I recently came across this article, and was just utterly shocked how much misinformation it contains. It was so egregious that I felt compelled to submit the article here and talk about just how wrong it is. Also, the article contains special guest appearances by none other than Adrian Zenz and Rushan Abbas.

I'm not going to point out everything wrong with the article, just the few parts I noticed were especially wrong.

An autonomous region located in the country’s far northwest corner, bordering Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia, Xinjiang has been under Chinese control since the People’s Republic of China was founded in 1949. Uyghurs — the majority of whom follow the Hanafi school of Islamic jurisprudence, one of four schools of thought within Sunni Islam — are by far the largest ethnic group in Xinjiang, although the region is also home to many Uzbeks, Kyrgyz, Tajiks, Kazakhs, and Hui (Chinese Muslims). Their culture is distinct from that of Han Chinese — the majority ethnic group in China — in many ways: Their food is largely halal, based on mutton, wheat noodles, nan, and savory pastries.

So this small paragraph alone contains at least 3 factual errors.

One, Xinjiang has been under "Chinese control" for much longer than since 1949. The Republic of China, the Qing dynasty... etc etc. all the way to the Tang dynasty over 1000 years ago, and even the Han dynasty from over 1700 years ago. So this article is factually incorrect on this count.

Two, it lists off some ethnic groups in Xinjiang, but fails to mention the second largest ethnic group that calls Xinjiang their home: Han Chinese, some of which have been living there since the Yuan dynasty.

Third, it tries to create an artificial divide by saying that their culture is "distinct" from Han Chinese. Grouping all those disparate groups together and flattening them by referring to them as a singular "their culture" is wrong. There are fairly big cultural differences between Tajiks, Uyghurs, and Hui, but the author doesn't care cuz they're Muslim and that's all that matters.. The only comparison made is that of food. But no matter, let's look at the food she mentions. Wheat noodles. Huh? How is that distinct from Han Chinese culture? Why would she even bring that up when it's very clear, to any person even remotely knowledgeable about China, that wheat noodles are a big part of Han Chinese cuisine?

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
