A list of puns related to "Kiss (Carly Rae Jepsen album)"
I've been listening to her since her Tug of War days.
After her completely unexpected success with "Call Me Maybe", it seems like her team tried to quickly put out an album full of bops so she can continue riding on her wave of success. Unfortunately, the result of this pressure was "Kiss"-- an album so unremarkable, I stopped listening to CRJ after it was released. I wonder how many fans were on the same boat?
If Emotion was the album she released after Call Me Maybe, I would've have appreciated her sound a lot more. Emotion was also the album that won critics over (something Kiss failed to do).
Tl;dr, was releasing Kiss like committing career suicide for CRJ? Would she have become more popular if she released a more refined album like Emotion?

Artist: Carly Rae Jepsen
Album: Dedicated Side B
Release Date: May 21, 2020
Listen: Spotify, Apple Music
Carly Rae Jepsen needs no introduction. The release of Dedicated, the fabled follow-up to E MO TION, was perhaps the most anticipated moment in the brief history of this online community. The album delivered a little something for everyone, with bombastic, earnest anthems of love interleaved among sultrier, sassier material. Before listeners could even finish listening through the album, rumors & speculations inevitably began to fly about a possible B-Sides release akin to E MO TION Side B in 2016. Even as the COVID-19 pandemic turned the music industry upside-down with the rest of the world, Jepsen found rhythm and solace in revisiting the cutting room floor of the Dedicated sessions. Her and her team would spend the early months of lockdown polishing and primming the remaining highlights in preparation of the most unsurprising surprise release of the year: Dedicated Side B.
While E MO TION Side B was crafted and presented as a companion EP of sorts with a tight eight-song tracklist, Dedicated Side B nearly matches its better half in duration. With this release, we as fans and listeners have been given an unprecedented window into Jepsenβs creative process when writing an album. She is never shy to assert just how many songs are written while creating a 13-track album (Jepsen usually claims somewhere around 200). I know I certainly would not want to be in the position of having to cull the immensely strong collection of tracks across the two sides of Dedicated into a single album. Thankfully Carly doesnβt have to hold back quite as many of her songs either.
Jepsen comes out swinging from the very beginning with βThis Love Isnβt Crazy,β a worthy understudy to the overflowing Dedicated single βNow That I Found You.β While she likely chose the correct track in this vein for the major release, βThis Love Isnβt Crazyβ could credibly be a lead single of many other artistβs main releases. Carly and her collaborators continue to have a penchant for this exact kind of song, and hopefully more are in the pipeline for the future.
Dedicated as a whole was a more experimental release than its predecessor, and songs like βWindowβ cente

In 2008, Carly Rae Jepsen gave a quick little interview to Maple Music (now Cadence Music Group) to recap her third-place finish in Canadian Idol and discuss her newly-released debut album, Tug of War. Some bizarre biographical facts are dropped, like how she was apparently starting a swing band before Idol, but most of the article is spent indulging in the blossoming artist that was 24-year-old Carly. She is called βeffervescent, levelheaded, and unpretentiousβ and a βself-possessed natural, triple-threat beauty, and all-round heart-melter.β The album is equally extolled; much emphasis is placed on how Carly penned all nine of its tracks, like the βsmartly built, double-edged title track,β and mature artists like Ella Fitzgerald and Feist are evoked. Most crucially, the album is βa million miles away from the bubblegum factoryβ because Carly, as the article emphasizes at the end, is βa true musician.β
Then in 2012, βCall Me Maybeβ blew up worldwide, and Carly suddenly became the face of bubblegum pop and not necessarily true musicianship. It now stands as one of the biggest hits of the 2010s β itβs one of the modicum of songs certified Diamond by the RIAA. At the height of the song's popularity, she was signed to Interscope Records under new manager Sc*oter Braun, and she then rushed out her second album, Kiss, in two months. Despite its obvious seams, the album highlighted Carlyβs affinity for pop music craftsmanship; it was unpolished, but still a solid body of work by an artist most considered to be a flash in the pan.
Her mainstream visibility faded quickly as the Kiss era wore on, even with a Nicki Minaj remix and projects ranging from The Little Mermaid shenanigans to Coca-Cola sponsorships. It was soon time for her to release another album, but what kind of music would the βCall Me Maybeβ girl do now that she didnβt have a hit propelling he

So How Did We Get Here?
2015 saw the release of Carly Rae Jepsenβs 3rd studio album EMOTION. Most of the music world before this saw her as nothing more but a novelty singer, a one hit wonder relegated to the realms of wacky mashup YouTube videos. Yet against all odds, the album took everyone by surprise. EMOTION and to a larger extent Carly was embraced by everyone, from music nerds to internet memers, not to mention the queer community, thanks to its candid embrace of amazing pop and happiness, without feeling cynical or out-of-touch. And although the album was sadly a commercial failure, its legacy continues on, with its excellence spread far and wide in the following years, a short but sweet surprise bonus in the form of EMOTION: SIDE B, and several tracks that were used in the soundtrack of the 2017 animation movie Leap, with the standout track β[Cut To The Feeling](https://www.youtu

