I just saw someone post a link to a Bandcamp page for an Italian symphonic black metal album that was released in 2002. It sounded cool. I went back to explore more and the post was deleted because it was the full album. Can someone help? Thanks!
although I always research a lot, I never find a right answer to that question. I know that this may seem irrelevant, but it is just for curiosity purposes. if anyone knows the answer, I'll be very thankfull :)
What are some other SM bands with male vocals that I should check out if I like Kamelot , Rhapsody Of Fire , RED , and Sonata Arctica?
When I describe symphonic metal to people who haven't heard of it, I usually describe it as something like "Think of an epic opera, and add heavy metal."
But now that I think about it, I don't really know if any actual operas done in SM format. I'm taking about the real classic stuff like La Bohème, La Traviata, or if someone's feeling extremely ambitious, the Ring Cycle.
I'd really love to hear a metal take on classical opera.
As another post pointed out, this year's hasn't been great for PM and racism, so here's my recommendations of POC power/symphonic bands to check out/signal boost:
Exenemy, Bangladesh
Ad Infinitum, SwitzerlandALKINIAH, Madagascar
Silmarillion, Venezuela
Resurrection, Madagascar
Anubis, USA
Nisea, Madagascar
Iron Blade, China
Immortal Guardian, USA (?)
Angel's Temptation, Japan
Gamalyel, Venesuela
Nocturne Moonrise, Taiwan
Feel free to add more
Riverwood's second album Shadows and Flames dropped today (January 7, 2022). I'm glad I decided to check them out as part of my effort to listen to more new music, it slaps.
Progressive symphonic metal with a lot of middle eastern folk influences, lyrics in English (mostly, the first song is about Skyrim(?) and uses one of those fantasy languages). If you like Epica, After Forever, Imperia, or LEAH, but wished you could get something similar but less operatic and fronted by a guy (the singer's voice is beautiful!), I say check them out!
Here's a sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heA9G4ysd74
And if you so choose, support this independent band by getting a physical copy (pay attention to location, they have different modes of getting the album depending where you are): https://riverwood-band.net/shadows-and-flames#order-shadows-and-flames-physical-cd-rest-of-the-world
Would you guys add any others? I tried really hard to pick only the best of the best.

I was digging through some of my older music the other day and was curious about this. Mine was Fallen by Evanescence- Bring Me To Life got a ton of airplay when I was in college and I was immediately hooked. You can argue all day long whether they're truly SM or their commercial success. They're the band that caused me to start poking around the genre.
The first true SM album I bought was Century Child by Nightwish. I even remember thinking before I bought it "Do I really want to spend the $15 on this album?" Yeah, it was worth it lol. Been all downhill ever since.
What band or album made you discover SM? How did you find it?
I'm certain a number of you have discovered some interesting symphonic/orchestral metal bands that involve harsh vocals.
This is a list of the albums I know thus far that fit this criteria. Please help me expand it.

Septicflesh also deserves attention, but I have only mentioned female-fronted bands.
Do you remember scary stories to tell in the dark? I do, and it's art haunted my dreams for years as a kid. We are looking for something along those themes, mostly focused on the unknown, mental illness, Greek gods in themes. If you are interested in working with us I'd be happy to talk.
We get that a lot of people live off their work doing commissions, so we won't short change you.
Edit: Thank you all for reaching out. I did not expect so much response! Please give me a bit of time to get back to you, we also do a lot of singles releases and need art for merch in the future, so I will make sure to get back to everyone when I can. Also, if you see this in a month, still reply or hit me up, we are always on the search for cool art for current and future projects.
