A list of puns related to "James Gooderham Worts"
I'm currently in Toronto until Saturday and was hoping to snag something from this year's Northern Border Collection. Unfortunately it seems like it may not release this week (an LCBO employee told me they weren't expecting anything until the 28th), so that leaves me in a bit of a pickle.
I thought I might grab something from last year's collection instead and it seems like there's still quite a few bottles of 11 souls at Yonge & Summerhill so I was wondering what you guys thought of that particular release. It seems a bit pricey at $100 without an age statement, especially with this year's version being 19 years old and $10 cheaper, but if it's really good I'd love to have a nicer Canadian whisky to bring home and show off. What do you guys think?
Edit: Fortunately I was wrong and the Northern Border Collection dropped in a few locations today. I was able to find 49 Wellington, Lot 40 CS and JP Wiser's at the Eglinton & Dunfield LCBO and went with the 49 Wellington. Thanks everyone for the advice!
Paid $31.30 for a bottle. Quite a few other sales there as well. Quite a few left.
Currently 472 units up for grabs online. This is the other bottling of the NBC I really want to pick up. It sounds very interesting, and I need to feel it in my mouth!!π
I've got too many unopened bottles to be tempted, but $36.33 net is a great price.
New Canadian release bottled at 44.4% 4 grains and $44. Must be marketing to the half Chinese...
This is put out by Corby and I read somewhere that it is distilled in Windsor, ON. It was made using Rye, Wheat Barley and Corn. There is not much info out on this ye, just a few things I saw on twitter.
N Oak, peaches, rye, cream corn
T Soft and sweet, rye bread, lemon candy, pretzels, a bit of caramel on the finish, slight chocolaty notes as well.
Overall I like it, I think this is a decent Canadian whiskey. I know most complain about any offering that isn't cask strength and this would probably be better with more abv, but it's good. It might be great in a Manhattan or other cocktails. There are some sweet notes, which I enjoy and overall i think that this is really good. I would easily put this in the same category as lot 40.
Rating 85ish/100 I would recommend getting a bottle if you can find one, especially if you can find it for $44
This is now too rich for me, but maybe not for you? It would be pretty amazing to try some 130 year old rye. Shall we all chip-in and make a group acquisition?
Edit: bad at math
Edit: $900! You know, that doesn't seem especially unreasonable in light of current prices for what I assume is a rare bottle. I hope it's drinkable!
I follow a guy on Instagram who's a brand-rep for Wiser's. He recently posted a picture of a new bottle with a new label called "Gooderham & Worts Four Grain"--but it was just a tease photo, with scant other information available.
Anyone heard anything about this?
