A list of puns related to "Ornithology (composition)"
Hi all, Iβm in Australia and thinking about starting a journey to become an ornithologist. I know I need to start with a bachelor of science but Iβm struggling to find anything with avian studies. Are there universities here that are better to study at for a pathway to birds?
Hi everyone. I've been interested in ornithology for a long time now, but I've never actually gotten to study it and now I'm looking for some books/articles, etc. that I can begin with. Any suggestions? Thx
The title says it quite well, I just aced my 5th semester as a 4.0 gpa Biology major and I want to pursue Ornithology after graduating from undergrad. However, Iβm very lost as of where to start looking, how I know if Iβm just a birdwatcher or if I really care about the science of birds, and what opportunities are out there for Ornithologists.
Apologies in advance if my post breaks any rules of the subreddit, I just donβt know of anywhere else to post this. I donβt find this to be a βQuestion easily googleable or looked up on Wikipediaβ, Iβve already tried that multiple times.
Has anyone taken these classes recently or know of any other easy life science electives/ labs?

Excerpt from the Vox article:
>First launched in 2000, BirdCast runs on software that analyzes weather radar to discern whatβs a bird versus a cloud or another object. That analysis produces a map of the US that shows where birds are migrating in the sky, like the one above, with warmer (oranger) regions showing where thereβs more bird traffic β that is, more birds moving through an area at a given time. Pretty neat, right?
>BirdCast also produces three-day forecasts, which estimate nighttime movements because the vast majority of North American birds migrate after dark. Researchers have a good idea of how weather affects their journeys β temperature, which affects the speed and direction of wind, is especially important for determining when birds travel, Farnsworth said. By leveraging weather forecasts, BirdCast estimates where birds might migrate in the near future.
Hello!
Apologies if the title doesn't make much sense. I'm so conflicted over future field choices! for two years now I've been focused just on international politics, but recently, I've considered the choice of including ornithology as an option. I've always avoided it, as I've heard it's not very similar to birding, but, a summer of volunteering at the Field Museum/years of loving birding + being in a city with many interesting bird-related EC programs has sparked my interest in pursuing Ornithology anyways. How "hard" of a field is Ornithology? What kind of math should I focus on? (I'm sorta bad at math so I do need to strengthen that on my own time) Do you guys have any recommended books/sources to start off learning about Ornithology? Do you recommend birding extracurriculars in high school? What steps did you guys take to get where you are? I would just love to hear about the experiences of anyone in this field.
Thank you!!
Hello. I'm working on my degree plan for a Wildlife Biology concentration in a Natural Resource Mgmt degree and can choose between an Ornithology or Ichthyology class. In the long run I'm guessing it won't make any difference but anyone have thoughts about which I should choose? Most my other classes will be mammals and vegetation, although I am planning a fisheries class and fresh water ecology class. The only other bird class planned is waterfowl mgmt.
Thanks for any input!
