A list of puns related to "Muse discography"
(This is the dorkiest thing I've ever posted here, I'm so sorry)
The no-brainer answer would probably be a straightforward scifi/dystopian drama. Think a loose mashup of the story from Drones and Simulation Theory, with bits of BHaR, Absolution, T2L etc. sprinkled throughout. (I am drawing a blank a bit at how to incorporate Showbiz and OoS.)
Or you could go the meta route and have three friends from Teignmouth trying to write and sell said scifi/dystopian drama script in Hollywood, their efforts occasionally getting sidetracked by Ma-- er, the lead friend's delusions of grandeur and conspiracy theories. A jetpack and a Slipknot mask will be involved.
And because both Muse and musical theater love their melodrama, the main focal point could be a pair of star-crossed lovers torn apart by SOCIETY. Picture a ton of sad, touching, pining-from-afar duets of Unintended, Madness or Eternally Missed.
There will be a big showstopping musical number towards the end of the 2nd act. Depending on the tone/plot, take your pick from Uprising, Time Is Running Out or The Dark Side. If the 2nd act ends on a Les Mis-style downer note, swap out Citizen Erased or The Globalist instead.
The entire story could have an ending like >!Snowpiercer, where humanity is all but wiped out but there's still a sliver of hope for a new world left!<, set to Exogenesis.
.... Or, you know, a 3-hour extended version of the Knights of Cydonia music video works too.
An anthemic stadium stomp describing the world in complete meltdown. Has some funk elements while in my opinion retaining a Muse-esque sound.
The vocals on the chorus remind me of Map of the Problematic as well as the the guitar effect at the start .
It's a U2 song on steroids which I think fits well into the bombastic, yet messy but beautifully aura of the 2nd Law.
I CANNOT overstate this enough, the lyrics are truly truly memorable, including one of my favourite Muse lines of all time;
We have destroyed something beautifull We have faith, but our truths are not the same
Overall extremely underated song that really showcases Mattโs range especially.
Agree or disagree? Let me know :)
Hi. Yesterday I challenged myself to listen to all muse discography while sleeping. That's around 8 hours, so was perfect. And that's what I did. I organized all the albuns in chronological order and went to sleep. I fell asleep while listening to Hyper Music and woke up 5 am listening to Assassin. Then I fell asleep again and I had a dream where MK Ultra was playing in the background. Then woke up with Dig Down. That was some kind of psychodelic experience.
In my poll that I conducted (link here), I used allourideas.org to rank Muse's discography with the help of you people. We got a whopping 16,892 votes from around 159 unique users. If you donโt know, the way that the survey worked was this as follows: you were shown two songs at random, and you had to choose which one you preferred. You could vote an unlimited number of times. Here's the results. All 90 main album songs, ranked. First, the songs that achieved a score of 70 or greater, of which there were 13.
Rank | Song | Score |
---|---|---|
1 | Citizen Erased | 82.92 |
2 | Knights of Cydonia | 82.51 |
3 | Stockholm Syndrome | 80.12 |
4 | Plug In Baby | 79.47 |
5 | Hysteria | 79.39 |

10 | Showbiz | 72.61 |
11 | The Handler | 71.43 |
12 | Reapers | 71.29 |
13 | Muscle Museum | 70.43 |
If you browse this subreddit at all, you should not be surprised at #1. However, Iโm surprised by Showbiz and Knights of Cydonia being as high as they are. Iโm REALLY surprised at how high Reapers is on here. I know this isnโt very hard-hitting analysis, but this isnโt the Radiohead subreddit so I donโt feel Iโll be crucified for it. Anyway, hereโs the songs that scored above a 50.
Rank | Song | Score |

15 | MK ULTRA | 67.03 |

These are all the songs that people like, but donโt circlejerk constantly in the subreddit about. I feel like some of these songs are lower than they should be because of their mainstream popularity, but thatโs just
... keep reading on reddit โกJust wondering 'cause they were kinda grunge/punk during their early days.
