A list of puns related to "Mike Marshall (pitcher)"
I thought is was Sparky Lyle but I was wrong.
Mike Marshall had two RBI singles and came within an out of a complete game today, but after giving up a two-out walk and single, Pilotsβ manager Schultz lifted him in favor of Jack Aker, who retired Juan Rios on a groundout to third. βI didnβt feel like I ran out of gas,β said Marshall in the AP article on the game β βBut the manager is responsible for winning ballgames, and we won. So how I can argue? Winning is more important than complete games.β Marshall, a former shortstop, was pleased with his hitting as well. βI think I should get wood on the ball. But itβs a little rough for me to get my timing down, no more batting practice than you get as a pitcher.β
Meanwhile, Jim Bouton is several thousand miles away from Kansas City β in fact, the Mounties have now arrived in Honolulu to play a series against the Hawaii Islanders.
Hawaii is not exactly like the rest of the minors. The first thing they did at the ballpark was line us up on the foul line, where two Hawaiian girls presented each of us with a lei and a kiss on the cheek. When the girl got to me I bent her back over my knee and kissed her like they do in the movies. Nailed her a hell of a kiss, if I say so myself. For another, thereβs a topless nightclub in the Polynesian Hotel, where weβre staying, and the girls who work there live in the hotel. Thereβs nothing minor league about that at all, at all. I mean, Kearney, Nebraska, was never like this.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I know he's been pretty much considered a hack, and I do feel his motions can lead to tipping pitches easily, but with the extreme prevalence of Tommy John surgery this year, I wonder if it's worth reconsidering what he has to say.
I'm looking to invest in a platform for lessons. I've played guitar for 20 years and have worked in church music full time. I'm looking to get serious about the Mandolin and would like something with a structured approach to learning the instrument. Does anyone have any thoughts on these two platforms' strengths and weaknesses?
So random thought of the day time - how in the world does Mike Marshall still have a job doing TV traffic? Mike seems like a nice enough guy, his Cod Father deal around Lent is entertaining enough I guess, but seriously how is Traffic reporting on TV still a thing?
I dont wish for anything to happen to Mike, Karma is a thing, but how does him telling us that there is a slow down on 64 as part of the 5pm news help anyone in 2021? We all have smart phones that give us real time traffic updates, you know while we are in the car and can actually act on the information. Like do people get home turn on TV and say "yup Mike is right that traffic sucked I was there!"
Traffic updates seem like the kind of information that is pretty useless unless you get the data in real time. Radio traffic updates make sense, I can listen in the car, but unless Im in a limo from 1999 with a TV antenna on the trunk and a giant CRT monitor in the back I really dont see how WDRB and TV traffic updates adds much value here.
Perhaps Mike has other responsibilities at WDRB, but man I want to know how he has managed to convince his bosses that him standing in front of a virtual map showing google traffic stats is still relevant.
Mike Marshall, Bruce Sutter, Steve Bedrosian, Mark Davis, Sparky Lyle, Rollie Fingers, Willie Hernandez and Dennis Eckersley all won Cy Young Awards between 1974 and 1992. In addition, Fingers, Hernandez and Eckersley won MVP Awards. Since then only Eric Gagne in 2003 won the Cy Young as a reliever, not even Mariano could.
Marshall pitched 208 innings in 1974... All in relief with 106 appearances. It is the record for most relief innings in a season. Maybe I shouldn't give Kevin Cash any ideas...
This is a list of the pitchers who have both pitched in the same game for the same team at least 125 times. Data compiled for use in MLB quizzes on my site, hugequiz. Data thru the 2021 season.
