A Jungian Enthusiast - Type Me

I posted this some time ago to the MBTI sub. Looking for feedback from more knowledgeable people + made some updates.

• How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself.

Late 30s woman. US American from the best coast. I've been acquainted with MBTI for about 20 years. I've taken the official test. I've read Jung's Psychological Types and just about every other relevant book on MBTI/Jungian types. Family and friends also have opinions on my type. But now I'd like to know what a group of strangers on Reddit think - and WHY! You must explain WHY!

Added - I’m less familiar with socionics but am interested in my socionics type too.

• Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow?

No.

• Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it?

I grew up in a religious home, but it wasn’t strict. My parents are what I call “hippy Christians”. They are relaxed people but also kinda doormats, not good at providing much structure or being decisive, etc. I’m not a fan of very regimented environments but find myself more ambitious than them.

Anyhow, I found it easy to believe in God & spiritual stuff as a child. I tended to spot inconsistencies in any belief system though, and it would bug me sometimes; as an adult, spiritual truth is something I seek. But the metaphysical stuff interested me enough to overlook what I saw as more of a flaw in a social system designed to bring people together who share a faith. I now privately think a lot of stuff that would make some people in my parents’ church think I’m nuts because I lean towards esoteric interpretations. I decided I don’t like organized religion or organized groups based on ideaologies. I don’t like creating an identity based on this stuff. I like to feel free to change my mind about stuff at will.

My dad and step-dad are both creative people - artist and musician. My mom is more of a traditional house wife type, but obviously she likes artists. So my family very much values the arts and intellectual stuff. They like culture a lot. My mom’s side is Hispanic and very emotionally expressive; they’re stereotypically fiery and passionate.

I was often accused of being cold growing up, but at the same time, the stuff I gravitated towards was acceptable; they aren’t “down to earth” people, but romantic. I was raised going to museums, libraries, art galleries, etc. Instead o

Is Jungian type the soul?

i.e. a property of one's essence that seems to have no discrete neural correlates but produces emergent qualities, never changes, and that governs what one can become in the afterlife? It seems that there are multiple dimensions, equally real, corresponding to the cognitive metabolisms (or at least Se-Ni vs. Ne-Si) and that it may be impossible to leave yours, even after death. So maybe, if you're reincarnated, you can only be reincarnated as someone on the same perception axis (Se vs. Si) and with the same heart (Fi vs. Fe) because you have to be reproduced from the same reality you originated from.

Each appears to have its own ontology if you've studied the work of Juan Sandoval (cognitivetype.com/model). For example, the Ni-Se dimension is monistic but the Si-Ne dimension is dualistic due to direct vs. extrapolated intake of sense data and holistic vs. modular synthesis of information, respectively. This is not to say that the soul is reducible to type, but the immortal soul may be something like type and a handful of other essential properties or sensibilities.

If I had to guess, I'd say Se-Ni users are eternally reincarnated with token consciousness until they reach the highest form of sentience and become pure energy while Ne-Si's have immaterial afterlives governed by the laws they believe in where allegiances are preserved. Weigh in if you'd like.

What I predict Aaron Rodgers will do based on his Jungian personality type (fun speculation)

Preface: this is not science. Nothing I say here is meant to be taken as fact, or definitive but just as fun speculation based on what I know. Personality typing is not a hard science, just like psychology is not a hard science. Its often subjective and yes personality typing tests give different results. This is based on the work of Psychologist Carl Jung, and there is some research on correlations between brain chemistry and personality but you are free to say all of this is like horoscopes, or hogwash, I wont be offended, but its fun and I enjoy it.

So the question I want to answer is, when push comes to shove, would Aaron Rodgers retire, or is this a bluff?

TLDR; He will not allow himself to lose in the breath holding war. He is in an ego war with a specific person, or specific group of people in the FO that he holds in contempt. And it boils down to them losing more than him getting what he wants.

So the real question is, will Ownership choose the FO or Aaron Rodgers?

Long Version

So Aaron Rodgers is an ENTP. That type is known as the "Visionary". Basically its a type thats like the idiosyncratic, big opinion, goes against the grain type. They speak their mind, they love to call out bad thinking, very independent in their thought. They see the big picture before most people. People like Kanye, Steve Jobs, Trey from South Park, Sacha Baron Cohen, Eric Andre. spend a lot of time thinking about them because they are probably the my favorite type, and a lot of my heroes and closest friends are this type. They can be really nutty, they can be really brainy, but if theres one thing that they are often, it is DGAF.

