Anything special about Jeane Kirkpatrick ?

Let's be clear, we all know that she would support 3rd world dictatorships in Latin America since she's a neoconservative, but that's it. So, are there anything special about her ? ( Also, I've even heard some comments that she is America's Margaret Thatcher... )

Would Jeane Kirkpatrick support a Russia united under either Igor Shafarevich, (Russian Free Republic), Ivan Serov (Russian National Soviet Republic) or Konstantin Rodzaevsky (Russian National State) to defeat Nazi Germany?

Or would she see them as no different than Germany, and try to undermine them, as well as Germany as part of her Doctrine?

"The Assassination of America's Hitler" - LATIMES article ( published on 5/17/1972 )

By Kevin O'Brian

Published on May 17, 1973

( This is an archived article )

What was thought to be the end of the World's Last Bastion of Democracy as the highly controversial newly elected Francis Parker Yockey was sworn in as president after Margaret Chase Smith's refusal to run.

After his inauguration, violence had been spread all over the streets ranging from small towns to major citie centers as battles between anti-Yockeys, the KKK and Yockey's loyalists. The failure of passing the SAFE Act only intensified the violence, with the NPP and the R-Ds are starting to support the protests.

The NPP and the R-Ds had united to form a massive opposition to Yockey, with the R-Ds criticized the president for being a "fascist corporatist" and "a puppet to the Reich". The NPP two major factions, the Center and the Far Right had also united to form an opposition, while the Center condemned Yockey for his stance on black citizens by revoking all of their rights and had supported the KKK, the Far Right is unsurprisingly the most hawkish of all, with Jeane Kirkpatrick made a 2 hour speech condemning Yockey's actions and had demand him to resign off his position. But with the president's power growing, it seems that America will not recover from this nightmare.

But then something happened.

On the day of May 15, 1973, as President Yockey and his Vice President, Louis T. Byers was walking in the Laurel Shopping Center, located in Laurel, Maryland. An assassin by the name of Arthur Bremer, slipped through the crowd of Yockey's supporters, opened fire on both men at close range with his 80 round Thompson SMG. The shots killed Yockey and 5 other people instantly, while injuring Byers and 10 others, but Byers would soon died 3 hours due to fatal wounds.

With the aftermath of both men's assassination, the Speaker of the House of Representatives was forced to sworn in as president in an attempt to restore order. This was the second time the Speaker had to sworn in as president since JFK's assassination. The president announced his first priority is to dismissed many of Yockey's cabinet by replacing it with a bipartisan cabinet.

As soon as Yockey's assassination was heard throughout the country, the public's reaction was a massive celebration as hundreds of citizens were overjoyed to hear that "America's Hitler" was finally gone from office, while supporters of Yockey had been overwhelmed with emotions. The KKK marched on Atlanta to honor Yockey's death, however the

Catch the Persimmon

I did not realize such a subreddit existed! Bloom County was the best thing that happened to the 80s for me. Today I recalled a strip - I don't have perfect recollection but hoping someone else would remember.

The scenario was that Bill the Cat was missing or perhaps just people hadn't heard from him. It later emerged that he had been holed up in a hotel room with Jeane Kirkpatrick playing "catch the persimmon".

My memory may be off here. Maybe it wasn't "catch the persimmon" . . maybe it was "hide the persimmon".

I don't know but if anyone recalls this, I'd love to see that strip.

List of all possible US Senators

Taken from the localisation file "TNO_USA_senator_names_l_english.yml"

Interesting things I observed:

  1. Most states have a total of 12 possible senators, 2 for each party (RD-R, RD-D, NPP-L, NPP-C, NPP-FR, NPP-Y). But since some possible senators can become presidents (e.g. Gus Hall) or join a president’s cabinet (e.g. Russell B. Long), there are 5 states who have 14 possible senators (Arizona, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Mississippi) and 18 states with 13 possible senators (Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Washington).

  2. This may or may not be a bug, but following senators appear multiples times:

  • Lement Harris – possible NPP (L) senator for both Georgia and South Dakota
  • Claude Lightfoot – possible NPP (L) senator for both Arkansas and Kentucky
  • Delmer Berg – possible NPP (L) senator for both Arizona and California
  • Edwin Westphal – possible NPP (Y) senator for both Alabama and Kansas
  • Eustace Mullins – possible NPP (Y) senator for both New York and Virginia
  • James Abourezk – possible senator for South Dakota for both the Republican and Democratic parties
  • Cecil Andrus – possible senator for Idaho for both the Republican and NPP (C) parties

Clearly, the National Progressive Party has mastered the art of cloning.

