As a non-native english speaker, I've understood something completely different and stuck to it for the past five years.
Some kind of judgement and no high is all I ever find.
I believe this song kinda hits home for everyone thats missing someone or longing a past relationship and it definitly does for me. A sort of what could have/would have feeling that leaves you wondering and daydreaming.
We've all tried to look up exes online, facebook or whatnot. I really believe that, when doing that, John felt "some kind of judgment" by judging himself in a "why tf are you doing that" kind of way. He always ended up on the same old pictures and found "no high", only sadness in doing so. As I clearly do...
I was quite surprised that it was nowhere near the actual line... I really like my interpretation though because it means a lot to me (definitly more than a county judge in Ohio) and I think I will stick to it.
