Optus YesTime - Free 20min calls between Optus telephone services, 8PM-Midnight. Back then, this seemed like a great deal, especially when Mobiles were included. You had to nominate up to 5 numbers to be included in the deal. youtube.com/watch?v=4Npj9…

(UK) I appear to have been scammed of my...mobile telephone number? Asking for some advice

Hi all,

I received some questionable texts from my mobile contract provider saying that I requested for my number to be switched to a different provider. I received a text with a PAC code in it from EE, then shortly afterwards received a call from a witheld number, claiming to be an EE representative asking me if it was myself who requested this. I said it wasn't, and they then said they would sort it from their end and not to worry.

I received a further call from a mobile number I didn't receognise, again claiming to be an EE representative asking me if they could do anything to convince me to stay with the network. I explained it wasn't me who requested the change and I was told it was being sorted.

This happened on tuesday. The following day, my phone stopped receiving any service and I cannot use it for calls or texts and can only access apps via my home wifi. I called EE today who have informed me that the number is now registered with Vodafone and I have to pay a hefty early cancellation fee.

I, for the life of me, cannot recall whether I passed the PAC code over to either of the numbers that rang me, but I assume I must have done for them to be able to continue on with switching the provider over to Vodafone. I am pretty sure I've been scammed and have fallen for it in a pretty stupid way.

My question I guess is whether there is anything I can do, if anyone has any advice. And if I have been scammed, what exactly am I at risk of now that someone else has my personal phone number registered to another network? Is there anything I should change to avoid losing money or personal information in some way?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

What is the cheapest way to call telephone numbers using mobile?

Hi! I am the External VP of a university organization. A lot of our prospect sponsors provide telephone numbers.

We no longer use telephones in our residence. Is there any cheap promos or ways for me to call telephone numbers with my mobile phone? They usually cost 7 pesos per minute, and the org will not reimburse me for such.

Hoping for your suggestions. Thank you!

PS I also ask them for their emails but some really prefer telephone calls for whatever reason.

Wouldn't have been better to create a telephone numbering plan per region?

North America has their own numbering plan, and Europe considered the option to create a trans-european numbering space. IMHO it would have been better to assign a "country code" or regional code, then a 3 digit area code, plus the last 7 digits for the whole world.

Example:

North America: +1.XXX.XXX.XXXX

South America: +2.XXX.XXX.XXXX

Europe: +3.XXX.XXX.XXXX

Central Asia: +4.XXX.XXX.XXXX

Russia: +5.XXX.XXX.XXXX

East Asia: +6.XXX.XXX.XXXX

Oceania: +7.XXX.XXX.XXXX

We all would have had an 11-digit phone number instead of the madness we have now.

In other countries you have area codes for mobile phone providers, and area codes that are either 2 or 3 digits. I just prefer the North American system where all numbers have the same amount of characters.

What do you think? I know that it's no longer possible and the internet will soon destroy the telephone service once for all.

How can I buy a "Custom Mobile Telephone Number" in the Ukraine?

Hello. Might sound like a niche question but, in my country it is possible to purchase "custom telephone numbers".

Per example, there is a specialized telephone/sim internet forum where people sell the so called "Premium numbers" or even one of these new SIM card providers that would allow you to choose your favorite combination of numbers and provide you a list with the available telephone numbers they have related to your desire.

Per example, if you want a number with "5555" you could get a telephone No. with those keynumbers on the SIM.

(Sorry if i explain myself like a retard) Hopefully someone less dumb than me can provide me with info or with a fuck off.

Thank you
