A list of puns related to "Magnet school"
TL;DR: SHIELD funds a free school for various kid geniuses and prodigies, which lets them create their own future agents, spies, scientists, etc.
Peter goes to Midtown school of Science and Technology. Right off the bat, that's a bit weird. It's shown to be a school exactly suited for his particular skills and interests, with access to a ton of great stuff. He creates military grade spiderwebs in their chem lab for crying out loud. That's not the kind of school that's cheap, and we know Peter and Aunt May don't have much money. Yet somehow, he can go there, even before he meets Tony (who could have paid for it).
Let's look more at the school. We know they have an Academic Decathlon team capable of winning the entire national competition, a robotics team good enough to interest a genius like Peter and a student news division with near professional level gear. In addition, their classes seem to focus on some pretty advanced stuff, as well as in depth looks at important current events, like the Sokovia accords. All of that, for a school that's apparently free, or at least very cheap.
Now, let's look at their students. You have Peter, who was already a near genius before he got his powers, Betty Brant, who is already close to her goal of being a professional newscaster, Liz Toomes, who is the head of the National Champion Academic Decathalon team (and likely inherited some tech skills from her dad), MJ, who is shown to be intelligent, resourceful, and deeply involved in politics, Ned Lee, who showed a large amount of skill with computers and hacking. It seems fair to say that the students at the school seem to be cherry picked for being exceptionally intelligent, with interests in various vital careers. Hell, Peter gets an internship with Stark Industries as a Sophomore in High School, and it's seen as a minor thing. They're shaping the minds of the next generation, which is the goal of every school (hypothetically). But look at what they're emphasizing: Cutting edge science, super powered individuals, media control, and politics. Those are the fields you'd need for control, the same fields SHIELD specializes in. Not to mention that a lot of the kids have links. Flash's family is clearly wealthy, and Liz's father has connections to the crime world as well as his tech genius the Tinkerer, who SHIELD would likely want to ally with.
We only see Peter's principal for a few brief scenes, but in one of those, we see his office, where there's a picture of Cap
... keep reading on reddit β‘I live in Broward County, and I really want to attend a particular Magnet school. I'm also in 10th grade. Prior to joining FLVS in 2019 as a 9th grader, I had gone to my local high school for a few days, but I then transferred to FLVS Flex. Now, when I open a school choice application, my file still has me as being a 9th grader going to that local high school, and I'm afraid that this will prevent me from submitting this vital application. I know this is a lot, but I've got no idea how to fix this or if they'll automatically fix this if I just submit the school choice application. Thanks to anyone who responds!
Any parents have experience with their child going to Isley (past year not withstanding)? We're considering switching schools.
Any feedback on quality/class sizes/etc would be greatly appreciated.
My child has been accepted to a STEAM magnet school/program as well as KIPP elementary. How can I tell the difference between each curriculum when I ask them for information? Also, how can I find out which is more challenging and rigorous?
In case anyone else has a child on the waiting list and would like to know, I called them to ask how long the waiting lists are. The lady said that they essentially rerun the lottery every few days as people drop out/decline acceptances, do there is no order or line for wait listed students. They do this all the way through the first 10 days of school (she may have said 20 days). So you won't know your place until after the school year starts.
I am a future Cincinnati Public School parent (oldest is 4 yo, entering school 2022-2023 school year). What I have gathered from a few sources and anecdotally is that generally, magnet school lottery applicants are accepted into one of the schools (assuming you include 3 schools, the max. allowed) listed on your application. Is this consistent with your experiences?
Considering several neighborhood and magnet schools (not yet located in-district, have flexibility where to live) and would appreciate perspectives on the following:
Thank you in advance!
With the arts such a major thing here and the growing need for tech and science based jobs why isn't there since kinda of magnet school here? I feel like the system may benefit from one?
Hey there. We are moving to Cincy this summer. Whenver I hear magnet schools, I remember schools with great scores but when I look up these schools on Greatschools, some of them have terrible scores. Can you guys suggest if the elementary magnet schools are good? Also, should we aim for West or East to target the magnet schools? Finally, any idea if we can apply for them when we are still in Austin? Thanks!
