Flying out of manchester airport.

I'm flying out tomorrow morning at 6.20am from Manchester airport. All those photos of people being stuck in security for 3h and missing their flights is worrying me. Is getting there at 3.30 am early enough? I'm flying to London to get an international connecting flight. Any advice/ suggestions? I'm completely stressed out.

Update: I arrived at 3.45. The queue to check in was insane. And I'm so glad I booked fast track security as the queue was like friday night and since it took 1.30 just to check in.

Thanks for all the advice and happy holiday!

Does anyone know what could cause this sort of flight path? The airport it took off from, Manchester, was part of a diversion from its previous route, however that doesn't explain the holding pattern.

Anyone at Manchester airport? How busy is it today?

Hey,

Bit of a long shot, but I know over the weekend the airport was really busy, with it being a perfect storm of last weekend before christmas + last day before European restrictions + covid understaffing (+ normal Manchester airport cost cutting).

Is anyone there now? How is it? I am flying to visit family for Christmas (within the UK).

Cheers!

Sharing my experience of my tests in the Manchester Airport area

I arrived in Manchester on 21/12 at 16:50, very quickly got through the UK border police (they only checked my passport, no plf, vax card or test, but i flew with Ryanair from Italy and got them checked before boarding the plane so that might be one of the reasons) and got out of the airport. I decided to take my day 2 pcr test straight away with BioGrad Diagnostics. Theyโ€™re located in the Clayton Hotel just outside the airport (I booked a self administered PCR test and you have someone guiding you, only paid ยฃ19.99 and results guaranteed in 24 hours) so got there in 5 minutes and took my test at around 17:30 (my appointment was at around 18, they didnโ€™t really care), and the whole process took me about 10 minutes. I got my results back at 9 am the next morning (22/12), so it was quick and quite cheap, Iโ€™d definitely recommend them.

To go back home on 23/12 I booked an appointment on the 15:45/16:00 time slot for a pre departure antigen test with Collinson (around ยฃ30/35) at the Manchester Airport walk in clinic which is located in the Manchester Airport train station. Got there at around 15:15 and got my test taken at 15:30 (so 15 minutes earlier than my time slot). Iโ€™d recommend to get there at least 15/20 minutes earlier than your appointment as there could be some queuing to do. They guarantee the results back in 45-60 minutes, and i got mine back 30 minutes after my test. So Iโ€™d say a great experience with both companies when using in clinic testing.

I wrote this post to try help people travelling to/from Manchester, since I got really stressed out from trying to understand what to do when planning my short trip. I hope this is useful to you guys. I apologise for any grammar mistakes I made.

Manchester Airport - PSG v City

Hi,

I am going to the Man City v PSG game on Wednesday 24. Kick off is 8pm, but my flight is scheduled to land in Manchester airport at 6:15pm from the Republic of Ireland (first row on the plane booked).

I have a relative ready to collect us from the airport, how long will it take us to get to the stadium? Will we get there in time?

Google map says 25 minutes standard, but 25-45 during rush hour. Will it be longer on game night?

Thanks

Advice for a Scottish traveller at Manchester Airport

Hi all. I'm taking the train from Scotland to Manchester for a flight to Finland and back over Xmas. I'm looking at day 2 tests and I'm considering the Manchester airport option before I get back on the train to go home. Is the test centre at the airport anywhere close to the train station? I think they're may be 2, Randox and Collinson. Any one recommend one over the other? Thanks for any help.

Manchester airport advice

Okay so a little background on my dilemma, I have a flight to Manchester from Iceland (lands @ 13:25) and then a separate flight from Manchester to Paris. My flight to Paris has just been cancelled and they put me on an earlier flight at 14:25. That would give me exactly an hour to pick up my luggage, recheck it, and then go through security. Does anyone think that is feasible? I say this because I really need to get to Paris that day and there arenโ€™t anymore flights with that same company until the next day. I saw on the Manchester website you can buy a fast track for the security and they say it should take between 3-5 minutes for the whole security process I just donโ€™t know if I can trust that you know? Iโ€™ve never been to this airport so Iโ€™m not sure and I thought Iโ€™d ask for any opinions or advice. Thanks in advance!

Easy direct links with East Midlands Airport or Manchester Airport?

Hi everyone! I'm an expat living in Brum. Unfortunately, Brum Airport is poorly connected with the city where I lived and my girlfriend currently resides with only two direct flights a week (with very odd timetables too). I was also looking at flights from/to East Midlands and Manchester Airports, but I noticed that the transfer becomes quite messy, longly and costly (if taking the train). The only direct links I was able to find are provided by Megabus. Is it the only way to go from Brum to these Airports, or there are other direct links (like from other private companies) that I'm missing? Thank you very much for the answers!

Taxi from Liverpool airport to Manchester

Alright lads,

Long story short me and 3 friends will need to get from Liverpool airport to Manchester in December. The train isnโ€™t an option as weโ€™ll be in a rush to get to a match. Any idea if the taxis outside the airport would do this and if so how much ?

Cheers