This lines up with what you probably already know about Aaron Rodgers. And it lines up with his behavior on draft night. They are also very Machiavellian and good at scheming/plotting things many steps ahead, in order to create a result. They are able to anticipate what other people think. Thats why they are called Visionaries.

Another aspect of them, if you know any in your personal life, is that they can be (not always) but can be vindictive when they are pissed. They are the type who will look up information on Google in an argument and spend hours and send it to you in order to be proven right. They HATE bullshitters, they hate liars. They hate people who try to con them, one-up them. They are very nit-picky, they make AMAZING debaters, amazing lawyers. In fact they might live with a general suspicion that the world is

Type me please. This subreddit looks like it has a lot of experience typologists. I am mainly interested in my Jungian type and if anyone could give me a rough outline of my socionics type. I am new to this so if I do any mistakes, feel free to inform me. Thank you all in advance.

How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself.

I’m a male, 24 years of age. Relatively social guy with strong interests in space, mathematics, politics and history. I hate loud environments, I’m talking clubs, parties etc. I prefer smalls groups of friends and don’t like mixing my social circles together. Mainly because each group knows a slightly different version of me. Not that I fake my image, just different areas of comfort with each group and the idea of merging them together would mean that one group discovers a side of me that I wouldn’t want them knowing. I’m a very sceptical person and never take anything at face value. Especially data and statistics. I know how easy they are to manipulate and I have done it myself to support my points or create narratives. I like movies and reading. Typically, my interests fall into thrillers, horrors, fantasy, war and biographical genres.

Just other areas about me, I’m not sure if it will help but it may be worth considering, I relate to enneagram 1w9 and I’m fairly certain my stacking is SX/SO and my temperament is melancholic-phlegmatic. Again, it may help, it may not, just things I thought would be useful to consider.

Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow?

Nope.

Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it?

Both my parents are deeply religious but my father was the most forceful about the rules that he set in the house. He treated the house like religious grounds and it meant that we could and couldn’t do certain things within it. When I was young, I had followed it because of how aggressive his approach was in enforcing it. I never followed the religion or the rules of the house out of belief, more so out of fear. My parents fought a lot when I was young. I used to look forward to going to school because it meant that I wouldn’t have to be at home. The funny thing is, because of how much time I spent in school I figured out that I was quite academically gifted. I also realised that I could understand the emotions of others quite easily, why they were upset, the motivations behind their actions etc. When I had turned 15, my father and I had argued a lot over his rules and how they didn’t make sense. It was a very loud couple of years in my house. I would always back down eventually because it would always upset my mother whenever we fought. I wo

Would I benefit from DBT or Jungian therapy? Trying to decide next type to try.

I (27F) was in CBT on-and-off from ages of 4-21, did group therapy sessions for anxiety, some Gestalt/ Somatic/ EMDR recently. Looking to try something else.

Some of the issues I struggle with are:

-childhood trauma. I was in therapy so young because my dad was a heroin addict, and bipolar with psychotic features. My mom was a single parent but he was still around until he went to prison when I was 10. I basically watched him get worse and go insane. He is now homeless and severely mentally ill.

-diagnosed social anxiety, general anxiety, depression, inattentive ADHD

-sex/intimacy. I was 15 when I got too drunk at a party and multiple guys took advantage of me in front of my classmates. I was severely bullied and ostracized at school, leading to my dropping out in grade 12. After that I became hyper sexual and even more uncomfortable with true intimacy from men. I've only been in two relationships now, the most recent of which was abusive.

-past abusive relationship. It ended in 2019 but I still haven't dated seriously. Starting to think real love isn't in the cards for me.

-attachment issues

-low self-esteem

-existential angst (lol)

-avoidance of EVERYTHING. I isolate, I can forget what I like, that other people exist, even myself to an extent.

-lack of a real life. I get off work and watch Netflix or scroll my phone. maybe I'm addicted to the internet. I never got into sports or hobbies as a kid besides reading, my favourite avoidance habit of the time. I haven't even learned how to drive yet.

-school. I'm only a few classes away from graduating my psych degree but I had to take this semester off because when classes went online during COVID I avoided it - with much anxiety - and failed everything I tried. Now I ruined my GPA before graduating and I'm questioning if I am able or willing to finish it...

Things in my life got better when I was 21, I stopped binge drinking and got on antidepressants, finished my high school and started at university.

Then I dated an abusive guy who convinced me to get off my medication and move across the country. I thought I was following my heart for once, instead of my fears. It ended up with him strangling and beating me on a vacation in Mexico.

