This is just a thing I’ve thought about recently… I was thinking about the word “synonymous” and how it’s essentially an -ous version of “synonym”, and I also remembered how synonym is related to homonyms, like homophone or homograph.

I wondered if there were -ous versions of these homonyms, and as it turned out, they there was “homonymous” and “homophonous”, but surprisingly no “homographous”.

Theres a couple examples of this being used online, but none of them fit “homographous” as it relates to “homograph”. So is there another word that fits this idea?

Homophones: Words that sound the same but with different spelling and meaning (sometimes), such as knew and new.

Homograph: Words that are spelled the same but can have different meaning and sound.

The word "read" can be past or present tense, depending on pronunciation. The words "reed" and "red" can be homophones for "read" but it's impossible to tell without context. The word "breed" rhymes with "read" and can also rhyme with "read" when it is in past tense (bred). However, "breed" and "bred" are neither homophones or homographs. Additionally, the word "lead" and "lead" are homographs. The word "led" can be the past tense of "lead" or a homophone for "lead," but never both.

This level of fuckery is a nightmare to explain and can only be the work of some god forsaken megadouche.

About The Chart

This chart is one big update to the list I cobbled together back in May. This past year I followed all the major updates from the big four publishers in the USA: Kodansha, Seven Seas, Yen Press, and VIZ. (>!Quarantine and WFH have been a frustratingly boring dystopian nightmare; between the virus and my Boomer boss, I didn't know what was going to do me in first, but that's a discussion for a different subbreddit!<.) Additionally, there have been lots of past news and discussion posts on r/shoujo from others and me about the upcoming 2021 (and now 2022) license releases.

I've been tasked with coming up with English names for several Chinese names and am having trouble with those that don't have English names starting with a similar sound, such as Chinese names starting with Yu.

Was hoping to get some inspiration on what English sounds Chinese people would feel sound similar to "yu", and so on.

Does anyone have a list of translations of all the usual DND terms? I am very familiar with the English version, but my current group has a mixed player base, and we are frequently reading in both rulebooks in parallel. I mean at the end of the day it's pretty clear what is what, but sometimes it isn't, especially if you wish to look something up in the Index of one of the books.

Umbreon V Alt and Ray Alt are gone

Shiren the Wanderer series is one of the Mystery Dungeon series. It is more difficult than PMD series, but it is very challenging. All of the games in the Shiren series are independent of each other in terms of story. If you are interested, choose anything you want. (Recommended: Shiren1[SNES], Shiren2, Shiren5)

Figured I'd make a thread for this. If anyone spots any storefronts selling the English sets in Europe please post them here, currently I've only found one. Hopefully we get a few more popping up now that we know it'll be coming here, I'd much rather not have to buy from the US.

GameTradeStore - Based in Italy, seems to offer commercial distribution and retail. Quite expensive, 80 euros per box.
GameShop Marli - Based in Germany, also seems to be 80 euros per box unfortunately.
