A list of puns related to "Nordic walking"
I remember the name having something in a nordic language like fjord or something similar. There are people walking and sometimes a korean appears in an old tv yelling stuff lol. And sometimes i think they walk single filed on a bridge one behind the other. And then you see them on an old tv, camera zooms out. The rythm is kinda techno genre, or house not sure

Trekking poles aid in upright posture which prevents you from hunching forward and overusing abdominal muscles, which in turn takes pressure off the knees

I noticed Nordic walking/pole running gained a lot of popularity in the past few years, especially amongst the elderly. It's promoted as something amazing: burns more calories, leads to less injuries, works more muscles, improves posture, etc. Do you think it would bring significant benefits to someone with barefoot walking / running mechanics? Is that something you'd be willing to try?
I made a quick Google search and some people seem to be combining both already.
I cannot walk more than 20 minutes without nerve pain. But I can nordic walk for 70 minutes.
There is a mess between my l4 and l5.
My experience is:
There is much less stress in lower back when nordic walking. A % of thrust is coming from the hands rather than the legs. Therefore there is much less energy being moved from the legs to the upper body.
This is like have a 4wd, you have more stability. It is almost impossible to slouch with the correct nodric gate, it promotes a straight back.
Mentally it is a great boost to be able to move "long distances" without pain.
Not of much use for daily activities like supermarket but great for nature walks.
Consult your doctor, not medical advice.
I do a lot of Nordic walking right now, as I shouldn't be running for several more months for medical reasons :-(. T-Rex Pro, which I just got as an upgrade over Amazfit X (worst waste of money ever) doesn't support this type of exercise, so I wonder what's the closest option I should choose? Race walking? Hiking? Regular walking?
Has anyone found good apps to use with Nordic Walking. I am a new user and am essentially using running apps and data fields. I am willing to pay. (Also brand new to Reddit....)
I have always been a runner, but the past few years have had too many injuries to continue seriously. I recently discovered Nordic walking and learned that an hour at medium intensity is 12 FitPoints! Compared to running for an hour (which honestly I could never do now) at 15 points an hour, this is an incredibly efficient and much easier way to earn FitPoints. Plus it's gentle on the joints, a total body workout, and you can do it with a partner and chat the whole time. All you need are running shoes and the poles (I bought mine on Amazon for about $40, you send in your height to get the right size). There are videos on Youtube to show you the correct technique. Some of my friends tease me about it but I have my eyes on the 12 point prize. I also love hiking (11 FitPoints/hour) but don't always have time to get in the car to go to a trail. What are your favorite and biggest point per hour exercises?
I like nature and when I'm abroad I like to go hiking for a few hours but when the trails are to o uneven and rocky I have problems with my balance an somewhat weak ankles. Now I was thinking of maybe bringing some Nordic or normal walking sticks with me during my next trip. But I wonder will they be helpful for my overal balance or does it make things harder? I walked with Nordic Walking sticks before on a flat road but not an uneven trail through the mountains. And should one stick be enough or 2? (Need to think of the weight of course)
So I was wondering can someone start Nordic Walking when suffering from tennis elbow? Won't it make this worse? Not sure if this is the right question to ask in this groul, but then again couldn't find any thing about it on google.