So, my tendinitis hurts but i finally took the time to add the remaining songs to my playlist and organize it!
it has all the full albums, all the b sides and all the covers, plus some bonuses
i didn't add instrumental short covers such as cherub rock or america, although maybe some of these are instrumental originally and i did not know.
if anything is missing or you feel i should add something specific tell me below!
enjoy!
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0Z4DCU52Z6rqqA2LUne5Wvy_3mqsv1vJ
ah, i didn't add who knows who but that's because it is barely a muse song at all
I am aware that this has been done recently (4 months or something) but I wasn't around then and just kind of wanted to see how it panned out. Stuff is interesting! You can vote infinitely and it gives you two songs to pick between each time.
Here is the link: http://www.allourideas.org/museentirediscography
I've only included all album songs with obvious exclusions like Intro, JFK etc. and included Spiral Static, Futurism, Dead Star, In Your World and Fury. Enjoy! Can't wait to get some nice juicy data.
The way Matt belts โI WILL AVENGEEEโ in City of Delusiom
Everything in the breakdown of City of Delusion (the bassline buildup, then the feedback noise, then the muted guitar)
The way the guitar octaves mirror his vocal line (โjustify my reasonsโ) in City of Delusion
City of Delusion
The way he cracks his voice in Falling Down (WAAAAAAAASNT YOUUU)
That beautiful arpeggio in the chorus of Stockholm Syndrome
The way Citizen Erased fades into Micro Cuts, and the way Falling away with you fades into Interlude
Using this new website that I just discovered, I want to try to get a handle on what Muse fans think their best songs are.
PLEASE READ: You will be given pairs of songs to choose from without end. You can do this as many times as you want. The more you vote, the more that your personal taste will be reflected in the results. I'm not sure if this community has a large enough sample size to get a good result, but I guess we'll see. I'll give it 24-48 hours, maybe more if we need more votes.
Note: This only includes the main album songs. No B-Sides, bonus tracks, live recordings, etc. If I made a mistake in the song listing, PM me. By mistake I mean a typo, not being angry at me because I didn't include your favorite B-Side.
When I listen to any Muse song, I just wish I could hear it for the first time again, you know? What do you think?
Seriously, if you're a Muse fan at all I recommend checking out the videos of the Shepherd's Bush concert the other night. Full of Muse fans gathered in collective delight at all these rarely-heard songs being belted out live for the first time in years. The band was having the time of their lives too. I know a lot of people here have been a little disappointed in GD's setlists this tour, and I think for that crowd it'd be amazing if they did a few smaller shows on the side like this. Probably too busy this tour but maybe they can try something like this in their initial club/small venue tour next album?
Thoughts?
^edit: ^just ^noticed ^I ^fucked ^up ^the ^title. ^to ^play ^god ^fucking ^damn ^it.
So I just saw a post from u/tommibrni that was an appreciation post for Drones. One of the things he talked about was how thematic and daunting The Globalist was as how haunting and eerie Drones is, and together I agreed that those two songs made for a fantastic album closer.
That got me thinking really really deeply about other album closers that rival that like Exogenesis or something like that. So, to broaden that, I wanna ask about a few things that appear throughout Museโs discography. If any of these interest you or you have a strong opinion about any of these things, please answer them. You can answer as many as you want, all of them if you want. If you have other kinds of things that others can also discuss, feel free to mention it, but hereโs are some examples and how Iโd respond to them:
Best Album Closer: The Globalist/Drones or Exogenesis
Best Album Opener: New Born through Space Dementia
Best Grouping of Songs (preferably a max of four): First Four Songs on BHaR or Animals, Explorers, and Big Freeze (I personally donโt love Big Freeze, but it works with the previous two songs so extremely well).
