A list of puns related to "Nasal reconstruction using a paramedian forehead flap"
Hi. I've decided that I want to get FFS but I'm still very early on in the process. I was wondering if there are limits to how much type 3 reconstruction can reduce your brow before they have to do a type 1 as well. I have a quite prominent brow ridge despite passing in pretty much every other area of my face. I keep seeing before and after photos for type 3, but none of the patients have as prominent "before" picture as me from what I've been able to find.
Thank you all for your time and have a wonderful day
I'm having a DIEP Flap reconstruction done in January and I'm genuinely terrified. I just feel like every step of my cancer journey has been one terrifying experience after another. Any thoughts on what to expect for recovery time and severity? If anyone has had this procedure done and is willing to share their experience, I could just really use some reassuring that it won't be as scary as I keep building it up to be.
Some relevant background. I'm 32, had a double mastectomy back in May, radiation, AC/T chemo, and am on Tamoxifen and Zoladex.
I'm simply posting this because when I was preparing for PAP flap reconstruction, I couldn't seem to find anyone that had had it, so I wasn't able to ask questions to anyone who had experienced it. So if anyone is considering it and has questions, please comment or DM me!
I'm looking for some thoughts on this. There are no plastic surgeons offering true FFS in my country (South Africa) and I'm finally in a position where I can afford it going abroad provided I stay within limits (maybe $25k at a push). With exchange rates not in my favour, the logistical hurdles of travel with the pandemic and being a long way away if there are issues afterwards, I started looking at options closer to home.
South Africa generally has excellent healthcare facilities (in the private sector) and very highly skilled doctors so in ordinary circumstances there are no reasons to seek out surgery in a foreign country. I'm not sure if the market is too small or if the stigma/acceptance of trans people are still an issue in the medical community that there hasn't been any surgeons specialising in this area.
I have, however found a plastic and craniofacial surgeon in my city who I believe has the technical ability to do a type 3 forehead. He regularly does much more invasive cranial surgery for congential deformities as well as rebuilding people's faces after accidents. He also offers all the usual soft tissue work plastic surgeons do. Coincidentally he's also the surgeon that performed the world's first penis transplant which was a huge success and he's had many enquiries from trans men about this. He has excellent ratings and was extremely attentive and forthcoming in my consultation with him. I showed him the papers the Facialteam surgeons published about their technique and he said it's actually much less invasive than what he regularly needs to do to correct deformities. He said it definitely seems possible so now I'm just waiting for his staff to work out a quote for me. They can also do the simultaneous hair transplant like FT.
I was set on going to Facialteam (with Slutskaya or Cardenas a distant second choice) but now I have another option. Depending on the price I'm thinking of going to this surgeon. Or do you think it's too risky considering he hasn't done this exact procedure before?
Hi, I'm looking at clinics for forehead reconstruction and hairline reduction surgery.
I'm from Denmark, so there's no clinics in my country. Anyone here who's had this procedure done with success anywhere in the EU (outside of FacialTeam, they're just very expensive), or should I go look for clinics in America?
Will take any suggestion for surgeon in EU or America :)
Hey reddit,
I'm planning to get a forehead reconstruction (among other things) done for FFS as soon as I can afford it. I've decided to not go with a rhinoplasty since I really like my nose, its size and shape is pretty nice except that it has a noticeable but small hump where the bone meets the cartilage.
My question is is it possible to have that removed during a normal Type 3 forehead reconstruction? For reference I'm eyeing Facialteam for the surgery.
It's definitely something that I wouldn't warrant spending several grand on a rhino for but that would still be nice if it could be rectified in one go.
Hello lovely people,
please help me out. I am really sad about the current situation.
So I am from germany and looking for a forehead reconstruction type 3, a forehead/brow lift and ptosis correction.
I have researched a lot for germany and europe, but I cant seem to find someone who does ptosis correcion with non-incisional method like they do it in South Korea. + I think South Korea is really good for anything eye-related, since they do so many DES and I think Ptosis as well?
However, I am not Asian, so I have "european" facial features, including the eyes.
Do you think they still perform well with eye surgery in korea?
Second thing is that I really want a Forehead Lift and Forehead reconstruction, since my Browbown is really large. This type 3 reconstruction is where you take out the bone, reshape it and put it back in place, I have not seen any clinic so far in Korea who does that. It is part of FFS (Facial Feminisation Surgery).
I only saw that ID does FFS, but I have not seen anything about the exact procedure + I want to avoid ID cause of ghost doctor stories that I have heard.
So please please please if you know any clinic who performs these kinds of surgeries hit me up. I really canΒ΄t seem to find anything.
In Europe I found FacialTeam for the forehead thing, but they donΒ΄t do brow lifts that well as far as I know and I really need a brow lift too.
But I donΒ΄t want to undergo two surgeries just for the forehead. For me that really does not make any sense, since I will have two incisions/scars then at worse.
Maybe Thailand might be an option? I canΒ΄t seem to find a lot of information though.
TLDR: Any clinic in South Korea that performs Ptosis Correction, FFS (Forehead reconstruction Type 3) in combination with forehead lift?
Thanks so much!
Keep in mind that I'm planning to get grs there too, and my goal would be to get both grs and ffs in one sit, and to get travel, stay and part of the grs refunded by my country's healthcare system (they should refund 80% of an operation that isn't available in the healthcare system, or one whose waiting times are too long). So i hoped I could pay just 20% of the grs (around 2000β¬, if i got the maths right) and the rhino+tracheal+forehead. How much would I pay in this scenario? Is 12k too optimistic?
In case, I may also get the tracheal shave refunded, too, cause that one is performed in my country by the healthcare as well, but if they dont refund me, I'll simply do it here; so if 12k isnt enough for the original plan, would it fit, if it didnt include the tracheal?

Iβm a grad student trying to get my work done with chemo brain, and caffeine was the only thing that helped much. Without that, things have definitely been harder. I just had a single mastectomy with a bilateral PAP flap for reconstruction and Iβm not seeing my doctor until next week so I wondered what you guysβ experiences are with length of caffeine restrictions?
I need a major reconstruction, in my second surgery my nose was shortened and now my columella is flat and straight, I look like a newborn, I am considering Dean Toriumi, I like his results and I have seen in his instagram cases of what I need, I have found some bad reviews about him but people complaining of getting wider noses after their revisions, I donβt care, at this point, I just want a normal and functional nose. His assistant told me that the estimated amount for my case is 28k + 6/7k for anesthesia and hospital = 35k, I am going to have an appointment with him soon so letβs see. Anyone have had experience with him?
*I need an expert in the field, I canβt keep doing this my whole life, I am depressed.
I see that most surgeons fill fix the reshaped frontal bone to the rest of the forehead using titanium screws/microplates, however I've also seen resolvable sutures used as an alternative to keep the bone in place. I was wondering if the use of sutures makes any major difference and whether the forehead would eventually heal like a standard bone fracture?
