It was barely talked about so I wanted to shed some light about why the trailer from The Game Awards is so good. It is far from just being a random trailer used to drum up interest. It is a great showcase of Japanese animation both in 2D and 3D animation alongside some very high-profile names that you wouldn't expect. A collaboration between great minds under the direction of Suda51, who basically laid the groundwork of what No More Heroes 3 will be.
Let's talk about the animation studios first, and why they matter. The first animation studio is Kamikaze Douga, who are known for their work on the JoJo openings in the first three seasons. They already made quite a big splash for their way of confidently making 3D animation appealing, fluid and overall very enjoyable to watch. They have done the grunt of the work in the trailer, showcasing some very interesting shots such as how the rocket is built in a timeskip section, or how different art styles are displayed between the first and second half of the trailer.
The second is Shirogumi who does very impressive CGI movies for Dragon Quest and Lupin III that just released this month. They are responsible for the CGI sequence after the fake-out title screen with Travis Touchdown doing the iconic Akira bike slide. They were also responsible for the animation of the first trailer back in June.
Last but not least, we have AC-bu, a quirky but equally impressive 2-man studio known for their eclectic style for Bob Team Epic, and also for some of their totally mesmerizing clips. You can totally see what they worked on in the trailer, with their inimitable style.
These three studios worked in tandem in order to create the trailer of No More Heroes 3, which displays a lot of cool animation techniques that are quite sophisticated. The first half of the trailer uses 3D animation redrawn on top of it to make it look like cel-shaded 2D hybrid with a lot of fluidity. The second half blends 2D animation and 3D animation in the very same frame, down to the same shading when the lighting changes! The quirky animation changes when people are transformed into pink cloud is the work of AC-Bu, who also took the time to reference characters from their previous work. This is some really great an

Thinking about that picture of Nicholas Cage sorta cosplaying as Travis, should face masks be an optional clothing item in No More Heroes III? I think they would be cool, honestly (and kind of a joke, considering how the pandemic impacted the game).
Thoughts?
Not that we really need another swordsman but his wrestling moves would be pretty fun to use too.
