Apologies for lack of details, this was recommended to me, not something I read.
From the vague description I got, it involved a journey along the coastline of a European country. It could be the Netherlands, Germany or maybe a Scandinavian country. From what I can recall it focused heavily on introspection and culture. Maybe there was a historical, philosophical or anthropological angle to it. I am almost certain that it's fiction, but I can't be sure.
Again, sorry about the few points I could offer, I tried to find it for a while yesterday but came up short.
Got directed here by a fellow booklover, so here it goes...
I'm looking for a book that I borrowed a lot from the library in the mid 2000s. It's Dutch children's literature (could be translated, I'm not 100% sure) about the origins of Dutch pirate and slave trader Mourad Reis (Jan Janszoon). The first half of the book focuses on his youth in the Netherlands and cuts off when he abandons his family for riches.
The second part jumps to his daughter who stayed behind in the Netherlands. She follows rumours of her father's success to track him down and confront him with all he did wrong in his life. I remember that the book touches upon the slave trade with a good amount of maturity and openly questions if Jan was ever a good man in the first place.
Cover is illustrated. Primary colour is ochre or sable and the primary feature is a person that has the lower half of their face hidden behind a veil. There also were some trees and silhouettes, I believe.
It's a long shot, but if anybody remembers a book like this, please let me know.
Edit with added info: The book I'm looking for has no pictures and is geared towards a slightly older audience, I'd say 10 - 14.
Almere is the newest city in the Netherlands, built on reclaimed land from the IJsselmeer in 1968. This contrasts greatly with other cities in the Netherlands with their medieval roots. How does the organic growth of historic Amsterdam compare to the master-planned city of Almere? Does Almere incorporate the described urban designs talked about in this show? How does Almere compare to other planned cities like Brasilia or Shiekh Zayed City? How will hydraulic engineering influence cities in the future?
I've been reading DragonLance novels since my buddy got me hooked on them in 1993. I bought the ones as they interested me, at first, and then went toward collecting them all in fits and starts over the years. For a while I had a list of "The Missing Six" which were the remaining six that were not so much missing as expensive. Eventually, over time, I would convince myself to pick one up (or I'd find one at a reasonable price). Now I only have one more to go, but it really *is* missing (very hard to find at all, for me).
I've found it on the Amazon.nl site for the Netherlands, but they won't ship to me. Anybody able to get shipping from NL and pass it along? Will be happy to prepay costs via whatever platform seems best. Hoping someone can help me out here!

Does anyone happen to know where one would be able to order the official English translation of the LN in the Netherlands? I've found something on a popular online store in the Netherlands. (Bol.com) but the publisher wasn't Yen Press. So I started to doubt if it was an official translation. The publisher was Little Brown & Company. If that rings any bells.

Last week a close friend slept with a guy after a party. While totally consensual until the actual sex part, when she asked him to put a condom on he said "yeye" and then just penetrated her raw. Now this guy aint no saint and has had multiple stds so my friend is rightly freaking out. She is doing tests and all but the guy is being an absolute ass and blowimg off any request to test himself too. I wanted to ask you fine people if you know any Dutch laws that can help my friend get some justice. I feel like, despite the inital consent, if you ask someone to put a condom on and they dont it should be considered rape, right? Any of you have anywhere I can look for laws, regulations etc.?
