A TBM family member tried arguing with me about whether or not they made blatantly incorrect and rude remarks (such as putting pedophilia and homosexuality on the same level) in the past. Instead of admitting to it, however, they tried to say, "I don't remember it. So if I don't remember it, then to me, it didn't happen... and if it never occurred in my eyes, then technically, no, I didn't say that."

Serious question - I know of one or two people who haven't passed covid to their families. I get that happens and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it. Are there reliable data to suggest most don't pass infection to their family members? Is there an assumption that people live in multi-bathroomed etc accommodation where isolating from family members is easy? I am genuinely confused.

I tested positive 8 days after the person I share a household with, was allowed out during this time, and could have passed it on to any number of other people if I wasn't cautious. It just seems really flawed to me - I'd like to understand why, if we are trying to slow the spread, this is a thing.

A man like Jim Bob cares about his family name and reputation. So he’s throwing money at lawyers left and right to clear his son’s name, and by default, his own. But even if it’s thrown out on a technicality, everyone still knows he’s guilty. His son escapes jail sure, but let’s not pretend this isn’t about more than that. So how is this even a good strategy?

The only way this makes any sense to me is to assume Jim Bob must actually believe Josh’s tall tales and that he’s innocent. I’m convinced he could have saved the show if he had denounced his son’s actions and advised him to take a plea deal. It’s a better plan than lawyering your way into financial ruin to protect their man child son from experiencing consequences for his actions, for once.

So my family and I are working on a project and we're trying to get Logic Pro X installed on all of our computers. I was wondering if any of you know how does family sharing works regarding plug-ins? If the master account buys a plug-in, can it be installed on all of the family shared computers?

I just hit a healthy BMI this week for the first time in over a year... which has involved eating healthy, portion control, and reinforcing my ability to say "no". My point with this is that I do know what being fat is like, as well as what it takes to lose weight.

This leads me to the insidious and misinformed opinions I hear everywhere all the time.

For starters several of my family members are obese, they're all wonderful, friendly people not FAs at all. But they just "can't" figure out how to lose weight and they not only won't ask for advice or listen to it, but they just write off my weight-loss as "well you're one of the naturally skinny members of the family"(they aren't rude about this, they just honestly think that's how life is)... I'm down 55lb and JUST hit the very top of the healthy weight bracket. I can overdo it just as easily as they can.

We had a family BBQ for Father's Day and my cousin volunteered for the fruit salad (usually gets assigned to me) because she's once again trying to lose some weight and eat better. Okay, great! So she arrives and starts talking to me about how she had to run to the store to finish the fruit salad... not because she was missing fruit but because she ran out of honey. She used 2 containers of honey because "its healthier" on a fruit salad meant for only 10 people...

Since it was a BBQ as well she decided that she was skipping her diet for the day, fair enough I had been extra vigilante the week leading up as well since I wanted to have my fill too. But I still made sure not to gorge myself silly... meanwhile she ate 4 of the cupcakes I made and commented that she was glad I made strawberry cupcakes because the fruit in them also makes them healthy...

Those cupcakes were probably around 600-700cal each. Yes, I did use real strawberries but they still were filled with full fat whipped cream, plenty of sugar, and topped with a generous portion of buttercream frosting (I go all out if I'm baking for parties since I know I'm not going to have to eat everything by myself)... they were definitely not healthy. It would probably take me 3 weeks to correct the calorie surplus she ate and I'm 6" taller than her.

A week later I found out she gave up her diet because she'd gained weight instead of losing it... she mentioned that she didn't understand because she kept her "cheat days" to only Saturdays.

I just get so frustrated because it's like watching my borderline mentally handicapped dog... she's very nice

My dad’s work recently told him he has to relocate to another office. He was given 4 possible cities: Seattle, Austin, Miami, and Chicago.

My dad decided to let the whole family decide— we all have to agree unanimously where to go before choosing a place. We agreed not to go to Chicago because it’s too cold, but the other three were on the table.

Personally, my vote was for Seattle— it’s a city I’ve always liked. My parents opposed it because it’s too expensive— they say the houses there that are comparable to our current one (5000 square feet, 3 stories, 4 bedrooms) are 700k+.

I like Seattle, but I agree that logic was fair. Problem is, my dad wanted to go to Miami. And initially I was down for it— but I realized houses in the areas of Miami that my parents like are around the same price as Seattle.

So I vetoed Miami because it was hypocritical to criticize Seattle for price and then go for Miami when it was also similarly expensive.

My parents are pissed because they like Miami and I’m saying no.

I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong. My parents said we all had to agree, and I’m not going to let them say no to my top choice for price and then choose another city that’s the same price.

Not to mention staking and lending options that actually give passive returns and instead of “hodl” you let your money work and earn you passive returns.

Edit: Food for thought, using a hardware wallet doesn’t give you the keys. It’s also software and hardware managed by a third company. As someone said in the comments, it’s starting to look obvious to me this NKYNYC is becoming a marketing meme to sell hardware wallets. This is not 2013 where you trust a Fatboy in his moms basement to safekeeping your millions in space money but multi-billion dollar companies that probably use x7 advanced multi-sig cold storage wallets.

Benefits/arguments of controlling your own funds:

1. NYKNYC is a movement against all the exchange hacks, thefts, and scams which is also a considerable risk. You might lose your funds if the third party is hacked, business troubles, or 404- thanks for your Bitcoin we can't trace the CEO.
2. Managing your own wallet prevents government seizures, holding your funds hostage for additional KYC documents, paying taxes, and all that fun stuff. Also, losing sensitive information during a hack.
3. Phishing risks that could hack your account and steal your funds if you're dumb enough not to enable 2FA by the app or hack an unsecured email and using your same Facebook email for your exchange.
4. The "bitcoin lifestyle" - Bitcoin is "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" and the entire point of P2P is to remove third parties from the equation.
5. You can set up a multi-sig wallet and prevent the most common risks as losing your keys, fried USB, hookers found your safe when you were knocked out, and dying unexpectedly forgetting to tell your fictional wife and kids what the password was for your ledger.
6. You could use a will to save up the 24 words. Yeah, I trust the security of (third party exchange) rather than my lawyer that doubtfully uses 2FA for his 2006 laptop.
