A list of puns related to "Intellectual Property Infringement"
Hi everyone, i am a very little seller on ETSY, i do it for the fun, i have a full time job, and dont want to be a full time seller, even 1 sale a week is hard with my job, but i love the fun that i have making sales and stasfying buyers.
Yesterday i received an email from Etsy telling me that i sold stickers from an anime with no legal right to do this. Ok it is fine, i saw that even fan art are illegal, no problem, they took the stickers down, and i go on.
But i tryed to do a legal thing and ask to the claimant how to be in good term with the law to continue my sales ... And guess what, the assossiated email is noreply one type infringement@removeyourmediaLLC.com
Well ok, i keep searching, because i dont want to be a thief, and i contacted directly RemoveyourMedia.com
And look at their answer:
" We do not send takedowns on (insert anime title here). Please contact the responsible party. "
I reply to them with a copy of the claimants that it is their name in the filed DMCA claim.
And they said :
" Imposter "
I ve contacted Etsy to know the end of the story, because i find it very strange.
Do you have similar story with removeyourmediallc ?
(english is not my first language, sorry for the mistakes)
I've heard people get this email before when they have put up items that might have license copyright materials. The item that I received this for is something that I bought at Hobby Lobby and another maker also buys the same item and lists it in her shop so she filed against me. It's just a picture frame that I paint. Is there anything I can do to counter this? Doesn't feel fair that she can list it and I can't.
I am still looking for a whitepaper very similar to the links below, but specific about memory class storage. It was a lot like the smart phone read, however, so start there. As far as the royalty goes in our case, everything I have looked at would suggest a reasonable royalty between 1% to 5%.

To be clear I in no way use pop socket in any of my material, marketing or in any other way. I avoid it. I just had 10 of my phone grip listings taken down by a intellectual property infringement claim. I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why this happened. The trade mark number provided led me to find out pop socket may have an actual trade mark on not just their name but the general design of the collapsible phone grip. Even those with out their name on it. Any one else having this problem?
Someone is posting one of my listings as their own! It's a one off item that I designed and hand made; they're using my photo, item description and name. Has anyone had this happen to them before and know how to deal with it? I've contacted etsy and the seller but have no response from either yet. Thanks!
Hi. I was just sent a Notice of Intellectual Property Infringement email.
The jist of the email was:
" Etsy received a notice of intellectual property infringement from ______ alleging that certain material on Etsy is not authorized. In accordance with our Intellectual Property Policy, Etsy deactivated the 1 listing specified as infringing and, where applicable, refunded the listing fee. "
Im kinda freaked out like I don't ever sell this thing again and I wasn't trying to steal but am I going to be sued now??? Or is this just a notice of someone flagging it and it was just taken down and that's that?
Any help is appreciated!
In a nutshell, there is a company in another country that makes a garment for dogs, and theyโre claiming intellectual copyright infringement over that style. My friend (in the UK) made her own pattern from scratch, and there are other small businesses that have the same style too. Itโs basically one brand trying to monopolise the market it seems.
Their Etsy listings have all been removed, and itโs their only income, so theyโre understandably worried/upset.
Anyone know if this companyโs case has any weight to it? Iโve had a look at their countryโs patent database and couldnโt find anything, and Iโve had a look at the UKโs one too.
Hi guys please help. I got an email from Etsy for "a notice of trademark infringement from Louis Vuitton Malletier alleging that certain material on Etsy is not authorized."
Etsy banned my shop which I'm okay with. But should I be worried? Is that all? Am I going to court? Please help I'm just a college student.
I am selling Naruto stud earrings on my shop. Today, i receive a Notice of Copyright Infringement. But on the etsy email i received it says:
Copyright Registration Number: ns Copyright Jurisdiction: ns
I have recevied this kind of notice before so I removed any copyright infringing name on my title or on the tags.
The name of the Naruto earrings iโm selling is โcute anime stud earringsโ and on my tags are just generic words like โanime earrings, etcโ
Should I file for DMCA counter notice? What does โnsโ even mean?
Itโs so frustrating. ๐ช๐ฉ
Does a tattoo constitute either? I went down a rabbit hole looking for patterns when I couldnโt sleep and my tattoo was on a site being sold as a pattern. I could not find any further information to this question. Should I ask in another sub? I have no clue how to find this out especially when they put on there it was hand made.
Hi all!
I'm after a little help and suggestions as to what I should do regarding a notice of intellectual property infringement.
I have produced some card stickers for decorating bank/travel cards the working dimensions of which have been taken from the ISO standards for Bank Cards. There are several sellers of card skins/stickers on Etsy (which still appear to be listed) and I've had no issues for the 2-3 months i've been selling these on Etsy.
The images I use on my card skins are sources from reputable royalty free websites.
I've received the notice this evening and had 11 listings removed - (yet there are still 69 remaining on my shop). The notice includes three patents which I am struggling to find much information on.
The patents are listed as
Card Applique patent
Card Cover Patent
Sticker for a card patent
Looking at this "seller" I have noticed that yes one of my produced designs (the shape of the sticker) is very similar to which, despite how alloying this whole thing is considering that bank cards are a universal standard, I am more than happy to adjust my designs however i'm struggling to see how a "sticker for a card" patent can be enforced - on that basis shouldn't every single item that sticks onto a bank type card fall fowl of this "patent".
