of universes or different Earths.

In this light, why do superheroes not try to aid in the betterment of alternate universes as actively as they do their own?

A book about Avengers from a single dimension (Earth-616) carrying over some of the themes of Hickman’s β€˜Avengers World’ but instead creating an Avengers universe. The team decide that they should intervene in the permanent status quo of another dimension. Not helping to stop an alien invasion but instead attempting to topple the ruling power in that universe (i.e. Earth X with Nazis or a universe where there is a more galactic evil).

This could be a political allegory and look at the issues in humanitarian intervention.

The team would be made up of classic Avengers who have been out of the limelight for a while. It would also include all of the founding members. Make sure to take into account solo books, current circumstances and most recent appearances of all characters.

The Avengers feel less of a responsibility to protect Earth and the galaxy now the X-Men and Guardians are so well organised. This enables them to better protect the multiverse.

In addition, the reunion of the O5 in Trial of Magneto could lead in to this.

#1-3 β€˜Spiritual Retreat’

Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Wasp

Robbie Reyes continues to lead his multiversal Avengers (as seen in Avengers Forever by Aaron) from Avengers Mountain, but many of its Earth-616 members are growing tired of multiversal travel, and disagree with the team’s focus on response and relief rather than preemptive action. Further context needed after Aaron’s run ends.

The trinity are motivated by a desire to return the Avengers to their roots and do more to help people. Hulk’s return and motives for working with people who have hurt him need to be explain

Fun fact: Some of the things from the zombie episodes seem to have been influenced from marvel zombies comic

[Spoilers to What if? Episode 5 ahead]

I just saw the zombie episode of what if? And noticed that some details have been influenced from the comics

1)Black panther’s fate: In the episode, it’s shown that vision kept t’challa as fodder for wanda. In the comics, t’challa had the same fate except he was kept in secret by hank pym in an attempt for him to keep his sanity and stave off the hunger

2)A decapitated head of a size changer: In the comics, t’challa after escaping, took zombie janet’s head with him believing that she could be useful. She also eventually overcomes the hunger she has. Likewise, vision has done the same thing to scott

3)The avengers worsened the situation: In the comic series,”marvel zombies vs the army of darkness”, nice fury states that the zombie outbreak had been limited to New York, it was only after the avengers were infected (mainly quicksilver) that it became a global problem.

4)zombies becomes a cosmic problem: They took a slightly different path here. But in the comics, the avengers devour galactus and gain his cosmic powers. They then visit other planets to help satiate their hunger. Whereas, in the series Thanos became infected and has five of the 6 stones

Also, ironically spider-man was not the first of the infected here. He usually is one of the first to be turned ( I’m not sure about this. But in the few comics I remember, he usually is one of the first few)

Can Kraven the hunter (Marvel 616) put Batmans (Dc comics) head on his wall?

Kraven the Hunter has decided he wants to put the Bats head on his wall, can he do it?

All in-character, Kraven can prep as long as he wants, he has his gang and as his standard resources, batman does not know he's coming.

Bonus round:Same as before but 3 days before kraven attacks Batman one of his men warns Batman Kraven is coming for him, that gives him 3 days to learn as much on Kraven as he can.

Bonus round 2:This time Kraven not only wants Batmans, but the entire Batfamilys head on his wall. (Including Nightwing, Red hood, Red Robin, Robin, Spoiler, Orphan, and Batwoman.) once he takes out one the others will obviously here about it and will probably start coming for him, so it might be a good idea for him to try to find a way to take them out all at once with a bomb or something if that's in-character for him (idk)

Daredevil is really blessed with being one of the most consistently well-written Marvel heroes for decades, having inherently no bad comic runs

Several iconic Marvel characters such as Spider-Man have had some pretty stinker comic runs cough Dan Slott era Spider-Man cough.

But Daredevil? who he has so many excellent writers over the decades who have given him pretty compelling stories and arcs in their own respective runs from Frank Miller, Brian Michael Bendis, Ed Brubaker, Mark Waid, Charles Soule to now Chip Zdarsky.

The rich stories that these writers have managed to craft in their runs and contribution to this character's mythos is all, but worthy to adapt for both the small and big screen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and other media. He is gonna have an absolute wealth of source material of stories to tell that would have both new and old fans coming back for more.

The only Marvel character whom I can name next to Daredevil who hasn't had a bad comic run and had comic runs that were a banger to another is Moon Knight.

Any other Daredevil fan feel the same way here?

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes made me Love Hank Pym and it's depressing how Marvel Comics is handling the character.

Ah, Hank Pym, Marvel’s black sheep. Nowadays, the writers are more or less embarrassed by his character, and this has become a more recurring decision as what to do with Pym’s character. Even the MCU opted the other route, to simply skim past all the comic drama that the writers created ago, and transform Hank into an aged mentor for Scott Lang, and with the creative β€œdecision” to have Hank not be a founding member of the Avengers or the Creator of Ultron.

Even though it was for the best, I personally was disappointed by the change, and not because β€œScott was the more relatable protagonist”, but because they weren’t willing to give Hank’s character another chance, as if his character was tainted with what he did in the comics.

