A list of puns related to "License to Wed"
Just watched the movie on Netflix because I saw Jim was in it. But I was surprised to see Kelly, Kevin and Angela. Is it just a coincidence or are there other commonalities between License to Wed and The Office? Directors or producers or something?
My officiant is from out of state and is planning on leaving the day after my wedding (wedding is on a Saturday), but that means she will not be in town on a business day to be able to return the marriage license to the register of deeds. I know it must be returned within 10 days, does this have to be done by the officiant? Can it be someone else? Or can it be mailed?
Edit: Iβm in Forsyth county specifically.
Two of my really good friends are getting married, and they decided that I am going to perform the wedding. I just got off the phone with my local council who were not helpful in the slightest about where to get a license to legitimise myself as a minister in the eyes of UK law (kept asking what building my friends were getting married in, which hasn't been decided) and I was wondering if /r/FSM could help?
I honestly have no idea how this works. We kinda just assumed I'd be able to apply for a license and it would cost X amount and allow me to marry them - is this the case? Do I need said license in the UK, or is just being ordained enough? Has anyone gone through the process who could help me?
I live in London. Thanks.
This might be a huge NO, but here's the pickle I am in:
I am planning to elope in California, but I realized (after the flight was already booked of course) that the county clerk's office will be closed by time my fiancΓ© and I arrive. So I was wondering... Is it possible to get a marriage license from Michigan (state I live in), go to California and have our friend (who is ordained and also from Michigan) marry us out there, and just bring the license back and file when I get home? My first thought is to just change our flight and try and get there earlier, but I fear that would stress me out/be hectic.
And any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
A while back, this one. Some background though... I'd once driven a friend who didn't wear their seatbelt, and copped a $300 fine for it.
To this story. A family friend's sons needed a lift to the airport early one morning for a long-planned trip. I lived about 10 miles from their place, and the 30 mile trip I was taking to work the opposite direction took me right past the airport, so it was a bit extra time out of the morning... 15 miles to the west to pick up the sons, then 45 miles east instead of 30 east, but they begged and both phoned me and I said I was good to give them the lift.
I turned up in the morning, loaded up their gear, the sons both in the car and said goodbye to their parents, and we took off. drove a few miles up the freeway and my seatbelt alert starts pinging. Son 1 in the front seat had taken off his belt. I asked him to put it on, he goes "nah, I don't do seatbelts".
So I pulled over. Looked back at the other son in the back seat (which didn't have alarms) and sure enough, he'd taken off his belt too.
Then the arguing started. I was blunt as I could be that I'm not risking my license and my money so they could get a free lift I didn't care one way or another about.
Roughly as follows, paraphrased because it was years ago but they were both in on it.
Me: I'm not moving the car unless the belts are on. I've been fined once before, not doing it again.
Son1: I told you, I don't do seatbelts. Dad's OK with it.
Me: I'm not. And you Son2, yours on too. Not moving until they're on.
Son1: Do you have any idea how dangerous they are in an accident?
Me: blink
Son1 then puts his behind him and clicks it in.
Me: No, belt goes around you. doesn't count.
Son1: It'll turn off the alarm. go. you'll see. We need to get going
Me: We can, when you put the belt on. I don't give a shit about the alarm. I care it's a six hundred buck fine if you two don't have belts on.
Son2: Come on, we'll be late
Me: Your flight's not for another hour and a half. Belts on
Son1 then calls his dad. Complains we've stopped, dad asks why, Son1 explains, then his dad tells him to just put the belt on. Son1 says OK, but didn't notice I'd heard his dad's side too, and said his dad says I need to get a move on.
Me: Not. Until. Belts. Are. On.
This goes back and forth, to the point I will be late to work if I don't get going. Son1 is all "fine then, turn around, I'll get dad to drive".
Me: Belts on then.
Son1: No. I've told you already.
Me: then we'r
... keep reading on reddit β‘My wife got her second DUI about a month ago and lost her driver's license. She got her first about six months ago and we had a big fight about it. She's always been a heavy drinker, and she's in an industry where going out for drinks with clients and coworkers is fairly routine. I don't really drink. The occasional beer. It was her first citation, but not the first time she'd driven under the influence. After that, I suggested she get help, she exploded, I got mad, she got mad, things were better for a bit, then came the second DUI in January.
