A list of puns related to "Michel Gondry"
Here's the part of the interview where he talks about what I'm asking:

I can't think of one of his films which uses that style. Anyone got any idea?
It seems pretty wild to change the style of a film just to deal with difficult actors.
Thanks in advance!
I was recently rewatching Eternal Sunshine, and came to the realization that Gondry would be a perfect Blank Check director (I looked through the archives on this sub and can't seem to find anyone else pitching Gondry). He has a very approachable 8 film run, and a truly unique directorial vision that makes heavy use of whimsical practical effects.
With Gondry, you get a certifiable masterpiece in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which certainly constitutes a guarantor. He follows that up with his blank check period: The Science of Sleep, which is very surreal and unique, and Be Kind Rewind, a movie about the love of movies/VHS culture (the 'sweded' movie remake sections are very meta and would be a fun little aside for the pod). And then after that, he gets a ~$110million+ budget superhero film, The Green Hornet, a very odd departure from his previous run of films. Plus, a potential bonus Patreon episode could focus on his phenomenal work in early-mid aughts music videos, such as The Hardest Button To Button, Let Forever Be, Star Guitar, and others. It's quite the grab bag!
Have any eagle-eared listeners heard the Two Friends talk of Gondry at all? Any indications if he's even on the radar, or on previous March Madness brackets? I think he'd be a slam dunk of a little series!
The Wife and I have been rewatching through the MCU since Wandavision because it's been so long--anyway, we're on Dr Strange now and I was like "is this Michel Gondry" (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Green Hornet, Be Kind Rewind)
I guess it was just the similarities in visuals, but I could have sworn he was tied to this in some way.
Anyway, just picture it... a dark, disturbung but also comedic visual LSD vomit-trip of a Dr Strange movie....
I personally think Yorgos Lanthimos would do a great job capturing Kaufman's unique & bizarre style.
Have you ever had a painful experience that you wanted to be erased from your memory? Thatล the question Charlie Kaufman answers in his 2004 Academy Award-winning script, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The film makes the audience think about the consequences of erasing an entire previous relationship from your memory, and the repercussions it can have on that person.
Jim Carrey stars as Joel Barish, a timid and introverted man who erases his memory of his painful breakup with his former girlfriend, Clementine. Throughout the nonlinear narrative, the audience is shown the process of removing his memories of Clementine, the aftermath, and the tense relationship that led to the eradication of the said memories. Kate Winslet plays Clementine in her best role to date. Joel is the filmล main protagonist, but we get to know a lot about Clementine through Joelยดs memory. Clementine is impulsive, loud-mouthed, but exciting and full of life. Both actors are incredible in their roles, but the actor that stands out is Jim Carrey. Before this film, he starred in films like Man on the Moon or The Truman Show, but he was still slightly comedic in those roles. In Eternal Sunshine, Carrey plays completely against type and the more loud-mouth and exaggerated character is Clementine (Winslet). Itล is an interesting dynamic and the film lets you into the lives of these characters through their performances. The rest of the cast is just as great, but they never outshine the leads. Elijah Wood being surprisingly a real douchebag of a character despite his lovable personality in the previous Lord of the Rings films. The roles were all perfectly picked, but for me, the real star of this film is the clever script by Charlie Kaufman.
Kaufman explores the lives of our leads in this beautifully constructed nonlinear narrative which chronicles many different storylines within the film. The script is subtle with some details being explained during the erasing sequences or found out during the end of the film. Kaufman also creates scenarios where the direction can create surrealistic imagery to convey the process of Joelล memory eradication. The scenes are aesthetically beautiful to look out, but they wouldn't be half as memorable without the script to ground them.
The most profound aspect of this film has to be its messages on relationships, and the consequences of forcibly removing memories. Many of the characters relive the experiences they previously had to erase, which
... keep reading on reddit โกAnyone else notice Tamler run down the list of Charlie Kaufman films and not mention director Michel Gondry (come on, Dave!) other than a half comment about Eternal Sunshine?
I am concerned that their thorough discussion of Kaufman films has nothing to say about Human Nature, which I think would be a great Yoel Inbar episode if they want to break down a film again.
Does anyone else feel this way or am I as absurd as my username implies?
