A list of puns related to "Neutral buoyancy pool"
Went diving yesterday after a 2.5yr hiatus. Felt like with each breath I was rising and falling more than previous dives. I know some variation is expected while breathing, but this was much more than I was expecting.
Do I need to dial my weights/wet suit more? Smaller breaths? Just deal with it?
reading a fluid mechanics paper for a project but can't understand the thing because of that word
I want to build a replica of a submarine from a game I play, but I donβt know how much I will need to fill the ballast tanks. Can anyone help me out?
I'm building a midget sub and I've always had trouble getting subs to hold a certain depth; what would be the best method for attaining a neutral buoyancy or a hold depth?
Ensure that you have neutral buoyancy before you start thinking about increasing your PB in Dynamic Apnea (with or without fins). Neutral buoyancy means that the buoyancy force (B), which pushes you upwards, is equal to your weight (W), which is driving you downwards (gravity).

Hey all, I've been getting into smallmouth fishing on a local river this summer, and I have some questions about my setup and how to fish it. For reference, I'm using a 9ft 8wt with a floating line and Rio Big Nasty leaders (about 6ft, nylon) in the 12lb size. I cut the last 12-18 inches of the leader off, added a 40lb micro swivel, and then re-attached 12-18 inches of 12lb tippet. I have been fishing all of my streamers using a non-slip mono loop. My streamer box has a mixture of clousers, a crapload of wooly buggers size 2-8 (unweighted to conehead), crayfish, murdich minnows, lunch money streamers, game changers, and a few saltwater flies.
The river I fish has a handful of these pools and eddies, but they are off of fairly shallow, fast moving water from the main current. I've drawn an amateur sketch here: https://imgur.com/a/51Os2jY
When I cast from an opposing bank into that pool, the faster main current pulls my fly line and turns my streamer into a race boat. If I want to fish that pool (yellow oval), am I limited to conehead buggers and other heavy flies?
Thanks,
According to this article the legendary Lynne Cox had the perfect body-composition to neither sink nor float in seawater. Having neutral buoyancy helped her swim the crazy distances she swam with much less effort than most humans would need.
Does anyone have ideas on how a neutral buoyancy suit could be built for freshwater swimming? I donβt want to become obese to experience gliding effortlessly through the water. Another important factor is that the suit should not have a negative effect on my hydrodynamic profile- so no bulky solutions. Lastly, a sharkskin pattern could be used to improve hydrodynamics- might be expensive though.
Iβd like to use such suit to swim 15 km in one go. If possible it should be solved by using the right materials- nothing that needs gasoline or electricity.
Just brainstorming here!
Iβm a lifelong pool swimmer whoβs recently discovered the joys of open water (COVID19 silver lining). Temps where I swim are great at the moment (mid 60sF), but Iβm told theyβll drop come winter (possibly down to low 50s?), so Iβm trying to find a wetsuit for when that happens. Any suggestions for a LOW or NEUTRAL buoyancy wetsuit?
A cursory search seems to yield only one brand that specifically addresses and offers varying buoyancy wetsuitsβOrca. Problem: they donβt accept returns if you try a wetsuit in the water and it doesnβt work for you.
I recently tried and promptly returned an xterra (vector pro) wetsuit. There were a variety of small issues (fit, lack of arm mobility/shoulder flexibilityβwhich I expected). The major issue was the buoyancy in the legs was waaaay too much for me. I couldnβt kick properly, I felt like a cork being tossed around while my face was being actively shoved into the water, and my lower back was sore after a mile. The worst thing was the tossing-about sensation caused nausea that came on mid-swim and progressed until it had me lying useless and pathetic on my living room floor for 6 hours afterwards. Iβd definitely like to avoid a repeat of that, but I wouldnβt have known if I hadnβt tried the wetsuit out!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