Thankfully, I think this was the wakeup call she needed. She's started going to AA meetings, she just got her 30-day chip, and it looks like she's on the right track.
I'm glad for that, but I'm still really mad at her. She was stupid and careless and put herself and others at risk, and now our household is inconvenienced by having only one licensed driver. So I've been refusing to drive her anywhere. Sometimes I'm legitimately busy and need to be somewhere for work. Other times, I just don't want to. I make her take the bus to work.
She's accused me of not being supportive of her battle with alcohol and told me that I need to get over it and stop trying to teach her a lesson.
But she was stupid and careless. More than once. Frankly, she was a serious bitch when we fought about it. I think she made her bed and needs to deal with the consequences of her choices, and that me being her personal taxi is just enabling her by removing a consequence of her illegal and potentially deadly choices.
AITA for refusing to drive my wife who lost her license to a DUI and making her take the bus?
FH and I live in Ohio but we have planned a lovely, intimate wedding down in North Carolina. I am confused about whether we are to obtain an Ohio marriage license, since we are residents, or if we are to obtain a license in the North Carolina.
Does anyone know the answer to this?
Hi all I'm really needing some insight about my current situation.
My fiance and I were meant to get married last year but we ended up having to cancel because of Covid. During the months leading up to the wedding however, my nmum made a huge fuss about the guest list and it got so bad that my family ended up in turmoil (currently not on talking terms to my parents and some of my siblings) and the joy of our wedding was ruined. To add to this, I have a narc brother in law who both my partner and I are afraid of in terms of what he might say or do at our wedding because he has a history of ruining events.
Due to both the joy being taken away and fear of what will be said or done if we did have a wedding, my partner and I have regretfully decided to not have the usual wedding celebrations and instead go to the marriage registry.
I was hoping to get some ideas from people as to how we could make our wedding special and whether there is a way around this situation so we can actually have the wedding we originally wanted.
Any insight/knowledge/ideas are very much welcomed. Thank you immensely.
You can read my original AMA here. TL;DR: At my first real job out of college doing econometrics for a minor league hockey team, I had an idea for an app but didnβt know how to code and couldnβt afford to pay someone to program it for me. I bought four books off Amazon and spent the next few months learning how to program. Within 10 months, I got a prototype off the ground and sold it to a few big colleges. It was a synchronized smartphone light show. It was adopted by fans quickly and soon started to spread throughout into the NBA, NHL, concerts, and even corporate events for companies like Berkshire Hathaway and Nissan.
What makes the app unique or special is that that it doesn't use WiFi, Bluetooth, or Cell Service; instead, I designed a mechanism for network-free data transfer using inaudible, ultrasonic sound waves. This ultrasonic transmission protocol ended up expanding to power more than just cool light shows and now is starting to change the ways hundreds of thousands of devices communicate with each other on a daily basis.
A lot has happened since posting my first AMA two years ago. For example, I bought my cat a new, heated bed and had my first experience with investors.
Iβve been extremely lucky with how everything has turned out so far and can only hope for good things to come. My iPhone logs that I'm on Reddit 7+ hours per week... so I thought I'd use that time today in the hopes that I can help others who are just starting to code, wanting to code, or looking to start a business. Or, perhaps more importantly, I just want to re-share this photo of my cat.

Focus is always given to a select few causes when it comes to the physical welfare of people in the US.
However, automobile accidents have often been ignored on the national level. It is an issue for everyone, no matter your ethnicity, economic standing, sex, weight or education level.
Going to get groceries is litterly one of the most dangerous things an American can do. A lot more time is spent trying to pass legislature against firearms and money spent on stopping the import and sale of narcotics than there is for stricter guidelines on the road. A fraction of the people are killed by over dosing, murder or suicide than auto accidents.
Driving school should be mandatory for all new drivers. A driving test should have to be administered with each renewal of a persons drivers license.
More money should be spent on technology to monitor, track and catch speeding and reckless drivers.
There should be zero tolerance for any driver operating a vehicle under the influence. Texting and driving should be more than a ticket/citation.
So many lives have been taken out due to pure human stupidity. I would like strides to be taken to make the roads a safer place.
Edit: I am aware that NHTSA will often force new vehicles to new new standards. Iβm specifically talking about what is required of the driver.
