To briefly explain what will be an extremely lengthy post, alchemy appears to be a major theme in Elden Ring. Many other games and fantasy works borrow from the rich concepts and symbolism of alchemy and the magnum opus (the Great Work), but the influences in Elden Ring are so pervasive that the inhabitants of the world literally have alchemy references coming out of their asses (i.e., the Gold-Tinged Excrement item). There is a lot to examine, so Iβll cover the major points up front.
If you are of the opinion that looking too hard for clues ahead of time can spoil your enjoyment later, viewing any of the posted content is not recommended. If you are interested in deep analysis that doesnβt know when to stop, read on. This post will bring in outside resources to compare with publicly available information. No leaks will be discussed or shown, with the exception of the widely circulated early concept art of the full map (which is too interesting to pass up).
Update: I have taken a closer look at Elden Rin

This game treats alchemy like science and alchemists like a mix between magicians and scientists, and I'm looking for books that portray alchemy like an everyday topic. Thanks in advance :)

I'm just wondering... Are there any other artifacts that probably should do something else?
Sorry if my thoughts are not coherent, having a hard time write them down properly, but I just wanted to throw all my ideas and thoughts into a wall here and see what happens.
New event introduced new sword and it's refinement items. Instantly got curious to read the flavor text and as always it delivers more lore. Since the swords name is Cinnabar-
-and it's not mentioned officially but I feel like the Alkahest might be mercury (quicksilver)-
I recalled that these 2 were important to real-life alchemy as well. Turns out, after reading some stuff on wikipedia, in ancient chinese alchemy cinnabar is considered to be almost as important as gold, possibly having even better "spiritual" quality than gold itself.
Mercury has it's own story as well - alchemists used to believe that it is the First Matter (Prima Materia) from where all metals come from, stage 1, you could say.
Both of these, more so cinnabar (or gold as well), were believed by chinese alchemists to be able to prolong life or even give immortality, possibly this being the "Magnum Opus" of eastern alchemy (?)
Since cinnabar is of high "spiritual" value, ingesting it could've possibly helped with the individuation, the philosophical "magnum opus" that western alchemists valued. Of course, both parties were searching for immortality tho, eastern with this stuff, western with Philosopher's stone.
So, Gold <=> Cinnabar; Immortality <=> Magnum Opus
Another cool point is that chinese alchemists would get mercury by roasting cinnabar or vice versa - by combining mercury with sulfur and getting it to come back to cinnabar.
Cinnabar is also a reddish color, possibly tying itself up with the Rubedo, the last stage of Magnum Opus.
It feels like we're completing what Albedo is searching for by just refining this sword. At least in part.
From Nigredo to Rubedo.
From Prima Materia to Philosopher's stone.
From Mercury to Cinnabar.
Since both the sword and the materials have similar motifs to Albedo's design, another fun though was that what if Albedo is the Alkahest for now, and like a pokemon he's going to evolve to the Spindle after some time, after he reaches the Magnum Opus last stage. Or he could pos

In this post I share my journey from $1.75M to $8M in 2021 and announce my official retirement from trading. Read on for receipts and an epic tale of blue balls to hard-on erection and a climactic finale.

Total cumulative gains/loss from each stock. Hello my 1 GME share!
Letβs set the stage. Remember December 2020 yaβll?
I sold 88,233 shares GME at $15.50 for some random dog toy in a box company. There were no apes yet, just Ryan Cohen buying more shares with hopes of a company turnaround. There were record COVID cases, vaccines were just approved, and there was even a British virus mutation on the way that turned out to be Delta!
History was made in January 2021. Ryan Cohen joins the board on Jan 11. GME shoots +12% to $20 and then another +57% to $31. The media picks up the story and Elon Musk tweets βGamestonkβ and to the moon we go! Another +51% to $65. Then +92% to $150. And a deep fuck

