I was reading through the section about the Napoleonic Wars in N.A.M. Rodger's The Command of the Ocean, and on page 553 he claims:
>Britain's only ally was the unstable Gustavus IV of Sweden, whose world-view was based on a deranged interpretation of the Book of Revelation.
This claim is not sourced, as far as I can tell, and I can't find much about it online. What was this "deranged interpretation," and how did he come to hold it?
I signed up from a Facebook post to get involved in the hunt and just got the email with the coordinates. There are two portraits in Stockholm, one in Gothenburg and one in LinkΓΆping (the Ghost hometown).
I live close by in Uppsala but too far away to get there before someone local does. I am so stoked for these people and hope to see pictures float around on social media! Did anyone here participate?
An interesting tidbit from a Caruana interview from Chess.com.
He says this at 40:35 and onwards.

"One of the things I realized was that Magnus at some point thought about me in a way where he figured out my strengths and weaknesses. And I never really felt that before with another player, that they were actually sitting down and trying to figure out what I'm good or bad at and try to aim for those positions, but I realized that Magnus just did that diligently and understood me probably pretty well as a player. And I don't think that I quite did the same for him, or at least not as well. I probably wasn't as diligent in my approach towards the player rather than just, let's say, not towards my chess but towards his chess, because, in a tournament that doesn't matter. I'm playing 9 other people, or in the candidates 7 other people, and I can't psychoanalyze every single player, I just need to make sure that my chess is as good as can be, but when it's one on one then that really has a lot of importance. So he did that better than me, that's for sure, I think that's probably also one of his strengths, the psychological part."
I'm Norwegian so I figured I would translate the whole thing so the context is clear without relying on any tabloids.
This begins at around 14:10 in the recent Unibet interview.
Barstad: We got a question from Twitter, which is the question we get the most: "Will he retire after the WC?"
Carlsen: No, it's important for me not to retire from chess. It still gives me a ton of joy and one of the first things I thought about after the WC was that I was really looking forward to playing in the rapid and blitz WC. And I was even thinking in the middle of the match that "Now it's not such a long time before I'll play there". As I've talked about for a long time, the WC has not always been as fun/satisfying (as it was in the start). I had it pretty clear in my mind for most of this year that this WC match would be my last. As i said earlier it doesn't mean as much as it once did, it's not the same to win as..[cut off by Barstad]
Barstad: And at the same time it comes with an enormous amount of pressure and a lot more negatives that can happen than the positive.
Carlsen: Yes it's exactly that and right now I just haven't felt that the positive has outweighed the negative and right now I feel I'd like to stop while I'm on top. The only thing that has changed somewhat since I started thinking like that was what happened in the Grand Swiss a couple of months back when Alireza qualified for the candidates tournament. When that happened it kind of became real for me that maybe I could face him in a match and that would be something I would be able to motivate myself properly for. So I would say that helped me a bit for this match, but I think that could also help me a lot for the next match. So I would say right now that if there's someone else that wins the candidates there's a very low chance I will play next time, then I think I would just say "I'm satisfied and I'll end it here.". There are a lot of other things I could try to do, I am for example very motivated to get my rating to 2900.
Barstad: Yeah, because I've wanted to ask you about that. We talked a bit about that (2900) yesterday.
Carlsen: Yeah, I have never really set that as a goal before. Both because I've felt that it's been so difficult, but now I've gotten my rating up a little bit and it's a goal I could set myself. It doesn't feel entirely impossible right now, then I'd have to be on top of my game at all times, there would be no margin for err