  1. The longest name is β€œBenjamin Franklin Dillingham II,” a possible NPP (FR) senator from Hawaii; the most common first name is β€œJohn” (41 instances), followed by James (22 instances) and β€œCharles” (14).

  2. There are 22 β€œJr.”s, 3 β€œSr.”s, 3 β€œII”s, 2 β€œIII”s, and 1 β€œIV.”

  3. 3 senators have nicknames: BolesΕ‚aw β€˜Bill’ Gebert (Oregon, NPP-L), O. β€˜Abe’ Murdock Jr. (Utah, RD-R), and W. A. β€˜Tough Tony’ Boyle (Montana, NPP-C).

EDIT: 6) Just noticed the awesome father-son combo of Prescott β€œThe Business Plot” Bush as RD-R from Connecticut and George H. W. β€œTreason And War Crimes” Bush as RD-D from Texas.

Anyway, on to the list of names:

A young mother disappears forever shortly after divorcing her abusive husband. He is convicted for her murder, but her body has never been found. Have the remains of Sally Jean Rawlings been lost forever, or could she still be found?

Before you read, please note that while there has been a conviction in Sally's case, it is extremely obvious who is responsible for her disappearance and likely death, and it may not seem like an "Unresolved Mystery" to some, let me reiterate her remains have never been recovered. Sally is still a missing person and her family still deserves closure.

Background

In 1976, Sally Brown met Gary Rawlings in Pennsylvania. The couple married in Denver, Colorado in 1977. Sally became Sally Rawlings and fell out of contact with her family. She gave birth to a daughter, Kimberly, in 1980. The family moved to Oklahoma City in late 1981.

At this time, they had a difficult relationship. Gary had a temper and was abusive to Sally. On January 12, 1982, Sally filed for divorce. The divorce was granted on February 24, 1982 and Sally was awarded custody of Kimberly. Sally and her daughter moved into Passageway, a YWCA shelter for victims of domestic abuse. She had a history of past mental health issues and engaged in counseling while staying at the shelter. She was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

In March 1982, Sally and her daughter moved again, this time into the Kirkpatrick Hotel, located in downtown Oklahoma City. She reportedly chose this location due to the secured locked front doors. On March 21, police were called to the Kirkpatrick Hotel where Sally was staying. Gary had failed to return Kimberly on time after his scheduled visitation. He arrived at the hotel around 9 pm without Kimberly, and an argument followed. During the argument, he hit Sally in the head. She had a large gash in her head and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Sally told authorities Gary had also stolen important documents from her, including Kimberly's birth certificate. Gary told Sally the next time she saw him, she would be dead. Eventually, Gary returned Kimberly to her mother and agreed to forgo visitation with her for six months.

Later that same month, she began a job as a secretary at the Kerr-McGee Corporation. Over the course of the next two months, she developed a reputation as a good employee who kept to herself and was just a bit odd. She was overheard talking to herself on multiple occasions.

At this time, Kimberly was enrolled in daycare. Sally would drop her off everyday before work around 8 am and pick her up after work, generally between 5-5:30 pm. She also began looking into local rental properties, paying a private company $45.00 t

I draw the line in the sand

Allen James "A.J." Hidell had never been one to care much about politics. As long as he could run his bar without the tax man putting him in the red, he was happy. Of course, it's not like there weren't other things in his life. He'd listen to baseball if there happened to be a game on, drive down to Birmingham once a month or so just for the hell of it. He'd go to church sometimes, but really that was about it for him. A.J. could've gone the rest of his life without anything changing and he'd've died a happy man. But the rest of the world had other plans.

Oh, it had started out small at first. The talk of "integration" and such would get louder from Johnson and his crowd, but the R-D's were just like the old Democrats back before the war: too damn scared of losing the Solid South to try anything funny. As they should be. But then that damned preacher wouldn't stop showin' up on the radio and those televisions, and all of a sudden Nixon was rollin' over to the race-mixers! That had been a wake up call for A.J., and he hadn't been alone. The South remained solid, but not for the R-D's. The drive up to Washington hadn't been pleasant, but it'd been worth every second to see George Wallace become the President.

