A list of puns related to "Iodine deficiency"
#WorldIodineDeficiencyDisordersDay is celebrated every year on 21 October.

I've read that processed foods use no iodized salt, fast-food restaurants as well.
I have had a really poor diet for over a decade, but when I did do home cooking, I used Sea Salt and Himalayan Pink salt because I fell for the fad of it being better for your health.
I basically never eat seafoods, and only occasionally eat eggs ((no milk))
How likely am I to be iodine deficient, I've not used iodized salt since 2016
Anyone experienced this?
Hi,
I saw an endocrinologist because I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and have known for a long time that I have elevated androgens. Recently I drank an herbal tea marketed for adrenal health and felt something in my lower back and that made me feel like maybe I have an adrenal condition that's going unseen. I read online about congenital adrenal hyperplasia and it seemed possible. The endocrinologist thought my tea story was crazy but she did clarify that she doesn't think I have CAH. She also had blood work done and turns out my TSH was extremely high at 82 and my T4 was 0.3. She prescribed levothyroxine at 25mcg before doing any new testing (the bloodwork I provided was years old) and didn't really explain to me what the medication is. Once those TSH/T4 results reached her inbox she then told me my thyroid function is very low and to take 4 instead and do 100mcg via a message in their patient portal.
After doing some research I'm realizing that brain fog, memory issues, fatigue, sleeping a lot, tingly hands and feet, overwhelming need to get back in bed after leaving it, all of which I chalked up to life being what life is, are all things I've been experiencing. I also found some info that hypothyroidism can be caused by iodine deficiency. I went vegan last year and I also switched to using Diamond Kosher Salt around Thanksgiving which is uniodized so that could be a possibility. I'm worried that this doctor is a throw medication at everything kind of person and I've seen some chatter online that once you get on levothyroxine it's a lifelong thing. Is that because people have chronic issues hence the need? Or does it create a dependency? And if this is caused by diet will I be able to titrate down? Also, is it wise to supplement with Mega Foods Thyroid Strength while taking levothyroxine?
This endocrinologist wants a follow up appointment in six weeks but I worry about being looped into taking levothyroxine when this could be addressed by eating animal products or supplementing which are things that aren't in this doctor's wheelhouse.
Iodine deficiency can cause severe consequences such as Cretinism and Goitre in humans. Humans evolved quite far inland, which are generally Iodine-poor locations compared to seashores.
So why do we suffer such severe consequences of Iodine deficiency, and did humans have any good sources of Iodine when living that far inland?
Vegans risk iodine deficiency

Nearly a third of German vegans had an iodine status that was lower than what the WHO recommends as a lower limit, according to a survey.
Ingrid Hagerup communications consultant University of Bergen Friday, April 2, 2021 - 4:31 p.m.
Together with, among others, Professor Jutta Dierkes at the Center for Nutrition at the University of Bergen, she has examined the nutritional status of a total of 72 Germans, half of whom are vegans and the rest are so-called omnivores , ie omnivorous.
A vegan eats only plant foods and avoids all kinds of foods of animal origin. This includes meat, fish, shellfish, eggs, honey and products where these are included.
The background for the survey is that in Germany, as in Norway, more and more people choose to live vegan. At the same time, one does not know enough about this lifestyle, and whether it has any health benefits or disadvantages. Nutrient intake varied
The researchers asked the participants what they ate and if they had taken any supplements in the last four weeks. They also measured their levels of various vitamins and nutrients through blood tests.
Almost all vegans, and a third of the omnivores, had taken supplements in the last four weeks. Their nutrient intake was fairly similar, but the intake of nutrients varied.
Iodine deficiency results in low metabolism and can cause goiter. For pregnant women, iodine deficiency can lead to damage to the fetus.
The study points out that almost all participants, both vegans and omnivores, get too little iodine.
She says it may be because the main sources of iodine in a normal diet are dairy products and processed meat flavored with iodine-enriched salt. Vegans
... keep reading on reddit β‘iodine is very important for brain and thyroid health, and very few plant foods are a good source of it. Make sure you're eating seaweed, iodized salt, or supplement! This nutrient tends to get overlooked, so I'm just trying to make sure other vegans are aware of this. article
What are the symptoms of iodine deficiency? Iβve heard that you have to be careful about supplementing with it....what can happen if you over do it?
How does it affect your thyroid/metabolism?
Also, when your in the womb too. If you grew up poor with dumb fuck parents itβs over for you. This is scientifically proved.
Fuck, maybe if my parents were rich and actually were getting 100% nutrition while I was in the womb...
Basically just a friendly reminder to make sure you are getting iodine, deficiency is common and bad for your thyroid, can cause sluggishness.
Can be found in regular table salt (not in sea salt/kosher salt), sprinkle some on your veggies/eggs whatever.
Can also get it from seaweed snacks which I personally love the taste.
Sort of related: if you take a bit of salt and lick it, and you find it tastes REALLY good, you might be low on sodium.
Personally since discovering this, I've noticed a lot less brain fog.
P.S this is because he think I'm sleeping with his baby mama we he not around she can hook me up better too but seriously I just wanted to get high not pussy or better yet hospitalized
Hey guys, not specifically related to peptides so I apologize in advance, but I was browsing the subreddit and saw a couple people up in arms about the lack of knowledge regarding iodine, and iodine deficiency. Iβm asking because Iβve been on prescribed lexapro for years, and Iβve had some side effects I havenβt been able to get over (weight gain, anxious, fatigue, cold extremities, low libido), and after reading a couple peoples thoughts, I delved deeper and read several things that indicate ssriβs have the possibility to be mineral stripping/making the body utilize their ineffectively (iodine being one specifically). As a prerequisite, Iβm on trt, and have regular blood work done, which is in a good place. Anyone have any thoughts to add to this?
In the process of ordering some B12 cream and I began to wonder if we can support iodine levels in the same way.
Lugol's or Povidone-iodine ?
