A list of puns related to "List of generation VI Pokémon"
Whether it was the timing of when Gen VI came out (when I was in college) or because it followed Gen V and my favorite games Black 2/White 2, I always held indifference and often resentment towards Pokémon X & Y and the Kalos region. "Gen V had the best music, story, Pokémon, characters, etc and I got this instead?"
Flash forward to 2020 and I decide to replay Pokémon Y for the first time, because quarantine. My God, I want more Kalos.
Areas where I found newfound appreciation:
I mean, Generation VI was awesome when I first experienced it through Pokémon Y and then Omega Ruby, and I can now see Nintendo and Game Freak getting ready to build upon the success of Gen 6 with Sun and Moon.
I can't wait for Sun and Moon to sell so many copies like X and Y and ORAS both did! :)
Let's hope Gen VII lives up to the hype like Gen VI did.
Hello travelers!
This is a pdf infographic which consists of best Pokémon by type across Generations 1-4, including their stats, max cp, best movesets (or best possible movesets for Generation 4 Pokémon). There are also top two tiers for each type separated into two periods, explained in more details in this post. Lists by type include some weaker Pokémon as well, which are there for comparison, or because new players might find information about them helpful. At the end of pdf file, there is a list of all the candies worth saving for Generation 4, classified into tiers (based on my own understanding of what will be relevant when Gen 4 gets introduced).
I am sorry for not including an image format, but because of the amount of details, images looks terribly blurry on mobile phones, so I decided to go only with the pdf format.
Because I wanted to have a look into the future, but not into a very far future. Taking into consideration all the current generations and only the very next generation (which might be released at the end of 2018 or so) seemed like a sweet spot for preparing and knowing what lies right ahead of us. Also, Generation 4, unlike Generation 5, includes tons of evolutions for existing Pokémon in the first three generations, so this will give us a better idea of which candies we can obtain right now are worth saving the most.
In my view, Rhyhorn, Swinub, Tangela and Togepi candies will have the most value when Gen

So I know which ones to go after during the upcoming event
I’m just trying to find out which Pokémon are impossible to get at this time without looking up every single missing number in my Pokédex. Every search result keeps bringing up results from over a year ago.
Thanks in advance!
Title says it all. Lots to trade shoot me offers.

Seriously, the amount of Bidoofs, Geodudes, Ponytas, and Wurmples I've seen in the past 23 hours of gameplay is astounding. I often forget the game has more Pokémon outside trainer battles, because anything other than those 4 seem like rare encounters.
Was it always this bad? Gen 4 has some hidden bangers in it, but could they not have, like, added more Gen 1, 2, and 3 Pokémon to make up for the deficient?? I'm at badge 4 and I'm already losing my mind
Not sure how many people are going to be interested in this, but it’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while. This isn’t a call to action or anything, just the ramblings of a mad lad:
I saw a post earlier today saying “Is Legends Arceus Gen 8 or Gen 9?” And it got me thinking about the term “generation.” It’s been really helpful in organizing the core series Pokémon games, and to a decent extent, the side games too. It works beautifully for Generations I to VI and I think we should continue to use the term for these generations. I even think the term “Generation VII” has some merit.
However, I believe the generation moniker is used today to shove games together by a distinction that made sense 5 years ago but falls apart today. Let’s Go was the first game to break the traditional mold: having “mid-generation” Pokémon discovered in a different region than the first games in that generation, coming out on a new console with a different and incompatible roster of Pokémon to the other games in its generation, and using a different engine and play style.
The “Generation” descriptor was used to determine which games were compatible with each other. And in the Gen VI games, origin marks were introduced to tell certain Pokémon from games apart from those originating in others, so it would be known which games they were compatible with. Calling Let’s Go Gen VII doesn’t sit right with me because you’re completely unable to transfer a Pokémon from SM/USUM to Let’s Go in any capacity. Even more evidence of this is the fact that on the Google survey for Pokémon Day 2020, Meltan and Melmetal were grouped with the Pokémon from Galar, not with the Pokémon from Alola, so more evidence would point to them being Generation VIII games, but that just makes no sense at all to me.
Now here we are in “Generation VIII” and we have 3 different titles that are all being shoved under this same mold. While BDSP may fit closer under this mold, Legends: Arceus surely doesn’t, fitting these same criteria of Let’s Go: new Pokémon introduced “mid-generation” in a new region on a new console with a new engine.
And if I want to jump on the side games too, what is Pokémon GO? It came out in 2016 before the release of Sun and Moon, so by our definition that generations start with the release of a new region, so it would be Generation 6 right? But no, it’s so closely tied to Generation 7, with its marketing and its popularity around the time Sun and Moon were releasing so you’d def
... keep reading on reddit ➡Exactly as the title says: for the first time in what feels like 20 generations of Pokémon - I just love exploring the cities in BD/SP. On top of that, I stop to randomly talk to NPCs again.
I personally believe this Chibi-esque art style allowed the NPCs to really pop. I will be running out of a Pokécenter when a NPCs scarf is so obnoxious it catches my eye and I have no choice but to stop and hit A.
I don't want to go on forever about art style as that seems to be anything people can comment on around me irl. I just wanted to add my 2 cents!
Loving the game, enjoying myself in a game for the first time a while tbh
I was thinking about how Gen 1 to 2’s mechanic change (arguably the biggest in Pokémon) completely changed Chanseys role in making it more passive. Anyway who suffered most from mechanic changes?

