Instead of walking up and back from either Glen Esk or Glen Tanar, have any if yous bagged Mount Keen walking through from one to the other? Cant find a walk report despite walkhighlands saying it's a good option. • XFX TS 550W 80-plus gold (from the PC of a friend's little brother)
• Samsung evo 250GB (grabbed secondhand for REALLY cheap, like $30cad) UPDATE: It was actually from a friend's old PC, so he got it for free, too!
• WD black 1TB & 500GB (found them in a random drawer in my house, they're ancient)
• some crate we found in an alley and cleaned up. No case fans. We were going to use a hot pink "legally blonde 2"-branded milk crate originally but it turned out to be too small
• only a power button. No idea where it came from or who brought it in UPDATE: It was also ripped out of the little brother's old PC, and it was the restart button. Since it was still a 1pin connector we just plugged it into the powerSW slot and it seems to work just fine!

EDIT1: Holy shit, we did not expect this post to blow up to this degree! Here are some general responses to some of the most common questions/ responses:

1. "How is this ghetto? These specs are better than mine!" - It's a PC that's made entirely out of hand-me-downs, and it's built into a crate with zero cable management. The fact that the parts are pretty good in of themselves is out of sheer luck, and some kindness, too. As for the "found a 7700 in a drawer," yeah we think it's as funny and ridiculous as you guys do! We didn't mean to shame any of your guys' builds either, since even if your specs aren't technically as good, it probably looks a thousand times better on your desk/ floor and won't

Sa-Jitu dealers and brokers began to horde the precious mineral – most modern drive systems relied on the rare natural crystals within it – and inevitably the financial ripples spread out. Drive maintenance and construction prices increased exponentially, haulage rates too. Commodity prices went up all across the outer worlds. Income did not, businesses closed, employment was hard to come by, and basics like food and replacement atmospheric gases became scarce. An interstellar slump, hard times.

The trailing rim had it really bad. The reports were hard to watch, like a throwback to a past age. Smuggled footage of starving, desperate, rag-clad Sa-Jitu miners mobbing store towers, of hollow-eyed younglings gasping for air as they cut down the oxygen percentage by another point.

There were other sources of tansta, of course, it wasn't like the drives were going to stop working or anything, but the quality of ore was lower and the reserves were difficult to exploit. Prices were going to stay high.

Not that the humans were affected, of course they weren't. Their chunky, rugged ships used different tech foundations, inertial fields and Halden Coils and warp inducers, ugly and a little slower maybe but solid and reliable. Their vessels had always been politely ignored by the other races, who preferred the elegant Sa-Jitu designs, but now, what with the building difficulties, they were in demand. Human shipyards were inundated, their books overflowing with orders for replacement drive units and even new ships.

And that news coincided with the loss of the Sal-Kath Mar, the big Jith-Mestu Corporation transport that famously vanished out beyond the Metac nebula, never emerging from hyper, taking with it half a years' worth of refined minerals and rare earths scratched from the harsh Sa-Jitu worlds out along the rim. Knocked the stuffing out of their electronics manufacturers, weapons makers and all of the other industries that been relying on her precious cargo.

Humans had their own sources, stocks in abundance in the way that humans always do, and the Sa-Jitu had no choice but to purchase from their neighbour's volatile, overpriced markets. Near bankrupted them.

Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.

This “list” aims to analyze the Far Eastern unifiers and what their regimes would mean for Russia. I’m not making this a typical “tier list” that ranks the best and worst unifiers on things like how fun they were to play(they were all engaging in their own ways). Instead, I’d like to look at the unifiers and what their policies would mean for Russia. When examining the unifiers, I’m looking at what the regime would mean to the average Russian, how they improve or degrade their societies, how likely they would be at reunifying Russia as a whole, and the stability/longevity of the regime. This list is highly subjective, for what follows is my interpretation, but I’d like to believe that my interpretation is deeper than just “Authoritarianism bad, Democracy good”. Finally, I would like this to try and spark some discourse. I really had a great time playing these unifiers and plan to go on to Central Siberia after I’m done with this list. Thank you to anyone that reads this and chooses to engage :)

11. Rodzaevsky:

I think that it goes without saying that Rodzaevsky’s Russia would be horrible for a vast majority of the Russian People and the world at large. Firstly, the man at the top is an utter nut. Rodzaevsky is a crackpot who is prone to violent outbursts and is plagued by paranoia. In every corner the man sees “suspected” degenerates (be that jews, bolsheviks, etc.) and/or traitors. This compounded with his unhealthy adoration (and later hatred) of the Germans results in a leader who will undoubtedly drive Russia to ruin.

The men that Rodzaevsky surrounds himself with aren’t much better than he is. Spasovksy and Bolotov are both playing off Rodzaevsky’s addled mind for their own gains, with Bolotov having an especially strong grasp over him (even potentially having him convince Rodz. to purge Okhotin). Spasovksy and Bolotov are both self-serving in their motives, caring little for the plight of the average Russian. Okhotin seems to be the only potentially competent member of the government (as well as being potentially remorseful of the regime’s actions) but he does nothing to curb Rodzaevksy’s genocidal tendencies. All-in-all, Amur’s government is deplorable, seeking only to amass power for themselves and the idealized “Russian Aryans”.

So first of all, I’m just a hobbyist with a passion for compact 35mm and digital gear.

My girlfriend is a professional fashion photographer and she only uses full format DSLRs and 120mm film cameras for work, but she usually refuses to take any cameras anywhere that's not work and only carries a phone daily.

We were packing up for a trip (it’s been ages since we could have one but life is finally returning back to normal) and we were deciding which gear to take.

Me of course being a lazy hobbyist, wasn’t too keen on taking any of her full frame or medium frame gear.

I was testing my trusty compact apsc crops when I realized something - at night time without a flash, my old and trusty GR II honestly gets destroyed by my iPhone 12.

Obviously when you turn the flash on it’s a whole different story, but with the flash off? I can get ultra sharp and vivid handheld shots with the iPhone whereas with the Ricoh I would have to turn the shutter speed reeeeeally slow and mount the camera, which kinda defeats its own purpose.

So this kinda got me thinking - what will happen to the compact hobbyist market as computational photography continues to improve? Are companies willing to include these algorithms into cameras or is it seen as something relegated to cell phones?

Honestly this makes it kinda hard to justify taking a pocketable crop sensor, I feel like just taking my phone and then actually lugging around a large sensor camera if I need it..

Edit: this seems to have blown up and that some posters are missing the point, so I’ll rather edit the OP addressing the most common points rather than replying to everyone.

Of course an apsc crop set on a tripod, at a low iso and long exposure is gonna take better and sharper photos than a phone’s composite - but that’s the point. I don’t take along something like a Ricoh gr in order to set it on a tripod, it’s supposed to be portable as a compact fixed lens P&S. If I'm going to go through the hassle of bringing a tripod and mounting a camera, then I'd rather just bring a large sensor camera with a fast lens.

I think comments like this are missing the point too. No one is comparing phones to large full frame cameras with large fast primes - I know if I mount a f1.2 prime
