Looking for psychrometric chart model equations / program to model temperature in an adiabatic process

Hi! I’m currently working on a project based on the automarizarion of evaporative air coolers. I’m trying to create a mathematical model that can help me interpret a psychrometric chart/ get the results I’d get from one using equations. Has anybody done this before? Or does anyone have any tips? Thanks!

Working on designing an air handler operating at ~150C, anyone ever see a psychrometric chart for air that goes to that high of a temperature?

In particular I am trying to understand how humidity works over 100C, and I think a water psychrometric chart going to 150C or 200C would get me the answers I need, but I simply cant find one. Anyone ever seen it or have a way to generate one? Thanks so much in advance.

Psychrometrics: find the mass fraction?

So I have thermo question about the psychometric chart given a dry-bulb temperature and a relative humidity. Pressure is atmospheric. I need to find the mass fraction of water vapor.

My first attempt was using the partial pressure to determine the molar analysis and convert into mass fraction, but I dont even know if thats correct.

Kinda stuck here, all other questions are doable except for this one.

thanks

Edit: some development: I used the relative humidity, given, as a way to find the ratio between the mass of the air and mass of the vapor as such:

RH = 80%

RH = Mv/Ma

0.8 Ma = Mv

to find the mass fraction of the water vapor:

x = Mv/(Mv +(Mv/0.8))

x= 0.444

So I guess my question now is: Is this solution valid? or am I missing something?

Edit 2: punctuation

Are Psychrometric charts confusing to you? Here's a very clear and concise explanation.

If you have to work with any sort of humidity and temperature levels (such as for HVAC engineering, or any engineering that entails calculating how much energy must be spent dehumidifying something), you will need to work with psychrometric (not to be confused with "psychometric", which is the measurement of mental capacities) charts at some point. These charts are famous for having axis and grid lines going every which way. There are grid lines and sets of curves for dry-bulb temperature, wet bulb temperature, humidity ratio, relative humidity, specific enthalpy, specific volume, and I think there are yet a couple more I can't remember. All this can be mind-numbingly confusing for a beginner.

This video gives the clearest introduction to how to reason with these charts. I linked directly to where the explanation begins:

How to Use a Psychrometric (Humidity) Chart

These charts never made intuitive sense to me until I saw this video.

The software he uses in this video is the Wolfram Demonstration Project of a psychrometric chart, which can be found here: Wolfram: Reading a Psychrometric Chart

Psychrometric Charts WTF

This is applicable for ME TFS and HVACR. I saw the NCEES video on it and it's clear that you can't drag lines, or make parallel lines. That is complete shit. If you need the SHR then you need to be able to drag the line into the psych chart and get whatever data is needed. Also 10 lines max?! Really. And they're black? Wtf. I wish we could just get a laminated chary and dry erase markers. Has anyone who's taken either exam and used the chart found it to be reasonable or outrageous. This was more of a vent rant.

I’m looking for a calculator that will give me dry bulb as an output from an input of any 2 of RH%, Enthalpy or Dew Point. Every calculator I have found requires dry bulb as an input. Application is finding energy implications of sensibly cooling vs using steam humidification to raise humidity to meet minimum space RH% requirements.

How to use psychrometric chart to assess affect of relative humidity on temperature?

For a psychrometric chart the affect of increasing or decreasing temperature can be seen by moving the state coordinates right or left respectively, resulting in lower or higher relative humidity respectively.

How would one visually assess the affect on temperature from varying the relative humidity? (I have a sensor that measures RH and curious if there is a graphical method as opposed to converting the reading into humidity ratio first)

I know for part b you need to know the compositions and then take the difference of them and multiply by 1 lbm Dry Air and then divide by the volume (ft^3) of air fed but I'm having trouble figuring out how much was fed.

Help with psychrometric charts

I'm working on a homework problem, where we're told that humid air contains 2.44% w/w water and is at 50 C and 1 atm. We're then asked to estimate a bunch of properties from the psychrometric charts (easy).

But then we're told that it enters a condenser, and leaves the condenser at 10 C, with constant pressure throughout the system. Is this enough information to continue using the charts to estimate properties about the air at its new state? My only thought on what to do would be to follow the dry bulb temperature line from 50 C to 10 C, at constant absolute humidity, but I would think that because water is condensing, the absolute humidity would decrease. I just don't know how to determine how much it would decrease.

Any help greatly appreciated.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Passed FE Mechanical

Hi everyone. I joined this group about a month ago and kept checking in to see the best tips to pass as I was nervous about the exam. I ended up taking the FE mechanical exam and passing it!!!! I'm very happy about that so I want to thank everyone for their tips. I also wanted to share some methods that worked really well for me. I was really stressed about the exam and wanted to know as much information as possible, so I want to help people who feel that way too. For reference, I graduated from an ABET accredited school last May and have been in graduate school since.

I used the Lindeburg practice book, NCEES Practice Exam, and PrepFE. In the Lindeburg book, I did as many topics as I could. I had about a month to fully commit to studying for my January exam. I tried PrepFE over the last winter (2020-2021) and over the summer (2021) and thought it was good practice as a refresher and a start. I did eventually stop studying until this December.

PrepFE was a great start to studying but was on the easier side. Some of the questions seemed out of bounds for the FE so I didn't really rely too much on the extra hard topics. A month's subscription of PrepFE while allotting two months to study the Lindeburg practice book would be the best way to study. You can do both at the same time to get more practice. In December, I just stuck to the Lindeburg book. I did about 3-4 topics each day and I thought this was definitely harder than the exam. I didn't have much else going on so I had 3-4 hours of studying each day continuously. I did notice that the Lindeburg book sometimes had questions that weren't solvable by using the reference guide or were much longer than expected. However, I think it's pretty good to get a lot of questions for similar concepts so no matter how they ask it, you'll know the steps. Lindeburg does a great job with this so if you struggle in one topic, all the questions in that topic are similar or rely on the same equations. That way, you can sharpen your skills. Do as many practice problems as you can so you have a great range of potential problems. And you don't have to do all the topics in the Lindeburg book. I had to basically force myself to be okay with not knowing all the problems in the book. This is fine because you won't be expected to know everything on the exam and it's okay.

I did the NCEES practice exam about a week before my exam date. I know you're supposed to do it in one 6 hour sitting but I timed myself and separated the

Just because it's a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"

I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes

r/unclejokes for dirty jokes

r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC

r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes

Punchline !

Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
