A list of puns related to "Jimmy Edwards"
Not dismissing Jimmy's actions, but any sort of effect Rachel's actions in opening the time capsule had on him. I suppose the writers needed a way for her character to be mainly forgiven. But the throwaway "if that hadn't set him off, something else would've." I don't know if offensive is the right word, but it's incredibly insulting and I really hate Mouth there. It's such a level of disrespect to his Jimmy's pain and actions, and Rachel's actions.
Edit: I was more like Jimmy than I was the elite populars - not wanting to hurt others, but that anger and loneliness, and that dismissal really hurt. By Mouth's logic, no bullying is a big deal or counts, because you can't tell ahead of time what's event is going to "set them off" so it's not your fault if you hurt them because someone else would have anyway. Maybe the writing is meant just for the cool kids? I don't know. But I find it horrible.
Since everyone seems to think Iβm saying itβs ok to bring a gun and shoot people, go watch the school shooting episode and the shooterβs storyline on Degrassi - came out the year before One Tree Hillβs. Check out how they handled both the bullies and bullied, if you want to understand what Iβm saying. If it makes it more appealing to watch, you will see a very young Drake in the shooting.
So I just introduced OTH to my boyfriend and Iβm rewatching it with him. Obviously Keith is his favorite so far and it has me thinking of the school shooting episode with Jimmy. On my first watch of OTH I was stunned with this episode and actually forgot about Jimmy by the time the episode happened. I had to look up Jimmy on Google and immediately remembered him from the River Court. I didnβt even notice that he seemingly disappeared from the show. Obviously upon my rewatch, itβs noticeable in S1 that he doesnβt appear again.
My question is, why is that? Did they ever come out and say this was done purposefully? It had me thinking him and Mouth start ravenshoops.com and the cute scene where Whitey says βno mediaβ in the lockerroom and Mouth excitedly says, βweβre media!β And Jimmy says βno, weβre banned media!β Why didnβt he continue going to the games and broadcasting with Mouth? Any insight is very appreciated :)
The Jimmy storyline is obviously a huge and important part of the show but I have some real gripes about the aftermath, specifically how everyone either reacted or was expected to react.
The mental health aspect of Jimmy is so real and so sad, it was important for them to address on the show and I think they did a good job.
With that being said he still brought a gun to school, shot a student and caused trauma for an entire community.
Mouthβs heart was in the right place but it was completely unreasonable to expect people to feel respect for Jimmy after what he did. Expecting people to go to his funeral, sign his yearbook, etc - if thatβs how Mouth felt thatβs amazing that he could find that peace but expecting others to us insane to me. (I will say that moment that he brings the yearbook to Jimmyβs mom was so touching though, tears)
With the exception of very few main cast members up until after graduation nearly everyone still thought that Jimmy killed Keith - how is anyone expected to feel remorse for him? (Again, okay if they do as a personal decision but should not be expected).
Rant over. RIP Jimmy & Keith
I just watched the shooting episode... always a rough one to watch. But goddamm, Colin Fickes is an incredible actor and his performance always gives me chills. I could feel the pain in his voice as he says how much he's suffering... hats off to this man.
What is he up to? I have his hyper freak show poster with him and Chris on it
Honestly they weren't thinking about him in season 2, maybe they should of had moments leading up into that arc instead of it being random.
Do you think that jimmy was one of the bestest friends on Degrassi? The situation with Marco was really great and how he was kind to Rick afterwards
I stumbled across this article here which makes the claims mentioned in the title as well as other stuff such as claims (with videos cited) that the protestors are violently attacking people in cars and throwing Molotov cocktails at intersections, spraying racist anti-Chinese graffiti, being racist towards mainlanders by saying things like βHong Kong is for Hong Kongersβ and calling them locusts, vandalizing trade unions, meeting with US diplomats, harassing mainlanders, forcing journalists to delete photos, blocking and harassing medics, and provoking the police to respond violently.
Iβm generally supportive of the protests, but I also donβt have enough knowledge on some of the claims theyβre making in the article, and I was wondering if anyone here who has more knowledge on these can respond to/refute at least some of these claims in this article and the assertion made that the protestors are βviolent and racistβ. Thanks!
So, I just finished watching the school shooting episode... Does anyone else cry super hard at the entire episode no matter how many times theyβve seen it??
The way Keith shields Lucas with his own body as he walks Peyton out the door...I just bawl like a baby. Jimmy deserved better. Keith deserved better. Lucas and Karen deserved better...he was finally going to be Lucasβs dad...I just canβt
Now, I don't really wanna be insensitive here. I understand Jimmy was going through some major bouts of loneliness and didn't have a friend to talk to. I think everyone deserves a close friend, and he felt abandoned. And the release of the time capsule obviously served as the breaking point for him.
And I dont even have a problem with what he said in the time capsule. He lashed out and it was meant to be private, so he had every right to be upset and feel alienated once it got out.
BUT....none of that serves as a reason to go into a school with a loaded gun and open fire into a crowded hallway of students.
So because he wasn't the one that killed Keith, and only ended up killing himself, he's supposed to he treated as some kind of martyr?? You really want to give him a cookie for not killing anyone?? What??
Keep in mind that the bullet hit Peyton. If Lucas doesn't show up, she bleeds to death and Jimmy would've been responsible. I'm sure if Peyton dies, he certainly doesn't get treated as some martyr or lone wolf ass school shooter. So is the line between him being hated and him being sympathized is Lucas being in the library? You have to realize the magnitude of shooting someone to near death.
And I don't want to hear that whole "he didn't mean to hurt anyone" he opened fire in a hallway full of students. He clearly meant to do SOMETHING.
It just really irks me how he gets treated as this fallen soldier of Tree Hill. Again, I understand the mental health implications here, but he had full control and knowledge of what he was going to do. It serves as ZERO excuse for what he did. Period.
And I'll take it a step further that might get eyes rolling. The episode and the way it treated Jimmy as a sympathetic figure afterwards reminded me a lot of how media tries to find humanity in white school shooters. You can find humanity in anyone. I can take the Columbine or Virginia Tech shooter and find traces of humanity in their pasts. It doesn't mean anything when these type of acts are committed.
Only person I felt sorry for related to Jimmy was his mother. No one deserves to lose their child. End. Sorry if people thought this was insensitive btw
