A list of puns related to "Jain vegetarianism"
EDIT: I could see the Ten Commandments being as such, but are those strict rules or more so general guidelines?
This is purely out of curiosity.
Super specific question..... I am here for my postdoc and am wondering if there is good Jain vegetarian restaurants in the vicinity of campus? I know there are some options in greater Boston area, but don't want to travel far if not necessary
I am not making this up. Everytime, there is a Jain festival, there is a blanket ban on sale of eggs and meat in city as well as restaurants. Of course, its Punjab, people will defy ban, but you do realize this is some weird level stupid

Is there any way to fight this? A lawyer friend told me that district admin has the right to put such bans and law allows it.
Not trying to start a debate or argument, just genuinely curious. I was vegan for roughly 3 years and noticed a lot of effects from my strict diet. That makes me wonder if people in vegan cultures (Buddhism, Indian culture, hippy communes etc.) tend to report similar side effects that can be directly correlated to deficiencies common with vegan diets.
Delicious Indian Food
I am an Indian food lover. When ordering "Indian" food in places similar as the United States or the UK, garlic naan, biryani, adulation funk, and dal are ubiquitous.
Still, when you travel to India, do not anticipate anything close to a standard menu. In this vast country, there are 29 countries-- each with its own geomorphology and traditions.
Head 100 country miles in any direction and the religion, language and culinary customs will be fully different.
The food gests vary grounded on the geography and climate, not to mention major immigration patterns, spices, trade links, autocrats and persuasions.
In northern destinations, you might find flatbreads and tandoor- grilled kebabs, while southern Indians dine on sweet coconut fish curries, with rice and roti. Hmm and that's honestly very delicious.
Across the country, the diversity spans further than nine persuasions, all of which impact the relationship with food. For illustration, Hindus dodge beef, Muslims avoid pork and Jains exercise strict vegetarianism.

As an outsider, I have an observation on Hinduism, pardon me if it seems to be overtly negative, but I have elicited on it below.
Firstly, I see it as a religion which, by its very foundation, oxymoronic. Let me emulate the reasons as to why -
There is no definition of Hinduism, no classification which differentiates Hindus from Non Hindus. The only classification which exists in Hinduism is caste identity (more on that later). Ambedkar rather sternly observed that Upper Caste Hindus were hostile against Dalits but became friendly towards Dalits who ended up converting to Islam for example.
This very approach of being unfriendly towards Dalits, who are of the same religion as you all are, while being extra decent for Muslims and Christians by accepting them under the Maxim of "All Religions are the same"/ "Serve garam vadapav" which seems to stem right from the heart of ideas central to Hinduism defeats the very purpose of existence of Hinduism.
If every religion is true, what is the need of Hinduism ? If every religion is true, is it harmful for a Hindu to become a Muslim if Islam is also a true religion according to Hinduism ? Before you all accuse me of listening to wrong interpretations, please bear with me while I produce evidence of Mainstream Hindu Monks, Historically relevant Hindu revivalists and organizations saying this -
A. RamaKrishna Parmahansa, the spiritual guru of Swami Vivekananda, practiced Islam for a while and saw Islam as a valid path -

B. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi used to quote Quranic Ayats
C. Chinamaya Mission, Rishikesh -
The Central Prayer hall of Chinmaya Mission has portraits of all Prophets and Saints of different religions. From Jesus, Guru Nanak to the Islamic Shahadah.
C. Shivaji Maharaj and his ancestors were devotees of Muslim peers

... keep reading on reddit β‘Last evening I dined with their family and discussion turned towards the topic my youngest cousin, a wonderful little girl who is the darling of everyone here in our town.
So, apparently my cousin is an "accidental pregnancy" for my bua and she wanted to keep the child. But it seemed my bua is "out of" on the "borderline" of the "safe" age for women to have children. And then, she became the center piece of the entire town with every one, including doctors and even priests visiting her on a daily basis giving advises and in general keeping an eye on her. As expected it seems it was very hard on her until the delivery.
So my bua said "life is very precious" and she grew revulsion towards any meat. So since last 13-14 years the are vegetarians. My dad also turned to being vegetarian along with them though occasionally he took a bite when visiting restaurants. But later on advice of doctors he abandoned meat completely on health grounds.
EDIT:
Looks like some of you are assuming I am judging non veg folks. Not at all. I am copying a response to such a comment to clarify.
>I didn't expect this response at all. It kind of pricked me like a thorn. And I thought I should respond.
>Look, this is an emotional response of a mother holding a child in her hands after a difficult pregnancy and complicated child birth. She valued life so much that she gave up eating meat. And they aren't even brahmins. Neither am I.
more the amount to be eaten than specific meats or animals being banned. asceticism in diet implies low-calorie diet(OMAD, not eating to fill, weighing food alloted),since discovering the wonderful works of dr Ray Peat i realized how important a high or even medium amount of calories is for the survival and thriving of a human adult.
fasting up to 48 hours is fine if done very occasionally, but Ramadan, Lent, etc. these long periods of fasting are sub-optimal for mental and bodily health. eat your fill!
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
The nurse asked the rabbit, βwhat is your blood type?β
βI am probably a type Oβ said the rabbit.
The doctor says it terminal.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
My brother is raising his daughter (2 years old) on a vegan diet. She has never had meat a day in her life. Iβm worried about the possibility of her having self-esteem issues once she reaches school age. Sheβs going to see her peers eating meat at the lunch table, hear that humans are omnivores in science class, and may even be bullied by other kids by pointing out her different diet (kids are notorious for bullying other kids for any kind of thing thatβs outside the βnormβ).
Has anyone who was formerly a lifelong vegan switched to eating meat for reasons like this? What was it like? Whatβs your position on parents starting their kids on a vegan diet before theyβre able to make that decision for themselves?
Do your worst!