I feel so empty... I thought I made good friends out here but they're younger and have different priorities, or maybe I am just so disconnected that I don't notice when I push people away. Or maybe they can tell that I see myself as irreparable.

myers briggs, jungian types & grant stacking

i've heard a lot of people say that those three are way different things, and can somebody explain to me how exactly? a lot of people have also been complaining of others not using the correct terminology, so what exactly is up with that?

apparently, one of those is letter-typing, the other works on things like n/s, t/f, etc., and then there are cognitive functions, which i've heard a lot of people say are grant's stacking theory..

i am now lost in all of that, so could someone please tell me what termins are used for each and briefly sum them up? i am quite lost right now so if you can, try to word it in a way that makes sense

p.s. i've heard people heavily disprove harold grant and say that it is looked down upon in the mbti community, but then again, most i've seen is based on cognitive functions so how could that be?

What are the MBTI types of your family members? I want to see what kind of Jungian hell you were raised in.

Mine:

Mom: ENTJ

Dad: INFP

Me (female): ENTP

Brother: ENFP

Sister: ESFJ

The dynamic: My brother and I get along very well and we basically have the same thoughts. He is extremely fun to be around and he’s very creative. My sister and I also get along well, but she just doesn’t have the same thought process as my brother and I. I fought a lot with my mother, but we get along most of the time and any conflicts usually blow over quickly. I also get along very well with my father, who would step in and try to stop arguments between my mother and I. My brother also fought with my mother, my father stayed out of it, and my sister is her “golden child” to explain it easily. My sister and my brother fight a lot. My father and brother get frustrated with each other from time to time, but overall they get along very well.

Our family is... very loud, to say the least. There is a lot of chaos and it’s almost never entirely peaceful, even without arguing. There’s a lot of disagreement when it comes to rules, and there’s a lot of negotiation and idea bouncing. It gets chaotic.

On Jungian Types and other stuff

I have seen a greater frequency than before of posts using personalities indicators that aren't neurotyping itself, mainly mbti. I do not think this is a good thing to do in this sub and I will develop this point of view along the post. I also do not think people should stop posting stuff with their mbti types, cause you do what you want. But I think there should be a theory to define how those two should interact.

Firstly, I want to declare that english is not my native language and I'm on the impressionist side of the chart, so I will try my best and fail to speak clearly and properly. I also want to add that I have barely started reading Jung and have not gotten to the point in which my understanding should be considered correct, so I will try to avoid describing his theory too much.

I will start with theory. Jung originally proposed cognitive types as a mean to define how people think. This is not mbti yet. Mbti uses Jungian typology, but it develops its own ideas. Also, there are many wrong definitions of those types on the internet because of the simple fact that people take it too far. My favorite example is how intuition goes from a form of perception by the uncounscious to capacity of abstraction or predicting the future (mainly used metaphorically or to describe how it seems to non intuitives). It is not wrong per se, as they are possible consequences of intuition, but it is simply not what Jung intended to describe in the first place.

When comparing to neurotyping, intuition even seems similar to impressionistic laterality (newtypes for example). What I think we should do is compare intuition to the neurotype's axis, and see if they: correlate, differentiate, act toghether, act independently, should not be part of the same theory, etc. By doing this with Jungian typology, we could refine and popularize neurotyping by using a well known and established theory. I feel like some people proposed this already, but in a more definitive way causing a more difficult approach to this idea.

This should be done, I think, with laterality x linearity and lexicality x impressionism being compared with intuition x sensing and thinking x feeling. I am on my way to study that part of Jung but it will take a bunch of months and I do not feel like an expert on the topic, that is why I ask for your help.

This could also be extended for other stuff such as the big five and whatever if you feel like it.

However, that should be done in such a way that your mbti

It is a mildly personalized test (aka I need to talk to the test taker themselves for a very small portion of the test) so for it to be accurate and organized, you’d need to DM me (on reddit) to get started.

It’s an axis predilection test where you read excerpts and choose.

Are Certain Personality Types A Result of Narcissistic Abuse? (Jungian Typology/MBTI & Enneagram)

For those with a bit of MBTI knowledge

As a student and researcher of Psychology and Typology (Personality-Typing), I am plagued with many questions on how and when we actually become the type of person that we will be until we pass away. My own personal theories on the subject suggest that certain personality types are the result of chronic/long-lasting, or perhaps even acute/short-term childhood trauma. Chronic trauma would, of course, include being the child of a narcissistic parent. I am an INFJ, regarding the MBTI; and a Type 4 (with a 5 wing), regarding the Enneagram. Many INFJ and INFP Types (as well as a great deal of ENFJ and ENFP Types) tend to have had some kind of emotional, sexual or physical abuse happen to them at a young age. The E (Extraverted) Types - ENFJ and ENFP tend to have experienced the loss of a parent at a young age (a traumatic event, indeed!), but didn't necessarily experience abuse. I personally believe that most, if not almost ALL, iNtuitive (N) Types have experienced some degree of childhood abuse or trauma, but I argue that NF (iNtuitive Feeling) Types have been through the most chronic/long-lasting periods of abuse and/or trauma.

