Did you have to make a buoyancy aid with your pyjamas when you were at swimming lessons?

Husband and I having an arguement. I was doing a 'bit' about how no shipwreck survivor had ever said 'oh thank goodness I learned to tie a knot in my pyjamas and make an air pocket in swimming lessons, I wouldnt have survived without it ' and he looked at me like I was crazy - please tell me I'm not crazy and this was actually a thing and my instructor Keith wasn't just a weirdo!