β’Lolita (demo version)
β’You Can Be The Boss

This is PURELY SPECULATION so take it with a grain of salt! A user on ATRL mentioned it and there's some evidence to back these claims.
Carly Rae Jepsen penned over 250 songs for her critically-accllaimed third studio album Eβ’MOβ’TION (which is pop perfection, if you haven't heard it already) and in an interview with the New York radio show Zach Sang and the Gang back in August, she revealed that one of the tracks that didn't make it onto the album was written with Bonnie McKee ("Teenage Dream", "Hold it Against Me") about a private activity that rhymes with "contemplation".
EDIT: It's registered with the ASCAP here: (http://i.imgur.com/m4A9LGy.png)
> "Thank you! I couldn't say it myself. Anyways, about five minutes into it I was like, 'You know this isn't making my album right?' and we were like, 'Well whatever, let's just go with it.' And it was so fun to just let yourself ... Because I write for the joy of it and you've gotta let yourself go everywhere."
She also stated that the song was picked up by an act in China. > "We were kind of laughing a little bit later on because it got picked up actually. There's a group in China that wants to make it their next single, and we were like, 'Alright! I wonder if they know what it means?'"
Fast forward to this October, in an interview with Much News last week, she revealed the song's title to be "When I'm Alone".
> "And we're laughing 'cause it did get picked up and we're kind of stoked to see it kind of take on new form with, probably, a more type of a sex kitten who can pull it off."
How does this connect to f(x)? Their track list for 4 WALLS was unveiled at the exhibition today.
> 4 WALLS
> GLITTER
> DEJA VU
> X
> RUDE LOVE
> DIAMOND
> TRAVELER
> PAPI
> CASH ME OUT
> WHEN I'M ALONE
And yes, China and Korea are not the same (also don't forget that Vicki is Chinese!) but songs are shopped around all the time, and it's possible that she mixed it up or was misinformed.
Of course this could all end up being a mere coincidence. Even then, would you be here for a sensual f(x) song about the Touch of (their) Hand(s)?
I never saw Carly Rae Jepsen as an album artist before Emotion so naturally Kiss was something she randomly released to me. Since there is not much new CRJ music coming out I decided to listen to her first commercial pop debut (I see Tug of War as an indie folk record) Kiss.
First of all Kiss is not Call Me Maybe + 16 filler tracks. In fact there are many songs that outshines Call Me Maybe. As you would remember EDM was a big thing in 2012 so some tracks didn't age well. Turn Me Up, Tonight I'm Getting Over You, Curiosity, This Kiss would be good examples of this. Even though they are dated they are still amazing. I don't know what's the deal with Justin Bieber's weird involvement in this album but Beautiful doesn't fit in this album. It should be deleted. Let's take a look at some of the highlights:
Bottom anthem Hurts So Good bursts with energy. Guitar String / Wedding Ring is the perfect campy pop song. More Than A Memory is the sappy bop that makes you dance and cry at the same time. Drive is a cute breezy pop song. Good Time is what technically saves CRJ from being a one hit wonder. Your Hearts Is A Muscle is this album's best song.
At worst this album is a 7 so I recommend checking Kiss out. I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.
I also love Taylor's new album folklore, Charlie XCX's new album How I'm Feeling Now, and The 1975's new album Notes On A Conditional Form.
Ight so Iβve already shared what I believe for best album for DXM, which is Whatβs going on? by Marvin Gaye. So after listening to a lot of music on a lot of acid, I have decided that the best album experience Iβve ever had while tripping was listening to pop goddesses Carly Rae Jepsens magnum opus EMOTION.
I was on 600ug and I was starting to get a little anxious as LSD does, and for some reason I was taken over by an overwhelming desire to listen to Jepsen. As soon as I heard the saxophone on Runaway with me I felt like magic had overtaken me. The whole album is just perfect. The 80s pop style instrumentals are spellbinding and almost euphoric.
Jepsen is one seriously underrated vocalist, and she has probably one of the best voices in pop music. Secondly, sheβs also a VERY underrated song writer. The lyrics on this album sometimes come off as juvenile, but at the same time theyβre extremely vulnerable and I would say even freeing. Iβm a CIS white male and the lyrics on this album made me feel SEXY. I almost never dance but I was in my kitchen tripping my balls off dancing to this album.
I donβt have much more to say mainly because the best part of this album wasnβt necessarily the actual the content but the way it made me FEEL. It was just pure happiness and positivity. Thatβs something you donβt encounter often in your everyday life and when you do you have to cherish it.
hmm.. π
