A list of puns related to "Like a Prayer (song)"
I'm still new to Aretha Franklin but this song the first I heard from her on the radio. This song is perfect, I love the structure and the simplicity. Her vocal performance is very catchy as always. I'm looking for anything by her or similar artists that have a very similar sound, melody or structure
We covered different LAP versions in an earlier post, which remixes from the time of the album do you like for the other singles? Even though the pickings are kind of slim for dance club songs other than EY and KIT she still consistently had at least one or two alternate mixes of her songs, and for 1989/90 not everybody did that yet. She's been ahead of that curve since the start of her career, anyway these are the ones I found listed for each of the rest of the singles:
EXPRESS YOURSELF
CHERISH
OH FATHER
KEEP IT TOGETHER
I couldn't find a remix or even an edit of Dear Jessie, not sure I realized that. Let me know of any others you know from the era that I omitted and I'll add them.
hey everyone. it's dead heir records and we're podcasting about just one of the best songs of all time in my book.
it's like a prayer by madonna. this song is a fucking masterclass in text setting, cellular motives that develop throughout a song, and structurally important introductions, which is a very rare thing in pop music to me.
if you don't know us, we're a washed up juilliard pianist and composer who do a live podcast series called hit disciple where we dissect our favorite songs from a music theory perspective and demonstrate the actual work that goes into analyzing a song. we treat pop songs the same way we treated classical symphonies.
this episode is again, extremely long, and we considered breaking it into two parts, but thought it might make the final product less cohesive given our ethos of just recording live no matter what to best showcase the process of "discipling" a song. fair warning. and no shame in turning us off or coming back to us later. ;D
whether you're new to theory and want to theorize along with us, a pro and want to pick apart our analysis, or just are bored and like music and want to hear us make jokes about madonna for 2.5 hours, please give us a listen. we can be found on:

just also wanted to give a special thank you to this subreddit. this is our 30th episode which is a bit of a milestone, and we really have gotten so much love from this community on here. really makes us happy and keeps us doing this even though it seems incredibly pointless and like a big old waste of time on certain days. so if you like what you hear, think about shooting us a message and letting us know. or telling a buddy. it means a ton to us.
a snapshot of our written analyses of the song can be found on our instagram, which i humbly suggest u subscribe to.
happy thursday everybody. xoxo to our billions.

For example, they're looked back on as classics (especially Livin on a Prayer) and most people love it, was it that popular in 1986 or has it gotten more popular over time?
A few months ago I was drunk in a bar listening to Like A Prayer, and I thought, this would make a badass acoustic cover. When I got home, I googled it and found this beastly, behemoth of a man doing an acoustic cover with a band. He was a real southern-style rock singer, reminded me of Corey Taylor, and he did a lot of covers. I'm guessing he was pretty established because this performance was on a radio station.
I'm desperate to hear it again... Any ideas?
For me, The Prayer's outro is my favorite. I just LOVE the slower beat to it, and the fog horn thing at the beginning is just so ominous and cool. It's also longer, which is cool.
What is your opinion?
(For reference, the outro on The Prayer starts at 2:01 in the song and the outro on 5% Tint starts at 2:22)
Name a song and I will describe you!
I'm a big fan of The Chemical Wedding, and I missed out when Bruce was solo touring on seeing any of those songs played live. (Albeit, I don't think he came anywhere near my lonely burg.)
I know it's not possible, but I would get a real kick if in between Iron Maiden tunes, they inserted King In Crimson or Gates of Urizen.
Does anyone else wish for something like this?
Prophets are going through the roof!
Iβm sorry if the explanation is kinda wonky, but English is not my first language. The things I remember about it: It was a male singer, in his 30-40s I think It was a pop song, very energetic I donβt remember a lot of the music video, but I think it has some parts filmed inside a train (?) and by the end of it 3 persons are dancing and it has that kind of zoom in their faces with their names on it Probably from 2013-2018 I only remember the chorus being this βwo wo wo wo wo wo woβ that repeated 3x I think, it was almost like a bark
I hope this is enough information to help, i used to love this song but kinda drifted away from kpop for a long time and now Iβm trying to find it again. Thank you all in advance
I wonder
