How we do frito pie in Amarillo- brisket, beans, green chile and cheese. The chile was hot, so I know it came from New Mexico. Itβs good to be home but I miss my fresh chile and canβt wait to be back this fall.

A friend brought some Hatch Green Chilies back from the Chile festival in New Mexico. Just roasted and peeled them last Sunday after church. Green Chile everything!

Colorado Green CHILI is better than New Mexico Green CHILE
Iβm so tired of these New Mexican transplants boasting they are the green chili state (yes, Iβm spelling it the CO way from now on). Green chili is literally on like every menu here. Our state food is practically Illegal Peteβs and for real, who doesnβt get it smothered. And donβt forget about the capital Casa Bonita. Iβm pretty sure Black Bartβs Cave is the only place chiliβs grow besides Pueblo and one part of New Mexico.
They are all so prideful. Itβs kind of just like they are an extension of Texas. I said it. New Mexicans are just Texans. Iβve lived here 8 months and I know all the best Green CHILI spots ever. Colorado really is the the greenest state! Much love.

List of legal plant seeds to import? (hoping for New Mexico/Hatch green chiles)
I'd like to grow proper New Mexico chile peppers if I can -- we made food with them every year growing up in the US southwest, and I miss them a lot -- but I can't find pages where allowed plant seeds are listed. They're a breed of capsicum anuum, much like the shishito pepper here.
I found one forum post where it was recommended to only send professional seed packets with the latin seed name on it, which I can definitely do, I'd just like to double-check before I have family go buy and send me seeds that will get confiscated and/or could get me in trouble for trying to bring in and grow.

My governor (Colorado) is in a media "fight" with New Mexico's governor about whose state has the best chiles. He posted this today: "Delicious banana, Pueblo Chile, peanut butter, and honey sandwich. Great with Pueblo red or green chile (this one is w ripened red chile)."