WARNING: THE NEXT STATEMENTS MAY TRIGGER SOME PEOPLE

With that being said, I am an INFJ and a 4w5. I was raised by a single-parent narcissist (as an ONLY child) until I was 16, at which time I left my mother's home. I was sexually abused by a step-brother from age 6-8. I was raped at age 14 by a 30 year-old man. I was then raped multiple times by my step-father from age 15-16, and ultimately became pregnant as a result. Gave my son up for adoption the day after I turned 17, and then I finally caught a break.

I know, and have learned of, SO many NF Types of personalities who went through horrendous childhood trauma as well. It seems to be a trend. Im wondering if being raised by a narcissistic parent is what initially caused my brain to interpret the world as an INFJ. Or perhaps it was a perfect combination of everything. Perhaps it's random and there's nothing to it all. Please comment with your thoughts on the subject if you're a nerd like me and know that I'm referring to here! Thanks!

Word to describe the role of a certain type of child in a family - jungian psychology?

Hello, I need help to find this word, or rather what you call this type of child behavior in Jungian psychology.

The description of the child is something like this; a child in a family constellation whom absorbs the unconscious (negative) emotions and dynamic within the family and thus project the emotions onto the world through destructive behavior, like aggression, depression or self harm, etc.

I was told the name a couple of years ago but now I've totally forgot it. It's something like "The _______ child".

Edit; Alright, thanks all for trying to help me. But I havent found the word. I asked my Mother too, cus she's the one who told me from the start. She couldn't remember what the word was either or if it had anything to do with Jung. She sugested "symptom child" but its also not the one. And now i am not sure if its a jungian terminology or a "normal" psychological term.

Oh well... Maybe one day it will come to me.

Edit again: alright, I finally remembered it! And I misled you guys a bit, cus i thought it was Jung and that it had "child" in it.

But the term is "the identified patient".. And this is copied from the wiki-page.

"Identified patient is a clinical term often heard in family therapy discussion. It describes one family member in a dysfunctional family who expresses the family's authentic inner conflicts. Usually the "designated patient" expresses their physical symptoms unconsciously, unaware they are making overt, dysfunctional family dynamics, which have been covert and no one can talk about at home. Occasionally the identified patient is partly conscious of why and how they have become the focus of concern in the family system.

As a family systems dynamic, the overt symptoms of identified patient draw attention away from the "elephants in the living room no one can talk about" which need to be discussed, such as a pending separation or divorce. If covert abuse occurs between family members, the overt symptoms can draw attention away from the perpetrator(s).

The identified patient is a kind of diversion and a kind of scapegoat. Often a child, this is "the split-off false carrier of a breakdown in the entire family system," which may be a transgenerational disturbance or trauma.[1]"

Thanks!

INDEX/MATCH type lookups in Salesforce?

Hi,

I'm currently learning SF, and trying to create some pricing solutions at a quote line level.

In Excel, I'd use INDEX, MATCH, MATCH - and from my research, I guess the answer in SF is either a flow process or Apex code. But still.... would like to get some fresh ideas!! :)

So:

  • At the quote line level, I have a drop down:
    • can choose "iphone 12" or "iphone 13" (as example)
    • in the same quote, we have also manually entered storage size in a field "64GB" or "128GB"
  • I have a seperate custom object, that lists the pricing:
    • 3 columns:
        1. iphone type (12 or 13)
        1. storage size (64 or 128)
        1. and finally .... the lookup value that we want - Price
  • So.. depending on what is entered into the storage field + the drop down for product type, we can do the index match (in excel) and pull out the pricing.

(in reality, this is not product related - just used as a simple example. It's more service related. But the logic is the same).

Any ideas how to do this simply?

Jungian book on the concept of Psychological Types.

Hello, I am not keen on picking up Jung’s Psychological Type at the moment and wish to understand his type theory through Jungian’s works. I have looked into Daryl Sharp’s book on Psychological Types. I would highly appreciate any book, references and articles on the type theory.