SO basically, this is just to generate discussion and make a quick list of recs for your favourite group (any group; you can do multiple, too)! :)
rules: basically choose a group, and from that group choose which title track song you think is the group of your choice's...
I'll do an example for IZ*ONE (if you have a different opinion from me, please, feel free to share your list too :))
edit: I was planning on responding to everyone's lists lol but I have no more time oof; I have read every list though and have put the recs on playlists (and logged the knowledge into my brain so I seem smart when conversations about these groups come up)
His open today β RR took on the opt out debate and did the classic I see both sides thing before throwing Van Lathan (?) under the bus by presenting the insane hypothetical of Joe Burrow opting out before the CFP final, which has never happened, and isnβt part of the debate, which centers around meaningless bowl games.
CFP Final β meaningful.
Rose Bowl β meaningless.
This is his Strawman Magnum Opus. He went so far down the fake situation hypothetical he wound up retroactively pretend calling out βhis guyβ for an NFL QB not wanting to play in his CFP final, which he played in two years ago and won handily.
I was wondering why the strange key location was so finicky to make work, and upon revisiting it I noticed that it's actually you assembling the Bungie logo from the various geometry in the area.

Haven't seen anyone else point this out, hopefully not a repost :)
Edit: I should clarify that it's not the main Bungie logo, it's the seventh column Bungie icon
Like most Swifties, I considered All Too Well to be her greatest work of all time. My Tears Ricochet came close to overtaking it for me, but it wasn't until I fully absorbed Champagne Problems that I can say it is her magnum opus. Share yours and why!
Hey guys, we recently had a discussion on the album AC/DC Live. Was wondering what studio album is your favorite? Would like to do a deep dive and do another episode on discussing the pinacle AC/DC album.

Well I donβt think Architects truly fits this description, I do feel like they have so many great songs but none truly stands out as their masterpiece.
Grab the quest from Xur, it will ask you to get 7 strange coins, you can do this by completing the new 6 player activity.
Once that is done you need to complete 3 bounties from the horse. After that grab the key from xur once you reputation level 4
Once you acquire the key, head through the portal to the eternal valley or whatever it's called. Off to the right there will be a weird looking stone at the bottom of the hill. There will be a stone next to it that has a small rectangle sticking out. That is where you insert the key. YOU NEED TO BE LOOKING TOWARD THE STRUCTURE TO THE LEFT OF THE AREA IN ORDER TO GET THE PROMPT.
IMPORTANT: If you arenβt getting the prompt, make sure you are on the right quest step. You can get the key but still need to complete 3 bounties from the horse.
Once you've done that, head to the structure you were just looking at, next to it on the cliff edge there is a little tiny cave that you can enter, do the jumping puzzle and at the end there will be a cryo pod you can open. It will drop an item you need to take to banshee.
Once you've taken the item to banshee, you get the Exotic Sidearm Foreunner. Enjoy Guardians!

Made various edits to improve the guide and fix grammatical errors. Enjoy folks :)
I would love to know your choices for both album and individual songs.
For me, the entire Shine On You Crazy Diamond suite is truly their best song(s), just beating out Echoes.
For albums, however, I have a tougher time. I feel like it comes down to Dark Side and The Wall, with The Wall taking the edge.
I'm currently researching Alchemy for a creative project I'm working on and I'd like a bit of help. At the moment, I have two major questions that are slowing me down:
When I first saw that he had expanded the four steps into twelve, I figured that each of the originals corresponded to three of Ripley's. However, the fact that he has "Separation" listed as step three and albedo involves the separation of the anima and animus (according to Jung, at least), made it seem like that wasn't the case. Was my original assumption right, did Ripley draw the lines somewhere else, or did he simply not base his twelve steps on the four colors?
6 days until story time! ππ
Ask your best questions for me in this thread and Iβll compile the most upvoted or interesting and post answers in the main story post releasing on Christmas Day. Be a part of history!
My only request is no personal questions as Iβd still like to remain as anonymous as possible, thank you.
Let's look back at some memorable moments and interesting insights from last year.