At least, that's what he'd thought.

Wallace had betrayed his own country, becoming the modern-day Truman with his willingness to sell America itself down the river. Why the hell did he have to care about "not having the votes in Congress" to repeal Kennedy's damned bill-he was the President! It was his job to enforce the laws, so he oughta have just stopped enforcing it, and to hell with what Congress said. But no. Instead he wasted his time with some big trade treaty and welfare bills; bills that he had to work with the R-D's to pass, and bills that would see A.J.'s tax money going to negroes. With each passing year, A.J's anger grew.

He'd had real hope for President Goldwater. Fool hope, he knew that now, but he'd had it all the same. Less wasted money, less federal overreach, and a whole lot more a' kicking Jap ass. With how hard he'd swept the R-D primaries, A.J. had even hoped that Congress might pull its collective head outta its ass for once. And they had too-or so he thought. Within his first 100 days President Goldwater signed the States' Rights Act into law, and after four years of having to sweet-talking the cops A.J. could once again decide exactly what kind of person he wanted to serve.

For about a year, that is.

Goldwater had also p

Neoconservatism in TNO

After the recent neoconservative subideology leak and after playing the Jeane Kirkpatirck presidency I started to think that it doesn’t make much sense for the neoconservative movement to exist in the TNO timeline.

Though nowadays neoconservatives seems to be defined as any foreign policy hawk conervative. But originally they were defined as hawkish liberals that became increasingly disillusioned with the growing dovish policies of the Democratic party and with their presidential candidates George Mcgovern and Jimmy Carter that came to prominence in reaction to the Vietnam war.

But the parties and party alignments in the TNO timeline are very different to OTL. The liberal hawk Scoop Jackson remains a powerful figure within the NPP-C and becomes their presidential nominee in 1972, plus the NPP in general is known for their hawkish foreign policy. So there is no reason for Jackson's allies to be disillusioned with the left at that point in time as they became OTL and would therefore make more sense to be members of the NPP-C.

Many significant neoconservatives such as Paul Wolfowitz, Eliott Abrams and Richard Perle began their political careers by working for senator Jackson. Jeane Kirkpatrick herself was a close supporter to both Hubert Humprey and Jackson and described herself as a ALF-CIO Democrat before she defected to the Republicans in 1985.

(gut types 8-1) The 18 Riso and Hudson Enneagram Wings and Example β€” Taken from "Personality Types Using the Enneagram for Self-Discovery" (1996) by Don Richard Riso and Russ Hudson

Check out the descriptions of the wings "The Wisdom of the Enneagram" https://www.reddit.com/r/Enneagram/comments/keo50u/the_18_risohudson_enneagram_subtypes_examples/

>The Wings
The wings help us to individualize the nine (more general) types of the Enneagram. Each wing is a subtype of the general type. Knowing the wing enables us to narrow down the issues that we must face oh the spiritual path.
Because the nine types are arranged around a circle, no matter what your basic type, you will have a type on each side of it. One of these two types will be your wing. The wing modifies and blends with the basic type and highlights certain tendencies in it. For example, if your basic type is Nine, you will have either an Eight-wing or a One-wing.
No one is a pure type, and in some cases, we also find Nines with both wings. Most people, however, have one dominant wing.
Taking the dominant wing into consideration produces a unique subtype that is recognizable in daily life. For instance, when we look at Sevens in the real world, we see that there are Sevens with an Eight-wing and Sevens with a Six-wing. Each of these two different wing subtypes has a very different flavor. All of the type and wing combinations yield eighteen wing subtypes, with two for each type. They are each described in their respective type chapters.
It may help you to think of individual differences by picturing the circumference of the Enneagram as a color wheel that gives the full range of available colors.
The types can therefore be thought of as a family of related shades. Indicating that someone is a Six, for example, would be the equivalent of saying that they are in the "blue family." While we might not have a precise notion about what exact shade of blue is being referred to (teal, navy blue, sky blue, indigo, powder blue, and so forth), we certainly know the difference between blue and red, or between blue and orange, for instance.
This way of looking at the types shows us that there is a continuum of human expression, just as there is a continuum on the color spectrum. There are no real divisions between the varieties of personality types, just as there are none between the colors of the rainbow. Individual differences are as unique as different shades, hues, and intensities of color. The nine points on the Enneagram are simply "family names" that we use t

TIL that in 1981 the Soviets forged Pakistani intelligence documents to trick India into thinking Pakistan and the CIA were providing weapons and money to Sikh militants in India who wanted to create an independent country.

