A list of puns related to "Pub Choir"
In Australia there's "Pub Choir" movement, the only thing is that you need to "rehearse your piece" (even if you haven't sang with the other 4000 people in your ensemble/choir - and in this case "We're all in this together".
Plus Savage Garden - Truly Madly Deeply and The Living End -Prisoner of Society (what "Prisoner of Society" normally looks like.
And it's spread.
No Doubt - Don't Speak in LA.
The Killers - All These Things That I've Done in Brooklyn.
Get out there and sing.
So I just saw that The Laff has started doing "Laff Tracks" every so often. Its on tonight and I'm thinking about going and wanted to know if anyone else has given it a go?
It's one of those things where someone teaches you the different parts of a song and then you all sing it together as a group. Sounds like it could be fun, if its done right.
Is there any Pub choirs like this in Wellington? If not, I'm keen to get one happening if there's interest!
Brisbane, I'm still reletivly new here (about six months) and tonight, I went to Pub Choir.
It is one of the best events I've ever been to, anywhere, ever. If you haven't been, I cannot recommend it enough.
That is all.

We're getting a HEAP of interest now for Wellington's very own Pub choir and we just want to spread the word. We're still trying to confirm a few venues, we're thinking one in the city and one in Petone/Hutt. If you're keen and on Facebook, check us out HERE! If you're not on the book and on Meetup, check us out HERE!
BASICALLY, a big, singalong, relaxed, contemporary choir rehearsal.... at the pub! WINNING!

Long-time lurker on this sub, so I generally see the once-every-two-years "MD/PhD in Philosophy?" post that gets met with a spectrum of responses (from cautiously helpful to a little hostile), and since my application season has come, I guess it's my turn to jump on the moving train. The main question I'm going to ask is "How do I get people in the medical side to see the value in what I'm pursuing?" The rest of this post will be trying to clarify what it is I'm pursuing (and some information about me) in hopes that I can get some help from you all. I'm super appreciative of anyone willing/able to read this post and give feedback.

My current research in the philosophy world is all about trying to understand what kind of mental state a delusion is. Over the years, the DSM has been varying levels of contestable on characterizing delusions (e.g., up until the DSM-IV, a delusion was characterized as a "false belief." Philosophers argued that you can have a delusion that yields a true belief but is still irrational... for example, I could be convinced that my wife is cheating on me even though there isn't any evidence to support that... and still just happen to be correct. "False belief" was subsequently reworded in the DSM-V). Some philosophers even challenge whether a delusion is best understood as a "belief" in the first place. Long-story short, I'm currently interested in understanding what a delusion is, under the (I think perfectly reasonable) assumption that a clearer picture of what a delusion really is could help holistic treatment of psychotic disorders (we're finding that some CBT methods are helping, supplementally, with patients who have delusions, and that by itself challenges some assumptions we've been making). Anyway, that's just my current interest, but I feel like the potential for projects like these highlights some promising connections between metaphysics/epistemology/philosophy of mind and medicine (specifically psychiatry).
And (perhaps unsurprisingly) philosophers seem to agree. Of the schools willing to review my MD/PhD application, the philosophy departments seem really enthusiastic about the project. But I'm having a much harder time gauging how medical schools see it (I often receive a simple "XXX school would be willing to review such an MD/PhD application" and nothing more). To me, I see a lot of possible connections from which I could make a promising career both as a researcher and a physician (i.e., philosophical ins

Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
So far nobody has given me a straight answer
..... Will get a reward.
Interview conducted concurrently with Episode 8 of Main Pod Girl, featuring Griff.
If you tuned into the BRITs a few weeks ago, you may have seen Griffβs performance of her single βBlack Holeβ as she strutted assuredly in front of suitably dramatic stagingβa giant draped cloth under fiery lighting, a giant void burned in its centre. At one point, she loops her vocals live into a makeshift choir during the bridge without missing a beat. Itβs a performance befitting any veteran performer, but Griff is the recipient of this yearβs BRITs Rising Star Award, and this was ostensibly one of the most high-profile performances sheβs done in her career as a fresh popstar so far. The glamour of the in-person ceremony of the BRITs is certainly a far cry from when we talked to Griff last month, when live performances still seemed like a bit of a hypothetical and the world seemed a little bit quieter overall.

20 year-old Sarah Griffiths, otherwise known as Griff, is having an industrious year. Itβs strange to think about when the world had come to standstill (again) in the UK over the winter, but Griff has kept firmly busy with plans set for the rest of 2021βin particular, a mixtape in June with what is now her first UK Top 20 hit with βBlack Holeβ and a headline tour in October. During our call, Griff is sat at home surrounded by musical instruments doing the promo rounds, the aforementioned BRITs performance on the horizon.
As we start, itβs impossible not to ask how lockdown has been treating her, of course. βKinda weird but kinda cool. None of it feels real. So thatβs either good or bad, you donβt have the adrenaline rush of performing and doing things in real life, but itβs kinda chill, you know?β At the moment, Griff is living at home with her family in a rural village in Hertfordshire, just outside of London (βyouβve got pubs and fields and schools, and thatβs essentially itβ). She says sheβs been lucky in that lockdown hasnβt affected things too badly as guidelines have allowed her to travel