With it being the end of 2021, and semi-hoping that Gen 9 is what is in store for us in 2022, which Pokémon have been surprisingly good or bad in Gen 8? For me my answer would be Zeraora actually being good in OU and Latios struggling in OU despite its buffed movepool.
Ok I think we can all agree that the best Pokémon games come from the Gen 1-5 range. But which do you think is the best? Personally while Gen-4 was my first game, I’ve grown to love and appreciate Gen-5 as not only a masterpiece in Pokémon games, but in games in general. It’s story is the best in Pokémon without a doubt and it’s character progression, writing, and central idea of conflicting ideas, all make this game something to remember. And the soundtrack…the soundtrack…I’ve listened to the soft piano keys of the games theme “Emotion” over and over, it’s all the best Pokémon has had with appropriate emotional keys and impactful moments. And while the graphics aren’t like any professional game there’s something so charming about the pixelated sprites and gorgeous use of 2d technology to create a 3d environment in 2d that just blows me away every-time I cross a bridge or look over a vast landscape. A perfect Gen and I’m so glad people have grown to realize this after its chaotic release.

Hey ya'll, for as long as I've been on this sub I've seen wars fought over this age old question. What is the best amount of new mon to add per new generation? I've seen arguments for having only 30, to having there be a new 151 each time. Each choice has its own set of reasons, but I want to see where the majority of community lies on this topic. Please note that I am not including mega/Gigantamax/any new gimmick forms because they just slightly add to a mons design without changing anything major, but I am counting regional variants as if done properly they can require just as much effort to create as a brand new Pokémon would, and don't require battling to exist. For reference, each gens amount will be listed below.
Gen 1 - 151
Gen 2 - 100
Gen 3 - 135
Gen 4 - 107
Gen 5 - 156
Gen 6 - 72
Gen 7 - 88
Gen 8 - 92
I personally believe that 90-120 is the best amount, and more specifically 100 exactly. I feel there being 100 allows the most variety in new mon, and at least guarantees 3 choices for new lines of each type. Having a variety of mon is so important in Pokémon, because if you don't like a certain mon there's always another option. Now the main criticize for this is that you could just use an older mon in place of a new one, and while that's completely valid there are some people such as myself who like to primarily use newer mon to discover new favorites. But it's always a bummer to get into a new game, see the options for a type (Like my favorite bug) and there's only one.
But let me know what you guys think. It's always nice to see other people's opinions and why they think the way they do. Just try to keep it civil, we're here to simply debate, not start another war.

First off, I'm hyped that Pokémon is in the top 50. It kinda feels as though the franchise has lost all relevance over the past few years, even with Pokémon Go bringing things back a bit
Obv it's all subjective, and I get the appeal of Yellow as a complete Gen 1 experience. But if they want to rate these kinds of games on their importance to certain franchises, rather than actually how good they were (as a lot of these lists tend to do), then, for me, Gold and Silver should have been there instead
Following up from the illustrious first generation, which took the entire world by storm and changed consumer merchandising forever, Gold and Silver could have been a potentially fatal banana skin for the franchise - but it wasn't. This was the 'difficult second album' that was even better than the first
If it had flopped, Pokémon as a phenomenon could (and maybe would) have died then and there. But Gold and Silver introduced so many now-essential concepts to the franchise that it was almost like a new franchise. Breeding and genders, time and time-based events, hold items, two new types, SHINY POKEMON
Gen 1, for all its game-changing-ness, was badly coded and, by comparison, quite bare in terms of features, though it was by no means boring
I know a lot of people will also say 'well Gen 3 was the best tbh', or 'actually Black and White 2, or even HGSS were the peak of the franchise' (and I'd agree with the latter), but for sheer importance and the experience itself, I think Gen 2 was way better than the first Gen. I mean, you get to battle the protagonist from the previous game at the end, how is that not a great moment in gaming history?
I dunno, maybe I'm just bumhurt that only Yellow features in this list, I'd have loved both to fly the flag for Pokémon here. Other Gens have their perks too and I'd love to hear your impassioned speeches for/against any of the Pokémon games here :)
Thanks for reading!
EDIT: I’m very surprised with how many people are saying gen 5. Gen 5 is the best.
All I want to know is if there is a Feebas / Milotic that I can get. If it's toward the end of the game I will be salty. 😑
