A list of puns related to "Phish discography"
and new album this month. go get some TOOL up in you today!
It's the first time where I am having trouble finding things I want to find. From the early days of OiNK to the fall of What.CD there is only ONE TIME I could not get an album I wanted. I broke down and bought it and uploaded it to what.cd. Someone had to....
Since what.cd fell it has never been the same. Deezloader/Deemix/etc. have been pretty cool up until now... You can only get 128kbps unless you pay for premium. I know some people are scamming their way to getting the free month again and again... but that's not a permanent solution in my eyes.
Redacted is awesome and the community and staff tries super hard, but it will never be what.cd simply because the vast majority of people who used to use it have become content paying for streaming services. There aren't enough people to contribute, so it's library pales in comparison to what.cd.
There's large gaps in artists' discography's. Lots of torrents are dead or only have 1 seeder. So many things uploaded go unsnatched, so it's super difficult to keep up with ratio requirements. There's a lot of smaller and niche content that I'm unable to find too. In particular, I am into a lot of jam bands and like to listen to their live soundboard recordings that they release of just about every show they play. Bands like Phish, Umphrey's, Lotus, moe., and so on. On what.cd, you were able to find pretty much any show from any era even for the smaller bands on the circuit. After a band played a show, the soundboard would be up within hours after it was released on nugs.net. Nowadays, you're lucky if you get it in a few weeks, you're almost always using your upload buffer downloading a FLAC even if you're perfectly OK with having an mp3, and sometimes you just will never be able to find it.
The demand and enthusiasm for the sites just isn't there. I invited so many of my friends to red when it opened that were enthusiastic participants of what and oink. The vast majority of them have been banned. Times change. Such is life I guess.
In 2021, during a bumper-crop year for live albums and collaborations, John Dwyer released an album called Endless Garbage. Though seemingly of-a-kind with the Bent Arcana and Moon-Drenched improv records, it's actually quite a different beast. As explained by the man himself, β...one day, I hear a frenetic, free drummer playing in his garage a few blocks from me. And I think βinterestingβ. I stand outside his garage staring at the wall, like a fool, for a minute, then decide to leave a note on the car parked there. This is how I ended up meeting and working with Ted Byrnes. He wasnβt creeped out, and he ended up sending me a pile of truly spontaneous drums recordings from the carport to work with. I decided to have every musician come in one at at time and just take a wild pass at their track over the drums. None of these people had ever met or played together. I was the connecting thread.β So, rather than a group playing together in a room, Dwyer presented each participant with the different drum tracks and had them freely improvise over it. He also added some of his own playing, and mixed/edited the whole project into something a bit more consistently interesting and intelligible.
When is a remix album not really a remix album?
In 1998, Bill Laswell released Panthalassa: The Music Of Miles Davis 1969-1974. Though it is ostensibly billed as a remix album, Laswell did far more than just add some beats here or there or elongate the music to danceable lengths. As Allmusic.com put it, he β...occasionally deleted the rhythm sections, brought up obscured instruments, added Indian and electronic droning sounds from elsewhere on the tapes, constructed moody transitions, and premiered previously unreleased passages from Davis' sessions.β This is interesting because in some sense this makes Panthalassa a remix of a remix. Much like what Can was doing contemporaneously in Germany, Miles Davis and resolute collaborator/producer Teo Marcero would edit down tapes of lengthy jams, sometimes repeating vamps/run throughs of different song sections, other times cross-editing different takes of songs together. A great example is found on the seminal Bitches Brew album. The song 'John McLaughlin' (which features no trumpet or playing from Miles Davis at all) is actually an edited excerpt of an especially great solo from McLaughlin during a take of the album's title track.

I watched that two-part video of Trey geeking out about his gear, and between 2:30-2:45 he does some (relatively) simple sounding rhythm playing, but the physical mechanics of the playing are just awesome. I own started transcribing a lot of Trey since I really found out about Phish, but Iβm realizing that thereβs also some mechanical stuff, choices for chord/phrase positioning, etc. that I am not getting from the audio alone. If you have any examples of Treyβs playing up close (even for like 10 seconds) it would be super helpful! I donβt know too much of the discography yet so you might turn me on to some new songs too π Thanks! PS: also β want to start transcribing mike so thatβs cool too
Do your worst!
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
What did 0 say to 8 ?
" Nice Belt "
So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
When I got home, they were still there.
I won't be doing that today!

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
There hasn't been a post all year!
So I've been looking at the first few setlist from this tour and I noticed they are all identical. Not one change between the three nights. And I'm wondering: is there a known reason behind this?
Now, this is not a judgement on the quality of the setlist. And I also realize there are levels to how much bands change up a setlist, from Phish/Pearl Jam's change-everything-each-night to... well, Thrice's don't-change-anything-ever. And I get why big pop stars with a huge production have a standard set for a whole world tour, since they have to hit every beat with wardrobe-changes, dancers and got knows what else. But surely Thrice has the space and ability to change 2-3 songs from night to night, even if it is an A-B-A-B rotation? I'm just curious if any of the band members ever mentioned anything in regards to this. I know that, historically, as the tour progresses one or two changes might occur, but they have the discography, musical ability and dedicated fans (that would be elated with a deeper cut, instead of the show falling flat because the audience doesn't know it) to mix things up a bit (more).
Itβs pronounced βNoel.β

Hey all. Unfortunately, due to lack of responses, I've cancelled the Woods TTT. There just wasn't enough interest.
