This is the same woman who wants six kids and has all their names picked out despite not even having a boyfriend yet. But she said years ago that she can't even take care of a plant because it will die. A PLANT.
She's the sort of person who, if anything logical needs to be done or kept up with, is the last person you'd want to ask.
She joked about me taking such care of my plants like it was insane to be able to keep something alive. When I replied that children are harder to care for than plants, she waved me away, laughed, then changed the subject.
A few weeks ago, she and I switched offices for COVID reasons. My plant had to stay where there was light (in my office).
Yesterday I went in to talk to her after a busy week, and there's my poor plant in the corner, flopped over. Dead. One of the easiest things to do is add water once a week, and instead of doing that, she let it die in front of her. Note that she sees this plant every time she sits her ass down at the desk.
My face fell and she tried to defend it with, "I added water this morning and nothing happened."
I'm so angry. She got offended and huffy when I simply moved a picture of her and her baby niece off the desk so I could have more room to work. Then she killed my plant --something I've cared for the whole time I've worked there.
Thanks for letting me rant.
Ps. This woman should not be having children.
EDIT: Thank you all for the well wishes. The plant's name was Roshnee. She was a beauty. I just got a peace lily and named her Lenore. I'm keeping her home and brought my other office plant, D'artagnan (which was also dying), home with me as well.
I'm going to chop my current run tomorrow. It's 2 in house genetics platinum bubba plants but I want to run 4 different strains this time around for variety. would love some breeder suggestions.
Some of the breeders I have in mind:
more inhouse genetics
ethos
karma genetics (josh d og strain only)
clearwater
Looking for primarily feminized as I don't have room to cull :(
Is there a specific terpene or terpene profile you are hoping to see breeders specifically selecting for? Do you just care about better taste/smell? Are you hoping they are selecting for higher CBC amounts? Etc.
I'm most hoping breeders are working on strains with very high Limonene (.8% or higher) and very low myrcene.
Hello all! I have been in corn breeding for the past 14 years and was wondering what everyone elseβs story is!
My story is slightly unique....
I started in corn breeding in the summer of 2007 with my father, who also works in the industry, developing breederβs seed on old Ex-PVP varieties that had just came off patent. We also maintained some phenotypic selections with a gentleman from Ohio to help fund the project. The summer of 2009 is when I developed my first F1 population, as I caught the breeder bug seeing all these βnewβ genetics that I could cross from the ARS-GRIN. This whole career really got started when I asked my father, βWhat if I cross ___ x ___β. I was in 9th grade in 2009! Once I started making populations, I have never stopped!
Since then, I got my B.S. in Plant Genetics, Breeding, and Biotech and pursued my Masters. I started a commercial corn breeder role with a local seed company right after graduating ,and as of this year, I now have my first three Utility Patents from those first F1 populations in 2009/2010.
Anyone else have a neat story?