And I’m not excusing any of the character’s actions in the comics, but I am saying that the real reason Hank’ personality is so messed up is because the writers can’t decide whether Pym is a good guy, a conflicted scientist, a arrogant know-it-all, or a troubled superhero with a bipolar disorder.

Watching EMH made me realize that the reason that version of Hank was the best one was because not only were the writers the same and consistent, but they were willing to give Hank’s comic story a do-over a second chance, probably the last one we’ll ever see. He was a scientist, superhero, and pacifist who wanted to help people but circumstances keep pushing him to go against what he believes in. Even the avengers, his friends and teammates took him for granted and didn't appreciate him for who he is.

Between that and the avengers berating Hank for his pacifism, it's no wonder he snapped and quit. Hank was in the right to quit, and all Janet (The Wasp) could think about was how she didn't want him to quit rather than see Hank's side of things. Even when Hank Pym became yellowjacket, she only wanted him back on the team for her own sake, not even considering Hank or how he feels. It's such a shame that the series ended with Hank still having a severely deteriorated psyche and his issues not fully resolved which is pretty rare to see a pacifist superhero turning into a rude anti-hero.

Should a season 3 of EMH come to pass, and some of us are still praying cand still be a possibility, it would be nice to see Hank get to a more healthy space but still realize that his preferred approach will not always be an option, some people just want to lash out and be violent regardless of help they get.

Spider-Man and Batman are my favorite heroes

[American Comics] Avengers: Start Your N.G.E.N.S! - That time Marvel Comics partnered with a weapons manufacturer

#Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.

Look at this cover, and what do you see? If you said a generic-looking Marvel comic and a half-assed attempt at creating new characters that will be forgotten in a few months, then you'd be undershooting it greatly.

Let's back up a bit. Comic crossovers are weird. No, I'm not talking about Batman and Superman, or Iron Man and Captain America. Nor do I mean inter-publisher crossovers like Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which is unironically the best Batman story ever written by Eisner-winning writer James Tynion IV). No, I'm talking about the wild stuff, like Green Lantern and KFC, Iron Man and M&Ms, Batman and Faze Clan, Luke Cage and Magic shaving cream. It's not uncommon for DC and Marvel to partner up with companies to make limited edition comics designed to advertise various products. Now usually, these cross-company promotions are made with the likes of food or whatnot, but in 2017, Marvel announced an out-of-the-blue partnership that had many questioning what the hell Marvel was doing.

#I've successfully privatized world peace.

On October 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM ET, Marvel Entertainment announced a collaboration with Northrop Grumman Corporation for New York Comic Con. If you don't know, Northrop Grumman is a defense contractor and weapons manufacturer, one of the largest in the US. They have been criticized as a war profiteering company, having made billions selling weapons to the US military while war raged on in the Middle East. In addition, they've come under fire for a number of controversies, including faulty equipment, environmental hazards, and even selling code to foreign companies.

If you think Northrop sounds like the sort of entity that would be the villain in an Iron Man movie, then you're not the only one to notice. Predictably, fans on Twitter [openly](https://twitter.com/KingIm

Mutant discrimination doesn't make sense in the Marvel comics universe

Everyone's argument is always "No form of discrimination makes sense πŸ˜”" but that's not what I'm saying.

The idea that people would look at superhumans with suspicion, fear, and hatred is very believable and an interesting idea to explore. However, the idea that that suspicion, fear, and hatred would almost exclusively target one specific type of superhuman makes no sense. The way people talk about superhumans/metahumans/etc. in that universe implies they are seen as a class of their own, not split into a several different classes like, say, we've done with race. Singling out the mutants among all the metahumans to hate would be like saying "I don't have a problem with black people in general, but I'm racist against Ethiopians specifically". Like, that's not how humans think. You wouldn't hear someone say that outside of maybe some weird, personal, anecdotal experience.

Also, how does the average citizen even know which superheroes are mutants and which aren't? Unless they publicly declare themselves mutants like the X-Men, there's no easily identifiable trait that distinguishes Mutants relative to other superhumans. So not only are mutants a group is doesn't make sense to single out, but they're also a group you shouldn't be able to single out in the first place. Imagine a superhero saving someone's life and the person goes "Wow! Thanks for saving me from that burning building! Could you please divulge to me where and how you got your powers so I know whether or not I need to be racist toward you now?". In my experience on this Earth, I don't think people, even hateful bigots, really act this way.

A major issue I have in particular is that mutants are canonically not "equal" to humans. They are described all over the place as the next stage in human evolution. They are considered their own species called "homo superior". They are literally higher evolved lifeforms. The fact that mutants have always been a very transparent analogy for civil rights movements becomes very weird and problematic when you think about it for more than a few seconds. The statement of equality is so powerful because it says that, at the end of the day, despite our differences, we are cut from the same cloth, we are all human, we are all brothers and sisters. That's simply not true with mutants. They are superior to humans, and that muddies the message a lot. What is that saying about real-world struggles for equality? What is that saying about Mutants? I think it's weirdly