The information in the post is very vague and there is nothing that says "this is the exact issue i have with your products"
I'm only a small seller, and without pulling the sympathy card i'm disabled and am doing this to try and earn a small living and give me some life goals to work towards! i'd appreciate any and all advice on this matter as i'd still like to keep selling my card skins/stickers
Hello everyone,
I've been on Etsy for a few years selling handmade jewelry, accessories, and decor. Recently, I started branching out into the fandom inspired side of things. For example, I make matching resin keychains that are inspired by Hogwarts houses (green/silver, yellow/black, etc). I never use any images, names, or other copyrighted items in the designs and always make sure to mark the listing as "Inspired" and not official. I never had any issues or complaints from Etsy or copyright.
As this side of my business started growing more, I decided to open up a second Etsy shop last week to separate my more finer jewelry from the other more nerdy pieces I was making. Low and behold, one of the listings I moved to the new shop got deactivated this week and I received a Notice of Intellectual Property Infringement. Note this listing is just necklaces with colored beads that match the different Hogwarts houses (again no images, quotes, etc. and marked as "inspired").
Is there a reason why it is being flagged that I don't know about? Am I still infringing on copyright and should I be worried about my other listings? I notice a bunch of other Etsy sellers that even use official images and names in their items and still have their listings up. Do I need to do anything about this notice or just leave the listing as deactivated?
I'm ok with taking them down if I really am still infringing on copyright, but I didn't think I was and I've never had any issues before. What should I do?
Hello there!
I am a photographer, I am based in Italy and in 2012 I have created a still life (photography of items) project that has been widely shared and seen around the world. The project didn't make me rich but it's been quite successful nonetheless and it's something quite recognizable that resonated with lots of people for its message of love and oneness.
Fast forward to this morning, I find a russian singer/band who has featured, in his 2018 album, images blatantly copied and inspired from my original project.
Please note I am not making the thing bigger than it is: as the project was copied before, I had to file different lawsuits respectively on italian and british ground (both went in my favour), so I know what to look for when claiming copyright infringement.
Does anyone know how the procedure is in Russia to warn the singer and claim the infringement? In UK there is something called Cease and Desist, is there anything similar in your country?
I have already emailed him/his staff and haven't got a reply, this is why I wanna proceed with further action.
Thanks
Hi,
I'm from the UK so looking for UK advice (US advice is welcome in the comments if anyone fancies answering for the US for the benefit of others who might be in a similar situation).
I read a publicly accessible study on clinical advice for GPs to give to patients (as a way of encouraging them to take up healthy behaviors) along with methods of recording patient progress (to be carried out by the patient). I have then gone and built an app following the principles, which reminds the patient as well as providing a method for them to record and track their progress.
I am considering reaching out to the original author of the paper I read to encourage them to get their patients to use the app once it has been released (I'm probably not even going to charge for it, however, I may decide to in future if it gains traction).
Could this be considered intellectual property infringement? The method is the same, although it exists in a very saturated and generic space of habit building/behavioural changes. I would hardly say that the method is revolutionary or anything I just don't want to end up in hot water over a side project!
I just wanted to post an update to my post from a couple of weeks ago where I was โhitโ with a notice of intellectual property infringement.
Between posting on here and the r/legaladviceuk I emailed the โcomplainerโ asking for details on what exactly was the issue, as without knowing I cannot address the issues. As expected I have received nothing in the way of a reply, and so I spoke with Etsy live chat and got a helpful lady who forwarded the email I wanted to send to Etsy legal department meant expressing concern how I had had zero response, only had a small number of listings removed (11 out of 79 exact bar the image which was royalty free anyhow), how the issue was territorial, and was struggling to move forward until I had a response.
I received a response from Etsy this evening consisting of
Hello,
Thanks for following up.
I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been able to get in touch with the complaining party. I know these situations can be frustrating. You may wish to keep trying, and hopefully you'll hear back soon.
Since Etsy is a venue, we are unable to mediate these matters or reach out to the complaining party on your behalf.
The listing(s) can't be reposted at this time. Unless we receive a formal withdrawal of the notice of infringement, you will not have the ability to reactivate the listing(s). In order for a notice to be withdrawn from your account, the complaining party must email legal@etsy.com directly in accordance with our Withdrawal Policy.
I canโt speak on the complaining partyโs behalf or offer legal advice about this. You may also want to consult an attorney with any concerns.
Regards, Sam Etsy Legal
So the gist of things is
Etsy do not support the little guys Etsy wonโt get involved with things If complainers donโt reply nothing will happen
I honestly donโt know what I am supposed to do now as I really am in limbo
Any advice, any suggestions for going forward, any suggestions of alternative platforms with some ounce of common sense
All advice appreciated and this (being scared to list for fear of another notice) and long with USPS issues have definitely hit my sales and confidence
A user on Thingiverse messaged me to say that one of my designs kept 404-ing. I went to take a look and found:
>This Thing is currently under moderation: due to a Notice of Claimed Intellectual Property Infringement from the Lego Group (LEGO A/S, LEGO Juris A/S and LEGO System A/S)
I did a search on "LEGO" and everything I clicked on had been 404'd. It would be a bummer if everything stays taken down.
Hi all!
I've previously posted this in r/EtsyCommunity and its been recommended that I ask for advice in the legaladvice subreddits.

I'm England based and said "seller" is Canadian