In 1981 the Soviets forged Pakistani intelligence documents to trick India into thinking Pakistan and the CIA were providing weapons and money to Sikh militants in India who wanted to create an independent country. India's PM, Indira Gandhi’s decision to move troops into Punjab was based on her taking seriously this disinformation, leading to the Indian army attacking Sikh holy sites, killing hundreds of pilgrims. This led to her assassination by her two Sikh bodyguards, leading to tens of thousands of Sikhs being killed in the ensuing 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Extract from The Mitrokhin Archive II: The KGB in the World. by Christopher Andrew, pages 278-279:

>The greatest successes of Soviet active measures in India remained the exploitation of the susceptibility of Indira Gandhi and her advisers to bogus CIA conspiracies against them. In March 1980 Home Minister Zail Singh blamed the USA and China for fomenting unrest in Assam and the tribal areas of the north-east. Shortly afterwards Home Ministry officials claimed to have β€˜definite information’ that the CIA was β€˜pumping money’ into the region through Christian missionaries. Mrs Gandhi herself repeatedly referred to the β€˜foreign hand’ behind this and other outbreaks of domestic unrest. Though she rarely identified the β€˜foreign hand’ in public, it was clear that she meant the CIA.

>One of the main aims of KGB active measures in the early 1980s was to manufacture evidence that the CIA and Pakistani intelligence were behind the growth of Sikh separatism in the Punjab. In the autumn of 1981 Service A launched operation KONTAKT based on a forged document purporting to contain details of the weapons and money provided by Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to the militants seeking to bring about the creation of an independent Sikh state of Khalistan. In November the forgery was passed to a senior Indian diplomat in Islamabad. Shortly afterwards the Islamabad residency reported to the Centre that, according to (possibly optimistic) agents’ reports, the β€œlevel of anxiety in the Indian embassy about Pakistani support for Sikh separatists indicated that KONTAKT was having the alarmist effect that Service A had hoped for.

>In the spring of 1982 the New Delhi residency reported that Agent β€˜S’ (apparently a recent recruit) had direct access to Mrs Gandhi and had personally presented to her another forged ISI document fabricated by Service A, which purported to demonstrate Pakistani involvement in

Can we have a sense of historical perspective about β€˜college campus free speech’ crises/issues?

There is a lot of talk and energy devoted to, much hay made about, some sort of new or particularly pressing problem of β€˜the left’ currently shutting down free speech on college campuses. For example, here is Harris talking with Nicholas Christakis in episode 100 of Making Sense:

> I just want to talk a little bit about your experience at Yale, and then move on generically to the problem on college campuses in general, as described by people like Jonathan Haidt and others who are focusing on the way in which there's an authoritarianism emerging on the Left, really exclusively, that is preventing free speech.

> I'm just going to interrupt you by reminding you of something you wrote, which appeared in the New York Times, which I think is the only thing you wrote in the aftermath of what happened at Yale addressing the events. You wrote, quoting you: "The faculty must cut at the root of a set of ideas that are wholly illiberal. Disagreement is not oppression. Argument is not assault. Words – even provocative or repugnant ones – are not violence. The answer to speech we do not like is more speech."

> I couldn't agree more with that sentiment. It's amazing to me that this even needs to be said, and said as frequently as we now have to say it. Again, I do want to come back to specifically what happened at Yale because many people just might not be aware of it or might have forgotten the details, but how do you think it is that the Left, primarily, has lost sight of this principle that the antidote to bad ideas is good ideas, and the criticism of bad ideas?

When Christakis says β€˜I think the Right and the Left take turns in this regard. I mean, let's not forget the history of McCarthyism on campus’, Harris replies: β€˜Yeah, but we expect the Right to get this wrong, at the extreme.’

While they don’t really identify how widespread a problem this currently is, Christakis, while acknowledging there’s mixed or unclear data on this, does β€˜believe very strongly that something is different on campuses’, though β€˜it's hard to know for sure.’

Harris then goes on to say:

> Let's just talk about the phenomenon of moral panic. We'll remain somewhat agnostic as to how big a problem this is on college campuses nationwide, but where it's a problem, it does strike me that it has the character of what I'm calling a moral panic. There have been other moral panics in our history. Relatively recent ones, too. You