Best Piano Work: Space Dementia or Butterflies and Hurricanes
Best Lyric: โIโll wait a thousand years just to see you smile again.โ -Resistance or โFear and Panic in the air; I want to be free from desolation and despair.โ -Map of the Problematique
Coolest Title (itโs weird ik, but itโs still cool discussion): Map Of The Problematique or United States of Eurasia [+Collateral Damage]
Best Drum Work (You go, Dom!): Assassin (too much fun to play) or Animals
Coolest Instrument Usage in a Song: Choral Arrangement in Survival or the haunting acoustic guitar and ambient bells and noises in Screenager
Favorite 10 Seconds of a Song: The second โI canโt get it right. Get it right since I met you,โ in Problematique or that part in Hoodoo where Matt sings, โDonโt be afraaaaaid.โ
Those are just some choices, but if you have anything else, or any other miscellaneous topics like that youโd wanna talk about, pleeeease let me know. I love Muse discussions so gd much.
We all know that MUSE is a particularly fanatical group of the Sci-Fi scenario. Drones was entirely focused on a serious overtone and i love that because is the exact previous album to Simulation Theory, which works more as a crazy, fun and sometimes, just sometimes serious Sci-Fi musical piece of cake.
The main reason that made me love this new album so much is the fact that it is the music MUSE actually enjoy making, they're enjoying themselves and that's great. We need nothing more than taking a few looks at the connection within the MVs or the pictures they're uploading on their social media to notice that.
I love the music that is made with love, and i may have problems digesting songs as Something Human, but i can't deny how great ST is. Anyone else thinks the same as me?
(IMO) Aquors' current discography definitely has better production but I guess its just because music evolves.
I do wish, even if its not possible, that some Muse songs would be remastered in some way though.
So basically I've always listened to Muse here and there through the past couple years, but would like to go see them on tour this year and want to get to know the whole discography. I know and listen to practically all of their biggest hits from Origin, Absolution, and Black Holes like Knights of Cydonia, Plug in Baby, and Hysteria for example. I also listened to Drones all the way through multiple times when it came out and enjoyed it. Where do you recommend I go from here on this amazing journey?
*Also, any advice for getting tickets easily? Trying to get one for the Philly show at 1pm when they go on sale.
Hello r/Muse,
I made a poll that you can vote in to accordingly rank your favorite albums and songs by Muse on a total ranking coming soon. I know someone is already doing something similar with a "survivor" system, but I wanted to see if this could get different results at all or if we could see anything surprising.
Here's how it works:
The top-voted album will have 8 points applied to all of its songs, second to the top-voted will have 7, third will have six, etc.
The top-voted song in each album will have points equal to the number of songs in that album (excluding remixes, intros, and live versions). Second place will have that number minus one, third place minus two, etc.
After data collection concludes, I will make another post that has a link to a spreadsheet with overall rankings.
Hullabaloo, HAARP, and Rome Olympic are not included in the contest.
Happy voting, and may the best win! The link is down below!
I've always been a huge fan of 2nd Law but over the years I've seen it get a bad rep, "veering away from the Muse sound" or too much orchestral sounds then they need.
I'm wondering from this small sample size how you feel about the album.
I still love a lot of their early albums but I felt so refreshed at the variety and explosiveness of the album. Going from Madness, a slow love ballad to the groovin' Panic Station to the heart-racing Prelude+Survival, Follow Me was meh, but then onto the awesome showcase of Matt's guitar on Animals. I don't see how this album was received negatively.
Animals definitely ranks in some of my favourite Muse tracks of all time.
I just found this on youtube and really enjoyed it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBNQOzgglrE
As shown in this thread but including Simulation Theory? Thanks!

Let's admit it guys, Muse isn't the best at ordering their albums. Would you re-organize the tracklisting in any of their albums? E.g. Hysteria -> Blackout is a very bad transition. E.G. Map of the Problematique -> Soldiers Poem.
Hi! I was watching Danisnotonfire's apartment tour and I noticed the Muse poster he had in his lounge. I've been searching for it everywhere but I couldn't find it. Here is the poster I'm looking for. Anyone know where to find it?
Hey fellow musers, do any of you know where I can purchase the Muse discography poster? I've looked at the Muse US store and on Amazon and they don't have it. Thanks for your help.
